March 1893 - January 1964 Comrade Bob was the first President when the Great War Veterans' Association was formed in Febraury 1919 and also when the Canadian Legion British Empire Service League amalgamated with the G. W. V. A. in 1926. At the time of his death in 1964 he was the Saskatchewan Provinical President. Comrade Bob had served his country well from 1914 to 1964 through peace and war. 1913 - Sgt. Trumpeter, H. Q. Annual Camp, North Battleford. 1914 - November, 1914 joined the 2nd Contingent 16/22 Saskatchewan Light Horse and left for Winnipeg. 1914 - T. O. S. 'C' Co. 32nd Manitoba and Saskatchewan Battalion, Regimental # 81769 Sgt. 1915 - 8th Battalion Winnipeg Rifles. 1916 - September, Casualty list 8th Battalion. M. I. A. Accounted for two weeks later, wounded; spent many months in hospital in France. 1918 - Discharged February 1918 as a result of shrapnel wounds. 1920 - 2nd Lieutenant in Saskatchewan Mounted Rifles, 1st Regiment. 1940 - Enlisted in 16/22 Saskatchewan Light Horse in Dundurn. Rank: R. S. M. L 36142 1941 - From Weyburn to Vancouver, Nanaimo, Niagara, Sherbrooke, Debut. 1942 - Sydney, Camp Borden, Regina and Dundurn. 1943 - Dundurn 1944 - Regina, Maple Creek, Saskatoon, Regina and Dundurn until his discharge. 1945 - Discharched in July 1945. |
