| "Elvis Presley is a modeled citizen..." Elvis Presley and Hawaii go together like poi and a Luau. In Lilo and Stitch, Lilo was a true blue Elvis music fan, as well as many other Hawaiians are in present day. Elvis is a very popular music idol in Hawaii. Most natives of the Polynesian state are extremely fond of his music and that's the reason it was added to the movie. I think it added a little depth and interestt to the storyline though! It also gave us a very real look into modern-day Hawaiian culture, no? Also, more of the 'King's' songs were in this animated feature then any of Elvis's own movies. Some of the more popular songs included in the movie were 'Hound Dog', 'Devil in Disguise', and 'Heartbreak Hotel'. |
