The Wicker Man
Nicolas Cage stars as Edward Malus, a sheriff, who is called into a small island by his ex-fiance(Kate Beahan) to investigate a missing the disappearance of a young girl. When he arrives on the small island realizes there is a bigger mystery in store for him in the sense of the secretive neo-pagan community that lives there. The film also stars Ellen Burstyn, Frances Conroy, and Leelee Sobieski. Here is a simple hint to all filmmakers out there...It isn't good if your main character says in the middle of the film that he or she has no idea what is going on. Chances are, if they don't know what is going on, we don't either. Nicolas Cage looks absolutely lost in this film. Almost as if he asks himself throughout why he signed up for the role. The film works for a while. The film begins with a mysterious car crash. Edward then gets a message about the missing girl and heads to the small island. The mysterious culture of the island is interesting for a while. However, after watching Cage run around the island asking people if they have seen the missing girl for about 20 minutes, it gets old fast. This drags on for about another 40 minutes. Then we finally come to the conclusion. One of the worst endings to a film ever. It basically has you ready to ask for a refund. If you think you might enjoy watching Nicolas Cage beat up women, you may enjoy this film. For the rest of us, it's just a terrible film.
