Home Page

This is My Linux Applications downloads page.  Some are offered in source others in RPM, .tar.gz files are source files.  To install source files, simply uncompress the file, change to the directory and type ./configure, when that is done type make, when that is done type su for your root account and type in your password and type make install.

UPDATE:  Scribus 1.0 has been updated to Scribus 1.0.1, Link updated.  Also with Yahoo's new protocol change third parties such as Gyach were kicked off.  I have uploaded the fix.  I will still be creating my fork of Gyach to include Voice chat and Web Cam viewing.  Please send me an e-mail if you are interested in Beta testing.  I have provided a link to the Xine packages, which I use for all my DVD viewing and Movie viewing.  Dont forget tho on Oct 14th GAIM will no longer work with the MSN Protocols and neither will the aMSN client.  I am currently in talks with Microsoft in either being gracious enough to let us continue interfacing with their network or licensing the protocol.  I really do not want to license it but if that is what must be done than so be it.  As of version 0.70 GAIM now also supports the new Yahoo protocols.  Please update.

Xine --- This link goes to Xine RPM's for Red Hat 8 and Red Hat 9, although I have used these RPMs on SuSE Linux 8.x and they work fine

Gaim --- Excelllent Third party messaging client for Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, Jabber and Napster

Anjuta --- IDE for GNOME and GTK, I have included Anjuta 1.0.2 here because in my opinion it is more stable than the current version.  But here is the homepage

Scribus  ----Scribus is a Desktop publishing Application for Linux, It is very good and can be used to create Newsletters and other lightweight publications.

Gyach --- Gyach is a Yahoo Chat room client that people can use to communicate with each other in Yahoo Chat

Eclipse ---IBM Websphere open source version

aMSN --- aMSN is a clone of MSN Messenger for Liinux very good for keeping up with the Microsoft guys :   To install this package uncompress it and copy the contents of the directory to /usr/bin  to launch the app click on or link to amsn.desktop

XMMS for Red Hat 8 and 9 -- These RPMs contain the MP3 Plugins that you need to listen to MP3's under Red Hat Linux 8 and 9.  Right now this is a direct link.  If anyone has any problems or the RPM files start becoming unavailable, let me know and I will post them on my site

Sony XMMS Skin --I have had many requests for this skin, I use it in my screenshots and since the original page is gone Im offering it here.  To install, Uncompress the file.  Got to the directory Sony_Skin and copy the file Expensive__Hi-Fi_ 1.1.wsz. Next, goto your home directory, make sure you have Show hidden Files enabled, then goto .xmms make a directory that says Skins and place the file in there.

iCAL -- No not the Mac OS X iCAL, but rather thee one written and released by Digital many years ago.  For its time it was advanced, you could share and publish calendars and it has even been further enhanced and now sits at version 2.  It has been my favorite for years.  You can download it here in RPM format, the RPM works with RH 9 and SuSE as well as Mandrake

Java Webstart  This is the Java Web start application included with Suns Java, I am bundling it as a seperate download for those of you who are running the IBM Java Stack.  see the following file for directions on how to install it.

I have decided to offer the DeCSS and DVDRead libraries for your use.  I have posted both the RPM and tar.gz file for DeCSS, enjoy your DVD's on Linux

UPDATE:

While the California Supreme Court has ruled that DeCSS does not fall under the first amendment right, I will continue to offer this code online, until either i am served a cease and desist order or unless asked by Geocities to remove it.  i do not see this happening anytime in the near future.  If this does happen though, contact me and I will e-mail you the files, they are small enough  to go through an e-mail server.

Libdvdread

UPDATE:  I have recompiled DeCSS for Windows Longhorn Alpha, I have only enclosed the Binary and will enclose the source soon.  You could probably call this the first Longhorn hack to appear, anybody wish to test and let me know how this wors drop me a line and tell me the results.  Due to legality issues I will not tell anyone who provided the source or where I got it from.
