Charlie was wounded badly at Vimy Ridge during a gun house explosion.

Charlie lived in the Lashburn area for many years and moved to Nova Scotia in 1937.  During the war he was a Royal Canadian Engineer in charge of the power house shore gun batteries defense against submarines on the east coast.
