Geoff Smith | |||||||||||||
Lead and Rhythm guitar piano vocals(ha) Geoff Smith was born in Massachusetts. His music was always one of his best friends growing up. He was always playing his electronic keyboard as a young child. His musical career really blossomed when he moved to Maine in 1996 and he learned to play the trumpet. This is also the fateful year that he met his fellow band mate Gregg Woods (drums). In 1998 he met his future co-writer and band mate James Kemer. James influenced Geoff"s music quite a bit by opening his eyes to different styles and instruments. James intrigued Geoff to play the baritone horn. Geoff also met Seth York officially in 1998. In 1999 Geoff met Brendan Amy (now Brendan McQuinn). In the summer before freshman year in high school Geoff started playing his mother's Yamaha acoustic guitar. He would never be able to imagine at the time what would happen in the next few months of his life. The early stages of last in line started in the science wing classroom of Lloyd Crocker. One day in November Geoff overheard a conversation between Gregg and Brendan. They were discussing a new band. Geoff told them that he could play guitar and the rest is history. Geoff bought his first electric guitar in January 2002: A cream Squire Stratocaster with rosewood fret board and chrome hardware. He has written many untitled songs, but his most popular song was Low battery. Other crowd favorites are Dot and Vod, an epic rock ballad. He is known for his screeching solos and smooth rhythm playing. He is also known for his harsh style vocals on such songs as Someday by "The Strokes", Twist and Shout as recorded by "The Beatles", and his backing vocals on My Generation by "The Who". In the summer of 2003 Geoff bought his second electric guitar: a hollow body. |
