Handwriting

 

The “Handwriting Center” is a place where students are able to practice their letter formation skills in a variety of ways. They are practicing their small-motor skills.

Teachers need to model how to:

·        Use and store materials

·        Form letters correctly

Materials


·        Handwriting practice sheets

·        Dry erase boards / markers / erasers

·        Paper

·        Pencils

·        Pens

·        Colored pencils

·        Magna Doodle


 

Activities

·        Do a handwriting sheet

 

·        Circle best letters

 

·        Write on a dry erase board

 

·        Write spelling words

 

·        Write on contact paper

 

·        Write on laminated paper

 

·        Write using a magna doodle

 

·        Use stencils to trace letters

 

·        Copy a short poem using your best handwriting

 

·        Silly Sentences: Take a noun from one pocket (one color), a predicate from a second (a second color), and a prepositional phrase (a third color) from the pocket. Copy it with your best handwriting and illustrate it. Example: ”Mr. Smith” “drove the car” “into the ocean” -> Mr. Smith drove the car into the ocean.
