Terror-linked students return to Indonesia
Six Indonesian students arrested in Pakistan on suspicion of terrorist links have
arrived back in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman says they have been placed in police custody.
The six include Rusman Gunawan, a younger brother of Jemaah Islamiah suspect
Hambali.
The students had been studying at the Abu Bakar Islamic University in the southern
Pakistani city of Karachi when they were arrested in September.
Their deportation came just three days before Indonesian President Megawati
Sukarnoputri's first state visit to Islamabad.
Islamabad-based security officials alleged the students were part of "a sleeper cell" of
Jemaah Islamiah.
They were placed under surveillance in August following information gleaned from
interrogation of Hambali, who has been in US custody at a secret location since his
arrest in Thailand in August.
