This film stars The Rock as Chris Vaughn, a retired soldier who returns to his hometown only two find out that his town has completely changed. The old lumber mill is shut down and the town is run by a casino owned by Vaughns old high school rival Jay Hamilton(Neal McDonough). The casino is also dishing out drugs to the local kids. Disturbed by this, Vaughn takes it upon himself to become sheriff of the his town and take it back. The film also stars Ashley Scott, Johnny Knoxville, and Kirsten Wilson. Lately, before every movie I time how long it takes from when the projector starts up to when the the film starts up. Wynnsong 15 in Mounds View, Minnesota, has the lead so far with and average of 22 minutes of preview and advertisments before hand. Anyways, when I do this I always know what the time is when a film actually starts . After seeing this film I looked at my cell phone to see what time it is and realized this film, even though listed at a hour and 27 minutes, was only an hour and 11 minutes long. Now I won't penalize this film for being shorter then the running times says because some moron could just made a mistake. I am however going to penalize this film because the whole thing was rushed and there is no need for that if it is only and hour and 11 minutes. One minute Vaughn is on trial for vandalizing and minutes later he is sheriff. This film as some good action sequences, but it was between those scenes where the film lacked. There wasn't enough story development to make the film work. |
