Stance is likely to change

As a Baptist layperson who believes that the government should get out of the marrying business, that the church should welcome, affirm and on occasion "marry" homosexuals, that such legal and financial benefits as currently obtain for married couples ought to be equally available to other sorts of domestic units, and that homosexuals are not ipso facto less fit to be parents than heterosexuals, I was saddened but not surprised to see the Southern Baptist Convention vote to boycott Disney products over this issue. I will predict that 40 years from now the prevailing Protestant position on this issue will be in line with what I have proposed above (with the possible exception of my first plank) and the current Southern Baptist position will be as outdated in most Christians' eyes as the pope's position on ordaining women, if not as simply sinful as the racial attitudes once prevalent in those same SBC circles.
