~ Ten dancing Princess and two dancing Princes. ~

The dark blue eyed boy shoved his sword high, blocking the downward thrust made by the thief. The thief fell back at the force behind the blue eyed boy’s next thrust. His eyes widening the thief shot away in a show of amazing speed.

Heero made to go after the culprit but came up short when his companion put a hand on his shoulder.

"Let him go." Trowa said. It was almost a speech for the tall quiet boy. His hair was cropped short but somehow defied the laws of physics and a long bang always covered one eye.

Heero growled but didn’t pursue; he ran a hand through his own unruly hair and walked back to the old lady.

The woman smiled up at him and patted him on the cheek.

"Oh, dearie, thank you so much, I wish I had something to repay you both with." She looked flustered.

Heero shook his head.

"We don’t want anything, really."

"Oh but I must give you something!" the woman insisted she snapped her fingers suddenly and turned around to her cart.

Trowa came closer and raised an eyebrow.

Finally the woman turned around with two cloaks. The cloaks caught the sunlight and their black fabric’s shinned.

"Oh! These should do, they are invisibility cloaks! Try them on if you want."

Heero blinked but did as she suggested, when he pulled the hood up he was suddenly invisible Trowa nodded to where he thought Heero was standing and watched as Heero took the hood off, standing a few feet away.

"Thank you miss." Heero said.

The old lady smiled then snapped her fingers again.

"Oh! That reminds me, are you two boys heading up to the castle?"

They both nodded.

"Going to try your luck at the big mystery?" She asked.

Again they both nodded.

"Well, I suppose this advice may help, if the Princesses offer you some wine, pretend to drink it and then pretend to be asleep, but if you want to be successful, do not really drink the wine!" She warned.

Heero nodded, committing to memory what she’d told them.

"Thank you miss, we must be on our way now, so good day to you!"

Trowa bowed and then the two of them walked off, in the direction of the castle.

King Wufie was stumped. It wasn’t that he didn’t have lots of money, it was more that he couldn’t figure out WHY his children’s shoes were always wreaked in the mornings.

Yes, that was the injustice! Every night, before his darlings went to bed, their shoes were fine and normal, every morning when they woke, their shoes were tattered and he found himself buying twelve new pairs.

Now unlike a normal king who is married to a queen, Wufie’s last wife had died under terrible circumstances, or at least that’s what he wanted to believe, it was more along the lines of she’d left him… but whatever the excuse, Wufie had his lover Trieze, and they well, loved each other.

Anyway! Back to the story!

As it goes, Wufie finally had enough of it, not that there was a lot of it, rather there was a lack of it. It being an excuse or reason WHY the shoe’s got scrapped every night, so he made a proclamation:

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, Whomsoever shall discover why the king’s children’s shoes are full of holes every morning shall be permitted to marry one of the children of their choice And, if they so wish shall inherit the kingdom when the king passes away.

Of course, no one had noticed the slight flaw in the proclamation, but who cared, as long as king Wufie found out, right?

Princes came from far, and from wide, and from out of those funny looking hill sides, but none could figure out why the children’s shoes were full of holes every single morning. Hell, even a few hopeful Princesses tried.

Now even though the king had been blessed with ten beautiful girls he was also blessed with two beautiful (yes we said beautiful) boys!

Now in the king’s eyes they were both wonderful… err, in their own way.

His youngest son, who was named Duo, had a slightly destructive streak: ‘that was the Lady Sally’s prize vase, Duo!’

His second youngest was quiet, shy tentive, sweet, innocent, blonde little thing, who would blush at the drop of a hat, and was intirely too trusting: ‘Quatre, it was the dog who chewed it up! See he’s attacking your other one now.’ ‘But I trust him, he wouldn’t do something like that!’

The girls however were just the way young princesses should be… as far as the king knew.

That particular day, since no one was around and all the Royal business had been taken care of, the King was in his throne making out with his lover when suddenly those damned loud and annoying trumpets sounded, causing the groping couple to startle and stop their naughty little wondering hands.

Wufie stood up, getting out of Trieze’s lap and stood back so he could sit in the throne properly.

Trieze stood to one side, waiting for the incredibly heavy doors at the other end of the room to open.

Wufie adjusted his shirt and also waited.

The visitor’s didn’t wait for the doors to be all the way back before they entered.

The two young men strode down the long carpet stretch until they came before the King, both of them bowed and waited for the King to ask what their business was.

Wufie cleared his throat.

"Welcome visitors, what business brings you here?"

Heero looked up from his kneeling and spoke.

"We’re here to solve the mystery of your children’s shoes, Your Highness."

Trowa nodded.

Wufie sighed, more lambs to the flock.

"Very well. You will be showed your rooms, and you have three nights to find out what happens or…" he tapped his sword and the two men nodded.

Servants came and showed the two of them where their rooms were, right across from the Princes rooms.

When the two men had gone Wufie turned back to his lover and grabbed his hand.

"Bedroom." The taller man nodded and let the king lead him to their room, a small smirk playing across his face.

