After my shins became inflamed I laced my shoes very loosely and only up to the second eyelet from the top. I cut about 1 cm off of the tongue of my shoe, and also cut the cuff off my socks to remove pressure from the tendons of the ankle and shin. |

Some days I walked with bags of ice taped to my shins. We devised a system using ziplock bags so that we could add ice quickly on the go. Mike became expert at acquiring ice from bars and super-markets (you simply can not buy ice in France). |
