M y  F i r s t   Z . . .
This was my first Z car.  I bought it when I was 17.  It had been sitting for about 10 years, and was in worse shape than I thought.  I spent time and money rebuilding the cooling system and replacing damaged body panels, only to find many more engine and body related problems down the road.
I was driving this as my primary mode of transportation, so when the engine started giving signs of needing a rebuild, the suspension was almost totally shot, and the body was giving in to the elements, I got a truck to drive around.
After starting into a minor restoration, I noticed that the floor pans were rusting through in many places and there was rust on the insides of the body panels starting to show through on the outside.  It kinda bummed me out, so I put the Z on the back burner for a little while.
I learned as much as I could in about a year and a half's time about Z cars, from the 240z to the 280zx, engine to emissions.  Much thought was given to transplanting a Chevy 350 and 4 speed TH-400 transmission, but time and money didn't allow this.
Ultimately, I traded the old Z as a parts car, along with the old truck for a
1981 280zx in much, much better condition.  Now this was a project car!!
