George Edward (Ted) Sharpe
World War I
February 12, 1895 - June 24, 1979
My father enlisted in the army on April 11, 1916, joining the 188 Overseas Battalion.  He embarked from Halifax on October 13, 1916 and arrived in Liverpool on October 19, 1916 via the S. S. Olympic.

On November 30, 1916, he was transferred to the 46th Battalion, France.  On April 16, 1917 he was wounded in action and admitted to No. 3 General Hospital, Boulogne.  Later he was admitted to Whamcliffe War Hospital, Middleroad, Sheffield.  he spent time in Field Hastings and the military hospital in Bramshott.  Time spent in hospitals seemed very long and lonely.

He was discharged on April 5, 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan.  He returned to the Fartown District and farmed until his retirement to Marshall, Saskatchewan.  Later he moved to Saskatoon.
