ABOUT

"I rather think our 'aliensts' could learn much about criminal insanity by talking with him." -Mina Murray

What's a fanlisting?

A fanlisting is a place, usually a website, where fans of a certain character, film, etc. gather together to try and build a listing of as many fans as possible of that subject. For more information, check out thefanlistings.org.

What's the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"?

LoEG (for short) is a brilliant graphic novel series written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Kevin O'Neill about a group of rather unusual literary characters assembled together as a sort of special operative team for British intelligence. At present, we've only really seen the Victorian League (Mina Murray, Allan Quatermain, Captain Nemo, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man) in action. Recently, 20th Century Fox released a film version ("LXG") of the comics. For more information, check out Wildstorm.

Who's Hawley Griffin/Invisible Man?

Hawley Griffin, probably better known as the Invisible Man, is one of the members of the Victorian League. He's from, naturally, H.G. Wells' "The Invisible Man", although Alan Moore chose the first name of Hawley for him as a reference to the notorious pre-WWI murderer, Dr. Hawley Crippen (thanks to the Annotations for that bit) Basically, he's the League's spy, although he seems to spend more time annoying the heck out of everyone with his snarky insults, lack of reliability and trademark giggle ("Aheheh").

Wait a sec...he wasn't in "LXG"!

Unfortunately, no. FOX couldn't secure the rights to the character due to conflicts with the H.G. Wells estate as well as Universal, the latter of whom produced the 1933 film version of Wells' novel. However, the film did provide a rather nice substitue in Rodney Skinner, but this fanlisting does not cover his character.
