This power burns full throttle ignited by the heat of the compressing and decompression of his accordion.
Nathan has been making music for as long as he can remember. I am sure crowds have memories of five year old Nathan standing on stage with his dad playing rub board. His early musical aptitudes are not surprising when one considers the musical backgrounds of his family ; his grandmother taught his aunts and uncles how to play this culturally rich music and his father taught him, Nathan Williams Sr. of Nathan Williams and the Zydeco Cha Chas. His Uncles Dennis Paul Williams, is a nationally known artist and musician, and Sid “El-Sid-O” Williams, is a nationally known Zydeco musician and entrepreneur.
Nathan Picked up other instruments along his musical development. Including drums, piano, and accordion. By the age of 14 Nathan had mastered all three styles of the accordion; piano, diatomic, and triple row. Also, at this tender age he formed a band Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Tymers and released their debut album “Zydeco Ballin’.” He has played various festivals around the region including Lafayette’s biggest art gathering Festival International . He is currently extending his craft and studying Music Media at the University Of Louisiana in Lafayette. Nathan is a member of the bass section in the University’s Chorus Ensemble. Most recently, he has been accepted in the School of Music’s Jazz studio to study Jazz piano as a major Instrument. One can only imagine what would happen when Jazz meets Zydeco. The fusion would surely be a treat. Fusion, a kind of jazz music brought to life by Miles Davis, a celebrated jazz trumpeter, when he introduce Jazz to Rock.
Nathan has played on the same stages as some of Zydeco’s greatest musician such as his father, Nathan Williams, and the Zydeco Cha Chas, Rocking Dopsie, Keith Frank, Curley Taylor, Chris Ardion and many more. These Musicians possess a great talent; the ability to create, write, play, and verbally express feelings and experiences in ways that make audience shout, tap their feet, cry, laugh, dance, and fall in love with the harmonious tunes and soulful melodies of Zydeco Music. After hearing Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Tymers it will be evident to any non- believers that Nathan and his Big Tymers also possess this power and are Truly “Zydeco Ballin’.”
