This film based on the writings of Robert Graysmith, has to do with a serial killer known only as "Zodiac", who commited a series of murders in the late 1960s and 1970s in the San Francisco area. This film focuses on those who took up the case and searched for the murderer and became obessed with it. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr. , and Mark Ruffalo. I saw this movie as really 2 different films. The first film involved all the characters and contained all the murders and really most of the hoopalla. The second half was based all on Gyllenhall's character Graysmith, who spends every waking moment of his life obsessed with finding out who the killer is. I found the first half of the film interesting and well down. Gyllenhaal, Downey Jr., and Ruffallo all do an excellent job. The second half of the film dropped off. The story became boring as Graysmith was really just backtracking and going through notes from the first half of the movie. Yet, I was still interested and entertained. Thanks to so great acting, this film grabs a recommendation out of me. |
