Longtime fans of Innosense are already familar with J Records sensation Amanda Latona - The 22-year old Pittsburg native made a name for herself overseas as an original member of the female quinet before departing the group due to personal differences. BSB fans will also recongize Amanda as the brunette beauty who once held the key to AJ Mclean's heart. Now Amanda is making melodies of her own and is poised to give pop's other young divas a run for their money - and she plans to do it all on her own, without help of her former beau.
"I dated AJ for two and a half years and the main thing to me was not to use him," admits Amanda. "Everyone else said, 'Use AJ, he's got these connections, you need to use them.' And I'm like "Well, what happens if we break up?' or 'What happens if I didn't get the deal on my own?' I would always wonder if I wasn't with him, would I have gotten this?"
With that in mind, Amanda set out to fulfill her musical dreams on her own. But the road to a recording contract wasn't an easy one. After leaving Innosense, she went through a period of about two years of indecision about the future of her career
Strong and independent, the songstress stuck to her guns and eventually received the phone call that would change her life. "This manager out of nowhere called me and said,'I've been wanting to work with you for a year, what are you doing?' and I'm like, 'Hey, yeah let's work," remembers Amanda.
Amanda hopes her fans recognize the dedication that has gone into her career thus far and looks foward to the future. Where does this ambitious gal see herself in five years? "To be known in every household so that everyone knows of me," she says. "But as a really good role model-I don't like negative stuff and I would like for people to be able to look up to me because of me. I'd like them to be able to get to know the real person that I am. That's important to me."
With dozens of fan sites already to her credit, it doesn't seem like Amanda will have a hard time gaining the household recognition she desires. ONe thing's certain- she already has Popstar!'s vote for one to watch on the music scene within the coming year! |
