Match Comment: Standish are still struggling to field a full squad of players what with injuries, players not wanting to play and absentees due to Wigan Latics football, however, we still managed to field 11 bodies in various states of health. Before Standish new what had hit them they were 2 nil down playing against a strong wind which made defending difficult. Lowton were well worth their 2 nil lead at this point and Standish looked in danger of going further behind. However, after some good approach work Standish finally broke back with a well taken goal by Chris Ochwat (Standish goal keeper from last year, now playing up front) this was his first goal of his hatrick. Standish felt that if they could keep tight for the rest of this half then they could possibly have a go in the second half with the benefit of the wind behind them. Anyway things got better than hold on as Jonathan Hook did some fancy footwork on the edge of the Lowton box to finally push the ball onto his left foot and strike a sweet shot into the Lowton net. 2 - 2 half time, game on.
The second half started with Standish making use of the wind and before to long they went 3 - 2 up with yet another goal from Chris Ochwat (header). Chris was not finished yet and made his third strike on goal with yet another shot to take Standish 4 - up and a bit of a breathing space. Things got better and David Aspinall shot on goal to make it 5 - 2 Standish. Lowton shortly afterwards made another goal 5 - 3 Standish. But things were finally put to bed with another goal from David Aspinall following through on a wicked shot from Chris Ochwat. Final score line Lowton 3 - Standish 6.
The wind was the significant factor in this game.
