| I came pretty late to collecting diecast cars - actually I was looking for an investment which might also provide some fun. I looked into diecast because I was a pretty big fan of race cars, especially dragsters. I began with Racing Champions, Action, etc. and amassed quite a collection. However, in shopping for them, I noticed that a lot of Hot Wheels castings were based on real race cars I recognized. All that was missing was the correct colors and detailed graphics. Being in posession of an ALPS Micro-Dry printer which I used to make decals for 1/24 plastic models, I decided to try and customize some of these great castings and create 1/64 models of some of my favorite racers. The first one I did was the IROC Firebird - it has great body and interior detail, but sorely misses the detailed graphics found on IROC cars. Since then I've developed a few more sets of decals to improve on those great HW castings, and I've learned many of the tricks of the trade from the many fine web sites of HW customizers. Thanks to all of you. I'll be updating the page soon with more models and better photos. I'm also working on a new line of graphics that I'm sure you guys will love. Stop by again soon..... Larry |
