This site is primarily designed for English speaking students of Korea, its language, culture, history, current events, literature, and music.  In no way do I intend to supplant or diminish the work of any native Korean speakers in establishing korean lds sites.  I am very grateful to the many who have prepared Korean lds sites and have provided links to some of the better ones I've found.

When I first got internet access, I began looking for a site with all the links and resources I would need to continue to study Korea and Korean.  While I found many great resources, I didn't find a good compendium of resources tailored for English speaking students of Korea.  The goal of LDS Korea is to provide this kind of resource.  Some content will also be of interest to native Korean speakers--especially those studying English. I welcome any comments or contributions you have to make regarding the site.  --john glass
 

1. Do you have a list of  LDS church units and leaders in Korea? Is there such a list posted on the internet?

     I do not have a list and know of no such list on the internet.  However, if you really need this information, your bishop will have a world wide listing of church units and leaders and can provide you with this information.
2. When I search with Freefind, the Korean summaries are illegible.

     Your search results are valid and you can view the pages searched correctly. Freefind searches hangul accurately but cannot display the summaries well. Freefind is still working on fixes for language display problems. Please be patient.
3. When I search with Pico search, everything is processed with "or". I want to use "and".

     Pico search does an excellent job displayling hangul but it will not process "and" as a boolean. Most relevant search results for all words you enter are listed first, followed by results for some or one of the words you entered. You can put exact phrases in quotes for more precise searching.
4. When I search with Alta Vista, I get a "Whatever" ignored, zero results message.

     This one is easy to fix! Just click on the language preferences link and follow instructions to configure your browser for searching Alta Vista in Korean.
5. All hangul appears as random Latin characters.

     To view hangul you need to dowload an asian font program such as Unionway.
6. I downloaded Microsoft's Korean Language Support for Internet Explorer, but I still can't read hangul on your page.

     Microsoft's Korean Language Support still has a number of glitches (as of 10/5/99). Microsoft's addons do not auto recognize Korean fonts and so do not read mixed language pages. This means it will not read hangul on this site. The addon can not read many hangul only sites either. Microsoft's Korean Language Support also interferes with other Korean font programs when used with Internet Explorer, preventing you from using non MS font programs at all. The promised encoding feature doesn't work either. Hopefully MS will come up with a fix for all this soon. In the meantime I suggest you use Unionway.
