Castlevania Chronicles
The game is as original to the "real" castlevania experiance as you can get, unless you buy an old and used NES and buy the Castlevania games for the system.  And a rom has "most" of the game, but not all.  If I play a rom I will notice what is missing almost imediatly.  Anyway I am not going to discuss what "roms" miss.

The story: copied strait from the instruction manuel!

Transylvania - a small, peaceful counrty in the hear of medieval Europ.

The people of Transylvania whisper the legend of Dracula to their children at bedtime, only half-believeing it to be untrue.  "The forces of good keep a watchful eye over the land, protecting all who live here.  But even during the constant vigil, the forces of evil manage to chant unspeakable prayers.  Thus is Dracula, the Prince of Darkness, resurrected upon the face of the earth.  And each time he is manifested, his powers grow stronger."  Once, long ago, Dracula was indeed revived in this manner.  However, his ambitions to plague the word into darkness and build a kingdome of evil were crushed by the hero Christopher Belmont.

(Side note.  Christopher Belmont is played in the Game Boy castlevania game called.  "Castlevania Adventure" the game isn't that great.  Back to the story as written in the manuel)

Follwoing Dracula's demise at the hands of Christopher belmont, the Transylvanian countryside slept peacefully for 100 years.  Then one easter night, the townspeople were celebrating the joyous holiday with a splendid carnival.  But, in the ruins of the old monastery on the edge of town, the followers of darkness were holding a Black Mass to revive the evil Count and give him eternal life.  They poured a sacrafice of human blood over his remains.  As they did so, an ominous thundercloud enveloped the town.  Suddenly, a Darness, returned to this world to begin a new reign of terror.

But all was not lost.  The successor to the Blemont family bloodline, a young man by the name of Simon, was determined to rid the land of this terrible evil.  Takeing the mysterious whip left to him by his father, he ventured into Dracula's castle to face the Count - alone.

The moves: (they can be switched around)

Jump the "x" button
Swing whip left/right the "square" or "circle"
Jump and swing whip down: Jump in the air and press "down left" or "down right" or while in mid-air you can press "down" as you use the whip.
Jump and swing whip horizontally (this isn't in the manuel) jump and while in mid air, swing the whip.  This is good to kill bats and medusa heads that fly at you.
Special Item press up and "square" or "circle" can also be done in mid-air.

Boomerang a.k.a. "banshee boomerang" " cross" it looks like a + and you throw it.  It will fly to the edge of the screen and back to you.  Very deadly and the best weapon in most cases.

Knife a.k.a "dagger" a knife that is thrown.  Very fast but not powerful

Axe: as deadly as the chain whip.  Trown in the air and comes down.

Holy wather: basically useless (I don't care what the book says)  you throw it on the ground and a small flame erupts.  It is only good at killing enemies below you.

Stop watch a.k.a it freezes all enemies (except bosses after level one) only lasts a few seconds.

Cross: it will kill all enemies on the screen.  Can only be used once.  It is automatically used as soon as you pick it up.

Invisibility Ointment a.k.a "invincability potion" makes you invincable to enemy attack.

Whip Primary weapon.  You start with a leather one.  Then you get whip upgrades as you progress threw the stage.  When you die, you lose all your upgrades.

Herb: heals you.

There are 8 levels in this game.

Count Dracula

Boss stratagy.  Works both on "arranged" and "origianl" modes.  Starting with Medusa.

Medusa: Her Attacks: Stone beam. Will temporarily turn you into stone.  You just have to duck to avoid this attack.

Tail whip: Most used.  Usually only used if you get hit with the "Stome Beam" or "Hair toss"

Hair toss: NOTE: Medusa's hair is all snakes.  She will jump in the air and threw three at you.  If you duck and use your whip, you should not get hit.

Too kill her is quite simple.  First off,  as long as she doesn't hit you she won't jump around the screen useing the "Tail Whip".  Remain at ac ducking position and whip her.  Try to remain as far from her as as possible.  If she moves further back then walk a little closer.  She should be as far from you as possible but yet as close to you  that just the edge of your whip will hit her.  If she moves closer (may do so useing the "Hair toss" then walk away from her a little and keep your head down!

After I accidently figured this out, I beat her without as scratch on her.

I will re-do this battle and try  to describe it better.

Wearwolf: Attacks are: Jump around the clocke ripping concreat or numbers off and throwing them at you.  She will "evade" or attack at a distance rather then to just punch you.  Will however attack you with the hour hand of the clock when almost dead (or out of concreat and numbers).

Too kill her, basically you want to dodge the concreat and numbers and try to hit her.   Will  takec some pracitce.  But you should get the hand of it.  When she gets the hour hand then it is basically and "easy kill" just keep your distance and beat the sh....*E-hem!* out of her.

