*Guinea Pig Environment*
Guinea Pig Cages
1. Pet store cages are too small
2. Making your own is cheaper
3. Do not get cages with wire bottoms
4. Make sure there is enough room for your guinea pig(s)
www.cavycages.com has great self-build techniques.
I now have a cage made from this material and design. It works very, very well. At first I had a pet store bought cage, but this one was much bigger and cheaper. If you have questions, please email me! Before I built one of these cages, I was terribly confused.
To address these problems of a small cage....
Pet store cages are too small, how would you feel being trapped in a small room all your life?
"Floor Time" is needed:
I typically let my guinea pig run around the living room/my room for anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours a day/week. Unfortunately, she she so it's more like digging for cover instead of running.
Makes sure you monitor your guinea pig to ensure she/he doesn't eat furniture, wires, etc.
The roommust be guinea pig proof unless you are watching over them!!!