*

Duo poked his head out of the corridor and looked around; not spotting anyone the braided prince crept out of his room, followed by Quatre. The two princes snuck down the corridor, at 12 o’clock at night to their sister’s room.

Behind the two boys, inside their invisibility cloaks Trowa and Heero followed.

Earlier that night the braided boy had convinced them to drink some wine, Heero and Trowa followed the old woman’s advice and pretended to drink then fall asleep, now in their magical cloaks the two traveller’s followed the princes.

Heero, who was in front had a nice view of Duo’s backside, and couldn’t help the little thoughts that forced their way into his head.

Trowa wasn’t thinking about backside’s at all, his own mind was stuck on the blonde prince’s eyes, of course it didn’t stop at the eyes, it wondered down to that mouth, soft and shapely, so kissable, he could imagine kissing it so much.

If anyone ever asked the boy’s weather they had girlfriends, the answer was of course, no, the word boyfriend however, had often a different result, thus leading girls to back off. Unfortunately it wasn’t a lie.

So there they were, four boys sneaking down the corridor toward the girl’s room; it sounded like something out of a book!

*

As Duo walked he blushed, he felt like someone was… well… staring at his ass!

Now he knew Quatre had no interest in girls in THAT way, but they were brothers and the mere thought sent shivers down anyone’s spine. So Duo was left with the question, who the fuck was checking him out?

"Ah, Quatre?" Duo finally said.

The blonde jumped and met Duo’s gaze.

"Yes, Duo, I feel it too."

Duo shivered.

"Oh… for a minute there I was worried it was you."

Quatre spluttered.

"Duo! That’s… as if I would do something like that! Honestly!"

Duo relaxed and they stopped walking.

"Well I was just checking."

"Hmph! Trust me if there was anyone I’d be checking out…"

Quatre’s eyes glazed over and he seemed to go back into his own little world.

Duo was not the type to pass the chance to know if his brother had a crush and slipped up to the blonde, poking him in the ribs.

"Oh, Quatre’s got a crush! C’mon tell me!"

Quatre blushed.

"Well I was just ah thinking… oh boy, we’re gonna be let, better hurry on now!" Quatre failed at trying to change the subject.

"I’m not going anywhere until you tell!"

The blonde turned a shade of red.

"Uh, you know that guy that uh, came in… the one with ah…"

Duo prodded him again.

"Funny hair?"

Duo grinned suddenly.

"Oh, well that’s understandable, I thought they were cute… specially his friend… Hiro wasn’t it?"

Quatre lost his blush and nodded.

"Okay, can we go now, they may wake up soon… and you know our sister’s would get angry." Duo nodded and the two princes hurried on.

Leaving the two trailing men standing dead still, in shock.

Heero waited till Duo was around the corner before slipping of his hood, followed by Trowa doing the same.

The two boys stood dumb struck at what they’d heard.

"Did… they… just?" Heero finally got out.

Trowa nodded.

"No way we’ll let them get away now!" Heero said, slipping the hood back on and hurrying after them.

Trowa slipped his own hood back on and followed whispering two words before he went around the corner.

"Little one…"

*

The door to the room opened and the four boys slipped in, Heero and Trowa having to dash for it as it was already closing after the two princes.

Once the two invisible boys were inside they looked around, the girls were all wearing their best dresses and had their shoes on, neither said anything, rather watching to see what happened.

The oldest looked around and nodded. "Are you all ready?" she asked, the girls and princes nodded.

"Good." And with this she pressed a carved leaf to one side of her bed. The bed gave a sort of creaking sound and moved to one side, revealing a hidden passageway.

The princesses picked up their many skirts and hurried down the steps, the oldest leading the way and the two boys bringing up the rear.

Heero followed first, trusting that Trowa was behind him, as he couldn’t actually see the other man.

The two soldiers ran after the girls and boys and caught up to them on the bottom step, unfortunately for Heero he tripped on the hem of his cloak and fell to the ground, making an ‘umph’ sound. Duo turned and frowned looking behind them.

"Oi! Guys, I heard something behind us!"

The second oldest sister turned. "Don’t be silly Duo! It was just your imagination, now hurry, we mustn’t be late."

Quatre turned and took Duo’s hand, dragging him along.

Heero let out a breath and stood up again, adjusting his cloak and following them. From behind him he heard soft laughter. "Smooth." Trowa chuckled. Heero just glared at where he supposed his friend to be.

"Hn."

*

At the bottom of the steps there was a wood, in which all the trees had silver leaves, Heero paused and wondered how the hell they managed to do that to the leaves. Trowa sighed and broke off one, slipping it into his pocket.

"What was that?" asked Duo in alarm, as he heard the twig snap.

Trowa silently cursed the braided prince’s good hearing.

"Honestly Duo! It was nothing, now come on!" Quatre said. Grabbing his arm again and hurrying him along.

Trowa left out a breath, Heero was smirking, and he just knew it.

"Hn." The other boy said. Trowa didn’t say anything just continued walking.

*

Next they came to an avenue in which all the trees had golden leaves. Heero wondered what the hell an avenue of trees was, but didn’t ask out loud. Trowa again snapped another leaf off.

