It’s nearly Christmas
As a thank you to all the web site visitors, I would like to give you the following FUNDRAISING details which I hope you will follow up.
LOCAL NETWORK FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
This fund has been st up by the Department of Education to assist child poverty. Grants are available between £250.00 and £7,000.00 for small community groups ( this means you !! ).
Criteria is that your project must be for children between 0 – 19 years old, which falls within the football spectrum of Leigh and District League.
The other criteria is you have to be in Lancashire.
Priority is given to first time applications, disadvantaged wards
( are you in a run down area? )
ethnic groups and your group must fit one of the four main themes.
1. ASPIRATIONS
2. ECONOMIC DISADVANTAGED
3. ISOLATION AND ACCESS
4. CHILDRENS VOICES.
Sound scary? No.

THE CLOSING DATE IS FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2003
If you think you do not qualify, ring anyway. There is an Outreach Development Officer appointed to provide help in completing your application
CO-OPERATIVE SMALL GRANTS
Do you have a local Co-Op shop ( All Days ). They have a local fund called THE CO-OPERATIVE COMMUNITY FUND which raises funds through donations. Grants are available from £100.00 to £5,000.00 to support activities targeted at disadvantaged areas where the Co-Op operates.
Funding cannot be used for running costs but you will here a decission in four months ( look at 2003-2004 season)
Visit the Co-Op site at http://www.co-op.co.uk and look for the Community Dividend area.
To add, you can also approach Co-Op stores and make your group known with a letterheaded request for assistance. A donation should be achieved for a raffle / draw etc.
SPORT RELIEF UK GRANTS
Sport relief has grants available for groups who are "charity" registered and sport based, is this you?
You must be a group aged 25 and under to qualify and aim at tackling
TENSION,
DIVISIONS IN LOCAL RACISM
TERRITORIALISM
RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCE.

Senario: organising a local tournament for teams from local areas and inviting groups from outside to "bond". This falls within the criteria above.
