It's been a while since I came back home Y'all know I sure didn't come alone Then I got to wonderin' if I did the right thing Seems all the bad things are all the devil can bring First we couldn't find a place to live Seems a motel room was all they could give Finally we found a place, with God's view How glad I was that I could return to you |

I'd like to get out more, but that escape just doesn't work At times I get to feeling I sure am a silly jerk First there was the Copperhead, then a Scorpion I find I must get to admittin' he wasn't very kind I've felt rather poorly, and I can't get ahead I got bit three times by a black recluse while in bed I wonder what next can happen while I'm here Just wish y'all could come visit; I'd hold ya near |

I think I'm slowly falling apart I just can't seem to find the time for a little heart My body's falling every which way, it never seems to shine I wonder what will go next, perhaps this mind of mine It never seems warm and sunny; just a lot of rain Sure causes many a folk to have a lot of pain Now I'm not complaining, it's just a part of life That's what it's like here, being Cowboy's wife |

I don't need to worry about someone stealing money from me There ain't nothing here to take, not even my memory All the little critters we have come in the house You bet we've even had our share that little gray mouse So come along with me, and live here in the country I promise you'll love it, and you can stay with me Just bring some clothes, and the things you'll need Cause if this place is heaven, it's still great, indeed |
