Grading Policy:

Each quarter has a different number of assignment, as well as different types of assignments, therefore, there are a differing number of points each quarter.

40%	In class work, which may include: · participation points · bringing the book to class · Daily writing · the Interactive Reader · drawing of the reading · Film Form – A form filled out when students watch a clip from a film · vocabulary development · a poem, story, etc. · venn diagram · time line · essay writing · group work
20%	Homework: · Grammar homework · the Interactive Reader · essay writing
20%	Tests: Selection tests Chapter tests Quarterly tests Vocabulary tests
20%	Accelerated Reader Students are responsible for two books per quarter: Tests Creative assignment (check with me before doing this)

• Each assignment will be given a number of points that the student can earn.
• The points that each student has earned will be recorded on a spread sheet.
• At the end of each grading period, these points will be added up and divided by the total number of point possible for that quarter, giving the students a percentage number for the points they have earned.
• Grades will be assigned according to the following table:

90 % = A

80 % = B

70 % = C

60 % = D

59 % and below = F

Effort and student attitude will be not be directly reflected in the grades, however, the points that students receive for the different assignments will show their attitudes and the amount of effort they put in to the assignment.