Mirror Match: I had to draw this up quickly.  The boss will jump to the top platform and jump down ad attack.  Or will stand in the middle of the screen and whip you.  Just work you way over to one of the side platforms and let him play chase.  When the boss is where the "a" are. (and walking away from you) then whip him there.   It is very possible to win this battle without a scratch on you!

It is not necessary to have the herbs to win this battle or any weapon as a matter of fact.  Quite easy, isn't it?

When you make your way to the final corridor before you fight him (will start off looking like a grassey filed) whip enemies until you get the herbs.  I have only been able to beat him with the herbs.  You also need about 40 hearts.

Also, don't jump.  Just keep whipping the axe knights and medusa heades.  Usually one of the axe knights will drop the herbs.  But until you get them, keep walking back and forthe killing enemies.  Once I ran out of time before I got them.

Death: Attacks: small syckle throw.  Somall syckles will appear spinning and will attack you.  You cand destroy them.

BIG syckle throw.  He will throw his big cyckle at you.  You will usually get hit.

Vortex: a small vortex will appear and small skulls will fly at you.  You can kill them but ducking and whipping them.  The vortex it'self won't hurt you.  Then he will usually throw his big syckle at you.

Syckel swipe:  will swing his syckle at you  and will be flying towards you as he attacks.

To kill him use the herb when you life is half full (or half gone as some people say).  And just whip him until he dies.

It is possible (but very hard) to beat him with the boomerang.  Don't even attempt to use the axe.

(comming soon the walkthew of  the last level!)

Before you fight Dracula
First what you want to do is get your weapons from the candles.  You will get a cross in the first candle.  Use your cross to destroy the three candles in a row (in the area before his room) and collect hearts.  Eventrally, like in the older Castlevania games, you will get the double and tripple shots.  By the time you get the tripple shot you will have enought time to beat him and more then enought heats to fight him.  When you first enter his room you want to destroy all candles.  The last candle has Holy Water.  Just let it dissapear.  That is the worst weapon you can use.

First Form: His attacks are: throws three randome fireballs at you until almost dead then will throw about eight at you.

What to do is you have to hit him and then (while ducking) whip the fire balls before they kill you.  It is best to keep at a good distance and use a boomerang to hit his face.  Then crouch and swing the whip.  It will take some time for you to get used to the timeing.

If he happens to appear right infront of you.  Walk away a couple of feet and prepair to whip the fire balls.  Don't even attempt to attack him or you WILL get hit.  Just doing this you risk getting hit but have a much better chance of not getting hit at all.

Eventrually his head will expload and his second form will appear (reall cool looking).

Second Form: His attacks are: will shoot out fire from his mouth.  Jump up and down and try to crush you.  And jump high in the air and shoot missles at you (they fall strait down so they are easy to dodge)

How to kill him.  Use your boomerangs as fast as you can and try to get awayfrom him when he jumps.  If he jumps and you can not see him on the screen then he will shoot the missles at you so you want run!

Believe it or not but it took me only two tries to kill his second form.  The first time I didn't have the tripple shot.  But it took me a long time to kill his first form.

The Dracula battle is the same on "arranged mode" on "normal" and the "Original" mode.  He just looks different.

Well I don't have much of a walkthrew...yet.  But at least you know how to kill Dracula.

In "original mode" you start level 1 again as stage 25.  And it is harder!

Some healpfull information.

Level 1.  Before you go down the basement most veterans of Castlevania know about a secret stock of meat hidden in the wall.  Well there are those ugly "Igors" that will just jump out and kill you so leave that wall allone.

Level 4. In the room with the giant statue.  When you first enter the room walk over to the wall.  Jump up and press <== to walk "threw" the wall and get powerups.  There is some meat in the top left candle.  Wheather you use your whip or knife, boomerand, axe.  You should still be able to get it before it dissapears (although it will be close)

In the room where a stain glass soldier forms out of the window.  If you jump down (all the way to the bottom) as soon as it appears.  It will follow you.  And will get "stuck" on the bottom.  That way you shouldn't get hit my him when he attacks you after he self destructs.

What will happens is that after you climb to the top.  You will walk along a corrador with small stain glass windows.  When you pass by the second one, he will blow up ( wheather he is by you or on the bottom) and his shield will break up and fling glass at you.  When you have him "stuck" on the bottome.  You have too keep running or you will get hit.  This is a most helpful tip especially on the "Original Mode".

Level 7

Towards the end you will see Frankinstein.  He won't die.  You have to run away from him.

The best weapon against the Grim Reaper is the "Herbs" simply kill enemies before you fight him until you get the "herb".  Then when you fight him your whip will be sutable enough to handle him.  (This was done on the "Arranged Mode" on the "Normal" difficulty.

How did I beat the game so quickely?

Castlevania one for the NES is very similar to this one and I spend alot of hourse playing that game.  The levels that changed were levels 2,3,5,6,and level 8.  And all levels were changed slightly.  (Even level one)
