March of each year, the Huntington Militia comes out of Winter Quarters to launch a new season of educational events, These events usually take the form of traditional muster days and tactical demonstrations. Town parades are also included in the schedule. the members of the Militia- appear in the authentic clothing and equipment of the Revolutionary War period and present a colorful pageant of the life and times of the Revolutionary soldier, in camp and in battle, complete with marching maneuvers, musket firing, martial music and full encampment, with craft demonstrations. This array is the result of an endless process of careful research and application, in an effort to show the modern public what the Revolutionary Militia was really like. Each member must provide his own clothing and equipment, but the organization provides ample guidance and assistance to him while putting together a good 18th century kit and learning, the art of "soldiering". We also belong to The Brigade of the American Revolution, a national living history organization. This enables us to participate in reenactments and have educational experiences at Revolutionary War era sites off Long Island.