"I swear I’m not hearing things!" Duo said.

Quatre sighed. "Well then your insane, now come on, it’s probably just a squirrel or something." He said.

The braided prince glared but continued.

Trowa and Heero paused, throwing back their hoods to speak.

"Juess, what’s wrong with him." Trowa said, pocketing the leaf.

Heero shrugged.

They put the hoods back on and caught up with the royal children where they stood at the edge of a lake, where twelve boats with twelve hansom princes awaited them.

Duo grinned at his ‘date’ and got into the boat, closely followed by the glaring Heero, who shot daggers at the prince who was rowing and making eyes at Duo.

Of course, the rowing prince didn’t notice the glaring; he did however notice the extra weight.

"Wow Duo, I think you’re eating habits are starting to effect you." the man said.

Duo looked at him Quizzically. "What do you mean?"

"The boat is heavier tonight then usual."

The braided boy scowled but didn’t say anything.

In another boat Trowa was gazing at Quatre who was almost oblivious to it and chatting away with the prince who rowed the boat.

*

The princesses and princes piled out of the boats and hurried along a path and into a large palace, where the sounds of partying and merry making was going on.

And the moment Heero and Trowa stepped inside the palace, they figured the mystery out.

The ten princesses and two princes danced the entire night, well most of it anyway, they danced, made out, and ate, well Duo ate mainly.

Just before dawn the princesses and princes rowed back across the lake and ran home, their shoes in tatters.

Heero and Trowa beat them to the palace and ran inside their room, taking off their cloaks and laying down where they’d left.

When the princesses got home they sent the two princes to check on the soldiers, the boys peeked through the door and smiled.

"Safe…"

*

Heero and Trowa followed the girls and boys the next night as well, having figured out that King Wufie would not be happy to know his boys weren’t going to give him any heirs.

On the third night they followed the princesses and princes again, this night however Heero snatched the cup which Duo had been drinking out of and put it in a pocket inside his cloak.

Duo wondered what the hell had happened to his drink but got another one anyway.

*

That morning King Wufie gathered the princesses and princes into the throne room, and sent for the two boys.

"You time is up. Either tell me why their shoes are worn through every morning or be banished."

Trowa thought that was a tad harsh, but since he had the answer, who the hell cared?

The two boys stood and approached the king, taking out their evidence and telling Wufie all that they had seen.

"… And so in conclusion they’re shoes are worn because they dance all night." Heero finished.

Everyone gapped at him. The princesses were all pale, Duo was looking quite shocked then he snapped his fingers. "I knew it! Someone was following us! HA! Take that Q-man!"

Quatre sweat dropped.

The oldest sister cleared her throat. "We must confess, its true."

Wufie was to say he least pissed with the girls.

"You’re grounded for a month! And I’m getting rid of that passageway!"

They all groaned and sulked off to their rooms. Leaving the two princes behind.

Quatre and Duo visibly paled.

"As for you two… Mr. Heero, and Mr. Trowa, would you mind explaining why THEIR shoes are in tatters?"

Trowa blushed and Heero coughed and leaned forward, whispering into the king’s ear.

Wufie felt his eyes go wide and brought out his handkerchief, to stop his sudden nosebleed.

When the king had stopped bleeding he looked at his two sons. Who of course were blushing bright red.

"I… am… so…" Wufie started.

Duo cringed and Quatre winced.

"PROUD! Oh, my! How wonderful! I always thought I’d rub off onto you, tell me are your boyfriend’s cute?"

Quatre, Trowa and Heero all fell over. Duo looked shocked but quickly started answering Wufie’s questions.

Quatre leaned in and whispered to Trowa. "You know how weird that is? Those two never get along, normally dad’s trying to kill Duo and stuff… this is just weird. By the way…" the blonde trailed off and blushed at how close he was to the tall man.

"Do you have a girlfriend?"

Trowa smiled and brushed his hands under Quatre’s chin. "I don’t like girls."

Quatre giggled excitedly and neverously at the same time.

Heero rolled his eyes and looked back to where the king was talking with his son. The soldier cleared his throat trying to get the king’s attention.

Wufie looked up and smiled.

"Oh yes, your reward!" Wufie said. He smiled, rather happy now that he had everything solved.

"So which one of my lovely girls do you wish to marry?" Wufie asked.

His eyes slide to check on Quatre and he blinked.

Trowa was bending down and Quatre was on his tiptoes, they were locked in a deep soul searching kiss, Trowa’s arm on Quatre’s waist and the blonde’s hand on Trowa’s shoulder.

Quatre pressed his body closer to the taller man.

Wufie pulled out his handkerchief and pressed it to the sudden blood flow. "Eep!"

Heero frowned and was about to say something else when Duo slide up to him and put an arm around him. "Hello cutie." The braided boy said.

Heero gave him his best glare, that said; I’m doing business here, buzz off. The braided boy wasn’t effected and kissed Heero’s check.

Forgetting where he was Heero turned and captured Duo’s lips. Their mouths battled and lips parted, tongues duelling.

Wufie didn’t stand a chance; he fell back and fainted.

~ End.
