Yugi leaned against the boxes tensely. The wooden sword at his neck made him uneasy, despite Yamis reassurances that the golem wouldnt kill him. the streets were deserted and he was the only living soul around, excepting the wood-golem.
The wind stirred the night air and Yugi swallowed nervously. He would be fine as long as his father didnt try anything.
There was no sound from the crates behind him. Ryo and Seto had been tied up and placed inside according to the pirates, but Yugi hadnt even heard them stir. There could be the chance that Jounouchi had knocked them unconscious, but it still freaked the prince a little. And then there was Marik, who had flat-out refused to be returned back home. He seemed to think Ryo would kill him.
Yugi had seen the fight.
He had to agree.
The trees stirred and distantly the prince heard the clomping of horse hooves. The sword at his neck tightened its grip. Yugi winced.
That hurts.
Shut up. Came the growled reply.
Yugi didnt say anything more. Yami wasnt around to protect him, although he didnt really need protection, it made him feel better around the golem.
The white horses crested the hill and the holy banner of Yugis kingdom flared in the breeze. There must have been a whole squadron of men that rode out of the public harbor. Yugis eyes widened as he saw his father at the crest of the royal army.
King Pegasus looked furious.
Yuuuuuggiii boy! The silver haired ruler called out.
Yugi didnt move, the sword against his neck was thrumming with energy. Father! Dont come any closer!
The king reigned in his horse immediately. What is wrong?
Did you bring the gem that the pirates wanted? Yugi called out hesitantly.
Of course, Yugi boy.
Yugis shoulders visibly relaxed. Then please stay back there and throw the gem toward me. If anyone comes forward, I am told I will be killed.
Pegasus looked gravely at his son. Very well.
Soldiers moved in the ranks and a treasure box came toward the king. Pegasus opened the box and took the large gem inside of it out. It wasnt very big, for the worlds most priceless gem. It was a deep maroon in color, with sparkles of blue and red cast by the light of the sun through its shell. Beautiful, surely. But what made it priceless was the shape. The gem was an apple. Perfectly crafted. Planted in the ground, a tree that flowered gems and jewels would grow from it.
King Pegasus must have surely grieved in his mind when he tossed the gem toward his son. But there were some things that wealth could never buy.
Yugi didnt catch it, Honda did, and the wood golem burst from his concealment, grabbed the gem and took off running faster than Yugi could blink.
Pegasus didnt watch the pirate go, he dismounted and ran to his precious son.
Are you alright? Did they harm you?
Yugi smiled and embraced his father. No. I even made a friend.
