The Azure Arc. Part one: Marlene on the Wall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Azure eyes stared down at the sea, murky thoughts lurking behind those eyes.
Even if I am in love with you
All this to say, what's it to you?
Observe the blood, the rose tattoo
Of the fingerprints on me from you
Silently a winged figure stood at attention behind the sitting azure eyed form.
He would keep watch; protect the child of hope until the last breath of life was stolen from his digital lungs.
The howling wind swallowed the sound of harsh sobbing; the roar of the waves below swallowed the screams torn from a delicate throat. A throat, a voice, a body that should have been worshiped with gentle pleasures.
Angemon had to fight the urge not to cry as well, he just remained impassive, heart breaking in his chest as those sobs reached only his ears.
“Kill me. Please!” The shuddering voice rippled over the wind.
Angemon simply shook his head.
Another scream filled the air, swallowed barely by the crash of the waves below.
How could it be this hard? How could his heart possibly be unable to take these ideas? What kind of self induced torture was this human problem named love?
Other evidence has shown
 “I am sick. Sick to dare to love. Sick to love…” The broken voice screamed at Angemon.
That you and I are still alone
“To love is not a sickness, Takeru.” Angemon replied softly, trying not to feel to sorrow that begged at his heart. How could love possibly be wrong?
We skirt around the danger zone
“I AM sick! I am disgusting. To love another boy… it goes against everything everyone believes in!” Takeru screamed, tearful azure eyes turning upon the Digimon.
 The sound of the wind rushing around them the only background noise save from the breaking waves slapping against the hard stone below them.
And don't talk about it later
“Takeru… love is beautiful, in every shape and form it possesses. Love is not a color or a choice. Love is a power, the most powerful force known to man and Digimon alike. It does not matter what you believe in. love knows no boundaries. Race, age, sex, species…” The angel argued.
Takeru shook his head kneeling before the angel as if he was being judged. “No! Love is only true between a man and a woman!”
Angemon sank to his knees next to Takeru. “Who says this?”
Takeru looked away. “Everyone.”
Angemon leaned closer, lifting Takeru’s chin with a gloved hand. “Then everyone is wrong.”
“But how can that be-?” Takeru burst out. “Everyone knows this kind of thing. I am sick to think otherwise…”
“Is it so impossible to think that everyone could be wrong?” The angel Digimon asked, wiping tears from the child of hope’s azure eyes, brushing golden bangs behind his ears which persistently fell back in unruly disarray.
“…but they are never wrong! I am wrong!” Takeru shivered with cold, his clothing thrashing in the shrieking wind.
“Am I wrong, Takeru-kun?”
Takeru blinked. “No, Angemon. You have never been wrong…”
“Has everyone ever been wrong to you…?”
Uhh…” The small boy looked stumped.
“Has anyone ever been wrong, Takeru-kun?”
“Y-yes. Sometimes.” Takeru finally admitted.
“You can’t use other people’s problems to hide behind. Because in the end if you always rely on others you are left behind. If you cannot choose what you are and how the world should be for yourself, than you are not truly worthy of being a Digidestined. It may work for other people. But you are not other people. You, Takeru, are a fallen angel in need of new wings.”
“I- what?” Takeru asked, suddenly confused.
Angemon smiled. “Don’t worry, I will fix everything…”
But the only soldier now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
Azure orbs opened slowly. The last thing to happen… Angemon, they were talking on top a cliff overlooking the- Takeru blinked. The sea?
Why had he been at the sea? He didn’t remember getting there or… leaving.  Takeru looked around and spotted Patamon’s ear hanging off the top of his bunk bed.
“Patamon! Patamon, wake up?”
The orange Digimon groaned and rolled over. “Wha… what is it T.K?” the Digimon yawned as he spoke.
“Where we on a cliff? By the sea, you were Angemon and I was… upset…” The blonde blinked, finding things were already going fuzzy in his memory. Now what had he been upset about…
“No T.K I don’t think we were on a cliff by the sea. What a weird dream…” Patamon looked at his charge oddly before rolling over. It was a precipice, Patamon thought silently.
Marlene on the wall
“A… a dream…?” Takeru stood back, unsure of himself. But… it was real! The details were getting fuzzier by the minute. Maybe it hadn’t been real?
The blonde sank back to the bed. School wasn’t for another four hours according to his watch. Sighing he drifted back to sleep, unaware of the pair of eyes that watched him.
“Sorry T.K…” a small voice whispered.
Well, I walk to your house in the afternoon
Takeru closed his bedroom door softly, smiling as he heard snoring coming from inside of it. Patamon could sleep a full night and still manage a sleep in.
