An admitted mob hitman who turned government informer stunned a courtroom by describing
how he bombed, shot or strangled members of the underworld.
Under cross-examination in Federal Court Tuesday(12/5/78), Aladeno "Jimmy the Weasel"
Fratianno admitted he was responsible for the 1977 slaying of racketeer Daniel Green
in Cleveland and Frank "Bomp" Bompensiero in San Diego.
"What happened to Green?" defense attorney Robert Ellis asked.
"His car blew up," Fratianno said, "He was killed by a bomb."
"What happened to Bompensiero?"
"He got shot," Fratianno replied, " I participated in it, but I didn't shoot him.
"What were the murders you did yourself?"
"Frank Borgia, Trombino Brondello, Frank Nicoli and Russian Louise."
"You were the person who actually shot, bombed or strangled these people?"
"Yes, Sir, " Fratianno replied.
Fratianno, a former San Francisco crime boss, now in protective custody, said he was
also involved in five other murders on the west coast between 1947 and 1953.
A $100,000 gangland contract for Fratiannos murder reportedly was put out last year
when he turned government informer after being arrested for killing Green and Bompensiero.
Fratianno testified that in 1974, three years before he took part in his 11th gangland
murder, he had gone to the FBI to tell of his criminal activities. But he said he
" didn't become an FBI informer until a contract was put out on me."
Fratianno made the disclosures at a bankruptcy fraud trial of eight persons, three
of them reportedly connected to the mob.
they are accused of skimming profits and engaging in other fraudulent activities that
allegedly led to the financial collapse of the Westchester Premier Theater in Westchester
County.
