There may be alot of information here, there really isn't any quick and easy way for me to expalin this. It isn't as complex as it may sound. You should read all that is posted here. This is the safest way to hack the game. It isn't worth it to get a hex editor and it is un neccessary and you probably have heard of a "text editor" wordpad (which comes with Windows) is a text editor. Everything that is typed in normal text is from the actual file(s). Everything that is in bold or in italics is what I type. When you are at the desk top on your computer, go into "my computer" "C drive" "Digital Tome" "Art Lib" and the folder named "Players". You will see the player.pox file. If it doesn't say "player.pox" then right click on it and in the small menu will come up and click on "properties" and it will give you what kind of file it is. You can used word pad (which comes with Windows 98/NT to open the file. Below is how the player.pox file will look like when accessed. This isn't the compleat file for alot of information doesn't need to be here. Unless I have instructions on how to hack the file, do not mess with it. And DO NOT CUT AND PAST what I have on this page into your player.pox file. For the following to take effect, after you modify the file (chang things), you must save it. That is why I reccomend that you make a back up file first. Just incase you totaly mess up. And when you creat a back up. Just right click the player.pox file. Click on copy and past it some where else then other then where the digital tome stuff is. I usually have it in my documents or in a folder on my desk top labled "john's stuff" for example. POXALC [HEADER] FileName=Player.gif GameClass=Character Blend=None BlendAmount=0 UseLighting=Vert TransparentColor=16776960 ImagePacking=IndividualFrames Highlightable=Yes CollisionHeight=101 FrameMultiplier=2 ImageWidth=148 ImageHeight=130 EditorImage=0 Actions=Stand,Attack1,BowAttack,Cast,Pain,Death,Walk,Run CollisionRadius=16 CollisionOffset=70 [Action Walk] NWFrames=225,226,227,228,229,230,231,232,LOOP NNFrames=233,234,235,236,237,238,239,240,LOOP SWFrames=273,274,275,276,277,278,279,280,LOOP WWFrames=281,282,283,284,285,286,287,288,LOOP MovementPerFrame=5 the number 5 can be raised or lowered. If your system has choppy game play, then I wouldn't raise this past 20. [Action Run] NWFrames=297,298,299,300,301,302,303,304,LOOP SWFrames=345,346,347,348,349,350,351,352,LOOP WWFrames=353,354,355,356,357,358,359,360,LOOP MovementPerFrame=10 the number 10 can be raised or lowered. If your computer has choppy game play then I wouldn't raise this past 20. Below here, you can have any weapon, item or armor that can be equipped typed in here. Such as any armor that can be equipped on leg1 can be there. But you can't have any armor that can be equipped on leg1 that can only be equipped on leg 2. You may be a bit confused now but you will under stand when you look below. [Layers] naked=HumanMaleLayers\BaseHumanMale.gif This can be changed to something like HumanFemaleLayers/BaseHumanFemale.gif. But last time when I tried to play with this, when I ran I turned invisable. So it is neat to play around with but don't bother to play the game seriously with this "hack" for it will quickly get old. leg1= leg2= boot=LowLeatherBoots You can deleate this and have any shoe/boot equipped here. chest1= chest2= arm= belt= chest3= gauntlet= outer= head= (leave this one alone) helmet= weapon= shield= misc2=comletter You can remove the comletter and have something else in it's place. You can type in misc1 and misc2 and what weapon you wish to have equipped here. Such as the following. misc1= (weapon name) misc3= (weapon name) To find your weapons/items/armor, go from the player.pox go back and click on the "data base" folder and then click on Items.db and use the same program that you used with the player.pox to view it. Alot of the items are in code format and will take some figureing out of what they are. Here is a good example of what you can have here for the most fun in the game. Keep in mind that as your stats get raised, so do the enemies! Some will still be easier to kill though and some will be at the same difficulty. Also, some of what I have below isn't the most powerful weapon/item/armor to have. It is there for an example. Also some of it is from other chapters. If you have only several chapters (not all of them, just a few) that you bought and downloaded from www.siege-of-avalon.com then you won't be able to use some of what I have below. If you bough the CD at a store then you have nothing to worry about. Go into the item.db folder (as explained in the previous paragraphs) and look up what items you have. To find something quick. Press [Ctrl] + "F" and type in something like [leg1] with the brackets [] included and you will be able to find all the items that can be equipped there. Or you can just read it name by name. Don't use that search to find items/weapons/armor because chances are that the filename will be different from the item's name that you are looking for. Such as if your looking for the "chalice of life", the file name is just "chalice" and you probably wont find it threw that quick search. Everything in bold is what I have added. If the game crashes then you probably misspelled something. Or the file name doesn't exist on your PC yet. Also there are a few in chapter one where the name is there, but the art work isn't. Such as "morningstar" and the game will crash if you attempt to use it or look at your inventory screen. If you have all six chapters or the CD version, then you have nothing to worry about. naked=HumanMaleLayers\BaseHumanMale.gif leg1=PlateGreaves2 leg2=merPlateGreaves2 boot=shadowboots chest1=HeavyChainmail chest2=HeavyGoldChainmail arm=EleytheanUpperArmGuards belt=DTQuiver chest3=HeavySilverChainmail gauntlet=PyroArcaneGluv outer=TabardTaberland head= (leave this one alone) helmet=Helmet99 