U16's Cup Match 15th Jan 2005 |
Hindsford Bandits 2, Ringley 5 |
Too many mistakes from Hindsford cost them any chance of beating a good Ringley |
team, who have won every game so far this season. |
Sloppy play in defence gave Ringley an early goal after 7 mins and although the |
Bandits battled as best they could, it was Ringley who scored again after 19 |
mins. This time it was a good finish by the Ringley forward from a free kick |
which the Bandits did not defend well. |
The Bandits pulled a goal back a minute later when Dale Glover followed up a |
free kick to make it 2 - 1 to Ringley. |
Unfortunatley Hindsford switched off and allowed Ringley to score immediatley |
after to make the score 3-1 to Ringley after 21 mins. |
The Bandits were playing well now though, and after 30 mins a well worked free |
kick taken by Steve Eccles gave Dale Glover the chance to head home and make |
the score 3-2 to Ringley. |
Ringley were now a little rattled, and it the Bandits almost made it 3-3 but the |
Ringley keeper managed to tip a Bandits free kick onto the crossbar and the ball |
was scrambled clear. |
It looked like it would be Ringley 3 Hindsford 2 at half time but another |
mistake in the Bandits defence allowed Ringley to make it 4-2 seconds before |
half time. |
Half time Hindsford Bandits 2, Ringley 4 |
Any thoughts of a Hindsford comeback ended in the 1st minute of the second half |
when another mistake gave Ringley a fifth goal. |
The Bandits never gave up but could not break down the Ringley defence for the |
remainder of the half. The nearest they came to scoring was when Dale Glover |
was tripped in the Ringley penalty area but the referee waved play on. |
Generally Hindsford played well against a good Ringley team, but you cannot make |
as many mistakes as the Bandits did and expect to beat a team as good as |
Ringley, that was the diferance. |
Perhaps only having played twice in the last 8 weeks did not help but in the end |
Ringley deserved to win. |
The game was played in a good spirit and was well refereed by Gary Halliwell |
