The Last Ronin | |||||||||
What is D&D? D&D, simply put, is short for Dungeons and Dragons. If this hasn't already cleared up any questions you have at this point about what "D&D" is this brief description will. Dungeons and Dragons is a middle-ages fantasy roleplaying games where players fight epic battles against monsters of myth, gain wealth to buy new equipment, and gain power threw feats of strength or mind. |

Now that I've got you curious this is when I tell you it's played mostly with dice rolls and paper, but ultimately imagination. When someone tellls you they don't like D & D it could one of many things. It could be that the don't like the senseless violence that occurs often throughout the game. It could also be that they lack the imagination to comprehend what's going on. It might also be that either the DM (I'll explain what this is later) is very bad or the set-up for the game was bad (example: "you play as kobolds trapped in an arena and must fight your way out" as compared to "you are experienced adventurers and after a long campeign against the dark elven sorcerer Malavon and his hordes of minions you return to your castle to find that it is in ruins. Inside of it a Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon has taken up residense and speaks of a prophecy in which Malavon will return to power and become the new dark diety of arcana."). What you need in terms of people to play is at least one person who wants to play and a DM. DM is short for "Dungeon Master." Being the Dungeon Master is a huge responsibility and burden because your the one that makes the game work, or even start for that matter. The DM designs the game background, the dungeons, the monsters, the NPC's (NPC is short for Non-player character, such as a peasant the adventurers might be bartering with at the market.), rewards in gold and experience, and game plot. So the DM must be treated with respect, because more often than not people don't take up the position of DM without complaint. If this interests you can pick up a copy of the Dungeons and Dragon's player's handbook for about $30.00 at a bookstore. If your in the St.Peter area contact me and I can get you involved in a game. |