weapon=OrnateGeneralSword (general Overon's Sword-Ch6) shield=KShieldCross misc2=DTRing1 misc1=Chalice (this is the chalice of life) misc3=DTRing2 After you type this all in you MUST save the file, now you know why you should make a back up file first. ****RECIEVE ALL THE SPELLS***** Below is where you can get all the spells in the game. Unless you have beaten the game I wouldn't suggest you use this cheat for it will take away the replay value of the game and when you play it without the cheats, the game will be boreing. To get all the spells and some spells that you never recieve in the game. Go into "My computer" "C drive" and "Digital Tome" and "Siege" and find the file named Siege.INI. You may have to right click it and go into properties. It should looke like a notepad document with a small gear on it. I don't know what it will look like if you have something like Microsoft Word 2000. This is part of the file. Also, there may be different settings because this is from the CD version. If you have the download version and make some of the settings like the CD version you will probably crash your game. You may have to type in AllSpells=true there are still some spells that only the enemy gets such as the spell to summon skeletons. But these spells are just plain fun. The spell that protect you from poison is still in the game. Digital Tome decided not to use any poison attacks so that spell is useless. [Settings] ArtPath=C:\PROGRA~1\DIGITA~1\SIEGEO~3\ArtLib\Resources TilePath=C:\PROGRA~1\DIGITA~1\SIEGEO~3\ArtLib\Tiles SoundPath=C:\PROGRA~1\DIGITA~1\SIEGEO~3\ArtLib\Resources\Audio MoviePath=C:\PROGRA~1\DIGITA~1\SIEGEO~3\Movies OpeningMovie=SiegeOpening.bik ClosingMovie=SiegeClosing.bik ShowIntro=true AllSpells=true UseVideo=true MusicVolume=50 SoundVolume=64 Shadows=1 Brightness=0 ****TRAINING POINTS CHEAT***** To get a ton of training points you will have to modify the conversations. To open the .cnv files you can use word pad. They are located from the desk top go into "My computer" "C drive" "Program Files" "Digital Tome" Siege of Avalon" "Art Lib" "Resources" "Conversations" and look for who you want to give you more training points. I have and easy quest, the "rose and love letter" quest. That can all be done on one floor. I have the walkthrew in my chaper one walkthrew. This is from the Anora.cnv file most of it has been removed from here. Just look for [Dave2] to find what you need. [Davet2] Say=Excellent. I thank you for all your work, soldier. You've my word that once we've more supplies, the finest pie that I can bake will be your reward. RemoveQuest=ch1-04; script=player.addtitle(01happycook);player.setprop(trainingpoints=4);showmessage(You have received some training points,200); RspDflt=Though it was only my duty to assist you, madame, I shall still eagerly anticipate your creation! Until then, a good day to you! Where I have trainingponts=4 in bold you can change that 4 to any number that you wish. I don't know if it will go above 999 but I have heard of other users saying that they used 200 TP's. |
This is a walkthrew on how to hack the game files. What I have here is from what I have messed around with. There may still be a bug or two, like if you decided to play as a femail charactor. Last time I did that I turned invisable when I ran. Or if you try and equip a blouse you you. I could call you stupid fro even trying that but I wont for one reason...I...well I um...did that...Ok! I confessed I wanted my guy to run around in womans' cloathing! Now here is the walk threw before I confess anything else. |

NOTE: Digital Tome does not have to fix the game for you if you mess up and "break" it. As long as you have a back up copy of the file(s) that you modified and deleated all the saved games that were effected from this "bug" then you should be ok, after you restored the modified files(s) and deleated all the saved games that were effected from these bugs and glitches. The only files that can really cause any major problems if you mess them up are the .cnv files. A good example was that a person recently got 5000 training points from one of the .cnv files. And when s/he got to the unicorne quest in chapter 3, that user wasn't able to save the unicorn because the Sha'ahoul stats were also raised (that is normal, the keep the game play from being too easy to too hard) and the unicorn was killed on the first few hits. Thatt person ended up haveing to "fix" the .cnv that gave him the 5000 training points and deleate all the effected saved games and start over. |
******RECIEVE ITEMS FROM NPC'S (non playable charactors)********** The following below was originally posted on the Digital Tome discussion boards by Josh Hergott a.k.a. Targon the Dwarf NOTE: this is only part of his post. He also mentioned about how to get training points but I took that out because it is already mentioned on this page already. here is how to get items Just open up a conversation file and edit the script. Open the Items file to find what you want to add. I'll use Holly as an example: ----------------------- First, open the file for Holly. ----------------------- Second, find this: Items Given= Taken= Checked= Added= In the "Added=" part, put in the item name... I'll use ArcaneDrk. ----------------------- Now find this: Holly1 Say=I'm Holly and I'm an extra kitchen hand. I'm from Oriam, though there's not much of Oriam left. The Ahoul have just about destroyed any of the country I would remember. After this line, add in: 'Script=player.additem(ArcaneDrk);' without the quotes. That'll give you an item. Add in: ----------------------- So, our finished product will look like this: Say=I'm Holly and I'm an extra kitchen hand. I'm from Oriam, though there's not much of Oriam left. The Ahoul have just about destroyed any of the country I would remember. Script= player.additem(ArcaneDrk); RspDflt=I'm sorry for your loss, but Oriam will be avenged and rebuilt. |
