I received this email today 10-14-03  from Tim Carman used here with Tim's permission.
Eric, I just wanted to drop you a line regarding our rules committee meeting. I think you probably have the wrong impression of what actually happened. First of all, our rules meeting is about like putting together a Christmas wish list. We read through all rules that affect our division and open them up for discussion if anybody has any ideas that they would like to see change. If the discussion is legitimate and there really is some interest in changing the rule, we will take a vote on it. Most of the time, there must be a strong majority in favor of changing the rule before it is actually taken under consideration. If this majority exists, it is up to the Competition Committee to look at the proposed change and how it will impact our division. If it is clear that it will benefit our division, we will put together a proposal to present to the EWSC Board of Directors. Ultimately, the board has the right to either accept or reject our proposal based on what they feel is in the best interest of both our division and the club. Typically, there are very few rule changes in any given year even though the "wish list" at times is quite long. Also, each rule is presented one at a time and therefore is not dependent on the acceptance or rejection of a group of rules.
In summary, what you witnessed was a typical rules meeting where everybody is voicing what is on their wish list. Please keep in mind that that is all that you witnessed. Like they say, "If you're going to dream, you might as well dream big."
Thanks for listening,
Tim Carman

The Offseason Editorials by Eric Derks 10-12-03
Having gone to the EWSC Limited Rules meeting, It appears to me that some folks want to change the rules to make the cars faster and maybe more expensive.  Bert Tranny's, Aftermarket Brakes, Aluminum Axle tubes are all being considered.
But the reality of it is that, EWSC has the largest car count of Limiteds in the state and why change a good thing?