The blonde was wearing his favourite hat and shirt and cerulean pants.
Chewing a piece of toast T.K made his way out of the house, yelling a goodbye to his mother before picking up his schoolbag and walking out of the house.
 The day was cloudy and he could tell it would probably rain in the afternoon. Takeru smiled, relaxing on the comforting walk to school.
By the butcher shop with the sawdust strewn
“T.P! Oyy!!! Chotto Matte!” An all too familiar voice called out. T.K mentally groaned. “Dai-kun! My name is T.K! T.K not T.P.” He stopped and called back,
good-naturedly.
Daisuke came up at a run, slowing as he came across the fellow Digidestined. “Sorry… T.A, I can never remember. Where were you last night? I called about the
history homework a dozen times but your mum said she hadn’t seen you.”
"Don't give away the goods too soon,”
Takeru blinked, reflecting on the dream he’d had. It had seemed so real… he realized he didn’t actually remember going out that night. “Umm, no where.
 I think I was feeling sick so I hit the sack. Gomen nasai, Dai-kun.” Takeru covered quickly.
Daisuke looked at him strangely for a moment before shrugging.
“Ahh well, it doesn’t matter. I got to go to the movies with Kari because you weren’t there… so I really don’t care.” Daisuke bragged; grinning as he thought this
 would annoy the proverbial immovable T.K’s happy feeling.
Takeru’s eyes darkened, knowing the attempt as what it was. The truth was Daisuke was only in his way for one romantic interest. It wasn’t Hikari.
Is what she might have told me
“That’s nice.” Takeru said, smiling cheerfully as if he didn’t care that Daisuke spent time with Hikari. He didn’t care, truthfully.
Daisuke groaned at the resisted attempt and checked his watch. “Well, let’s get moving slow poke! We’re going to be late. Kari and the others are probably waiting for us!” the brunette said, running ahead of Takeru in his usual energetic way.
Takeru shrugged, pretending his heart didn’t skip a beat when he thought of indigo eyes and raven hair waiting for him.
And I tried so hard to resist
When you held me in your handsome fist
And reminded me of the night we kissed
And of why I should be leaving
The bell rang just as the blonde and brunette got to the school grounds so they missed meeting their friends before class.
Takeru breezed through math and history, copying his notes quickly and trying to ignore Daisuke babbling to him most of the way through both classes.
The bell rang for recess and Takeru’s heart skipped another beat. It was usually like this. This short breath, blush and downcast eyes. He packed his things up almost trembling, no one ever noticed, and if they did than they didn’t care or make comment. Once finished he looked up at Daisuke.
“Ready slow poke? I swear, sometimes I think you don’t want to get out of here when the bells ring.” Daisuke laughed.
T.K blushed and nodded numbly. He had to keep it under control. Taking a deep breath he smiled cheerily and followed Daisuke out.
“Really, I just like to make sure I pack everything and don’t forget anything-”
The teacher interrupted him. “Takeru, you forgot your book.”
Takeru blushed deeply and nodded, accepting his book with a thank you.
Daisuke cracked up. “Yeah, T.K I can see you need to take your time.”
Daisuke teased him all the way down the hall, unmercifully.
They were just outside of the cafeteria when Ken appeared, stopping them. “Hi guys. Wasn’t sure if you two were here today.”
Takeru blushed and kept his eyes down. “Daisuke was talking…” He said lamely.
“Ha! Yeah right, just wait until I tell you about last class Ken-kun… T.H-”
Ken smiled, glancing between the two boys. “Um, Daisuke could you tell me later… I have something I need to ask T.K about…”
Daisuke blinked, unused to Ken not wanting to hear his mindless babbling. He shrugged. “Sure.” The brunette slid past Ken and into the cafeteria.
Takeru darted his eyes upward. “What did you want to talk to me about?” He asked, puzzled.
Uhhhm…”
A long moment passed in which they were both silent.
“Ken-kun?” Azure eyes darted up, meeting a blushing pair of indigo eyes.
Ken coughed. “I... it’s…”
They were silent for a while longer, other students pushing past them with disinterest. Ken coughed again. “Nothing… it’s nothing. Nevermind.”
Takeru looked up again, blushed and nodded. “Sure. Well if you remember than maybe you should tell me…”
Ken nodded and turned, heading back into the cafeteria. Takeru stayed outside for a while, taking a few deep breaths and then keeping his mask of happiness up as he walked into the cafeteria after the raven haired Digidestined.
