The objective of this website is to apply the concepts that we've learned in class to real-life problems. I have done this by making a webpage that analyizes the energy and cost efficiences of two different household uses: appliances and lighting.
1. Appliances
In the appliances section, I compared different models of refridgerators, dishwashers, water heaters, and clothes washers and looked at the initial money invested in each model, the total energy savings per year, and eventually how much money I'd save over a 10 year span. I then choose the most efficient model that would meet my required needs.
2. Lighting
In the lighting sectoin, I compared the costs of using incadescent and compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFL) in the different rooms in a house. I then chose the most cost and energy effective way of lighting the house and also kept in mind the necessary brightness (foot-candles) I needed for each room.
