SPONSOR OUR RESCUE
Lil' Tykes is a non profit no kill small dog rescue, who saves small companions from kill shelters. Some come from abusive homes, or have been neglected , or abandoned because of their health or age. We make sure that every adoptee that comes in our doors gets medical treatment and loads of love. This way they are ready for a new and loving for ever home.  Some come in injured, or with medical problems. We pay ALL bills ourselves so we have to prioritize what medical needs are first. Some come in with back injuries, eye , or other injuries. We have some rescues who are in need of knee surgry, but the cost is $400 per knee.
As you see we have a load of expenses.
Lil Tykes also Heartworm tests and treats each companion. If they are heartworm positive, we treat them over a period of time, because we believe, and have proof, that our extended treatment works with little or no side effects. Invasive treatments cause problems, and we have had a few rescues come in with heart problems because of it.   From Heartworm treatments, to spay/neuter, bad knees, to simple skin problems, we want them all healthy and happy.

Why not an older dog?
One by One, they pass by my name," Too old, too worn, too broken - no way. Way past his time, he can't run and play, He'll die too soon," they all seem to say.  A little old man, arthritic and sore, It seems that I am wanted no more. I once had a home, I once had a bed, A place that was warm, and where I was fed. My family decided I didn't belong, I got in their way or my attitude was wrong. For whatever reason they felt in their head, If it wasn't for rescue, I'd certainly be dead.  Now my muzzle is gray, and my eyes slowly fail. Who wants a dog so old and so frail? Why can't they see that I too deserve love? Our Creator is the same from heaven above. Now I sit in this place, where day after day, The younger dogs get adopted away. Give me a home, to God I pray. But they shake their heads and go on their way.  When I had almost come to the end of my rope, You saw my face, and I finally had hope. You saw thru the gray, and the legs bent with age, And felt I still had life beyond this cage. You took me home, gave me food and a bed, And shared your own pillow with my poor tired head.  We snuggle and play, and you talk to me low, You love me so dearly, you want me to know. I may have lived most of my life with another, But you outshine them with a love so much stronger. And I promise to return all the love I can give, To you, my dear person, as long as I live.  I may be with you for a week or many years, We will share many smiles, you will no doubt shed tears. And when the time comes that God deems I must leave, I know you will cry and your heart, it will grieve. And when I arrive at the Bridge, all brand new, My thoughts and my heart will still be with you. I will brag to all around me who will hear, Of the wonderful person who made my last days dear.
Thank you to all the rescue angels who are able to see age as just a number and open their hearts and homes to these special and deserving dogs.