But the only solider here now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
The day breezed through like wind through grass reeds. Takeru wasn’t sure how he got through lunch, managing to stay quiet and smile when anyone talked to him. His smile hid his pain, of holding in so much that he could hardly stand holding in.
His smile concealed the way his blood froze, his mouth stuttered and his skin flamed when a single image hit his mind like a sledgehammer. His smile veiled the way he felt weak kneed.
Everything he had been feeling every day for so long that it was horrendous in the pain it caused him. Just to go on. Without a word, without expressing the one thing that ate away at him.
Marlene on the wall
“T.J! T.H! Matte!”
Takeru paused mid step and turned, smiling at the panting person that caught up with him. Daisuke bent down over himself panting heavily. “Man, it’s like you zone out on us half the time.” He joked.
Takeru smiled. “Yeah, I guess.” Daisuke shrugged and shouldered his bag. “I’ll walk home with you. Ken is walking Yolie home.”
The words struck Takeru like a bullet through his chest and the blonde staggered in the middle of the pavement. Daisuke jumped and knelt next to Takeru.
“Takeru? Are you alright?”
Takeru didn’t answer, but stared blankly for a while. Daisuke leaned forward, sliding cool hands over Takeru’s wrists. “T.K?”
Takeru’s voice shuddered out. “I have to get home, Dai-kun, not feeling well…” azure eyes filled with tears before Takeru shook his head, willing away the pain in his chest.
Walking…
Yolie…
Home…
But the only solider now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
Daisuke helped his friend to stand blinking softly. “You must have caught a bug or something.” The brunette commented.
“Yeah… must have…” Takeru whispered softly.
Daisuke stayed close as they walked to Takeru’s house, only a few steps from the building Daisuke stopped them.
“Takeru…”
Takeru looked up, straining to smile. To look happy. To not collapse.
“Yes, Daisuke?”
“I…” Daisuke chewed his lower lip for a moment. “Oh screw it; I’m no good at this kind of thing anyway. Look I don’t care what you think but Iloveyou.” He muttered the last three words quickly before leaning forward and snatching the blonde’s lips.
And even if I am in love with you
All this to say, what's it to you?
Observe the blood, the rose tattoo
Of the fingerprints on me from you
There was a moment in which Takeru felt his knees shake, felt a strange heat hit his face, felt his stomach coil before he pulled away violently.
“D- Daisuke…” Takeru whispered brokenly, not able to form words, losing control of the tears that fell from his eyes fiercely.
Other evidence has shown
That you and I are still alone
We skirt around the danger zone
And don't talk about it later
There was a blur of movement in which Takeru turned and ran to his apartment.
And I tried so hard to resist
When you held me in your handsome fist
And reminded me of the night we kissed
And of why I should be leaving
The door banged against its hinges as he ran inside, before slamming back again, Takeru against it.
Takeru sank to the ground tears falling down his face in rivulets.
There was an alarmed expletive before Angemon appeared coming out of the kitchen, seeing the crying boy the Digimon knelt gathering his charge up in his arms and bringing him to his chest.
Takeru wept harder tears mingling with sobs. Not even noticing as the window shattered, as wings flapped and he was lifted across the sky, soaring through the air.
“Angemon…” The blonde cried, azure eyes closed as tears pattered down his cheeks. “He was walking Yolie home! HE WAS WALKING SOMEONE ELSE HOME!”
“Hush, shh. Takeru, hush.”
“And I just smiled. I just smiled and it hurt… it hurt so much! I… it…”
“I know. I know.”
“…I…”
Shh, shh.”
Takeru sobbed harder. Trembling in his angel’s arms. So fragile.
“What about Daisuke, Takeru? I heard you and he talking.” The angel whispered. Big arms holding his charge, soothing voice cocooning him.
But the only one here now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
“Daisuke…”
Changing, Changing, Changing
“He loves you Takeru. Everyone has known about it for weeks. He isn’t as good at hiding these things as you.” Angemon whispered.
“Daisuke kissed me.” Takeru sobbed louder.
“I know.” Angemon hummed. “I saw it.”
White wings pounded lazily at the air, low clouds swirling around large legs.
Takeru stayed in Angemon’s arms.
“… I’m sick.”
“No, Takeru, you’re not sick.”
“I AM sick.”
“Takeru. Daisuke loves you.”
“I’m not worthy of love. I’m worthless.”
“Takeru… you are tired and upset. You are worth just as much as anyone else. If not more to some of us.”
But the only solider here now is me
I'm fighting things I cannot see
I think it's called my destiny
That I am changing
“Don’t worry. I’ll fix everything…” He whispered softly hugging the small form closer.
