Unyielding Wish

(*****Author's note: This is to the English dub version. Don't ask why I'm doing this fic to a Rayearth song, I've had this song stuck in my head for over two weeks, so don't grill me for it. I would like feedback on this or any other of my fics, just don't bitch at me.*****)

I walked down the main streets of the Cinq Kingdom. I was headed for a get together with my comrades, Duo told me it was a celebration, to celebrate the peace between the earth and the colonies. Can I really live in a world without war?

Hold onto the dream

I finally managed to reach my detonation, it was a local karaoke bar. Duo must have been the one who picked the place. I walked in and scanned the room.

"Heero, we're over here!" Quatre called, waving his hand

I walked over and sat next to WuFei. I looked at Quatre, "How have you been?"

"Alright I guess. I'll have to head back to L4 tomorrow night though."

I knew that he was leaving, but I didn't think he'd leave that soon. I looked at the green-eyed pilot next to the blond, "You're taking his leaving rather well."

"I'm going to L4 with him. After we're done here, we're going to elope."

WuFei spit out his drink, "You have got to be kidding! Quatre, your sisters will never except this!" he sighed, "You are the heir of the Winner Foundation, you can't have…"

"A husband. Don't worry, I called every one of my sisters and the only one that doesn't approve is Iria. As for the colony, I don't care."

I nodded and looked at the sunset from the far window.

The sunset melts into the deep blue sea
It turns a crimson shade
A wonderful free fall
I just want to have the wind take me far away

I came back to reality and looked at the Chinese boy next to me, "Where's Duo? This was his idea after all."

The lights started to dim as the spotlight was aimed at the stage. A well played upbeat tune started to play.

"This one's for you, Heero Yuy!" the person stepped out from behind the curtain and began to sing.

I buried my face in my hand after one glimpse of Duo Maxwell singing and dancing like a complete baka.

At the end of his serenade to me, he sat at the table with us and grinned at me like a mad man.

"Glad you could make it Heero. Did you hear about these two lovebirds, man I can't believe that. Although, there is some one I had my eye on…" he batted his eyelashes.

I've cleared impossible hurdles before
But I know that there's more
And I know I can make it
Who's to blame when it's not the best that I can achieve?

My chest started to hurt and it only happens when I'm near Duo, but what would he want with me, I'm nothing without war. I can't let him get close to me or it will ruin his life, "Don't even think about it…"

The longhaired boy turned his gaze to the floor, "There's someone else, isn't there?"

I couldn't tell him the truth. The only option open to me was to lie. I looked into his violet eyes, "Yes…"

"Who would that be?" WuFei asked

I sighed, "R… Relena."

"Oh Heero, I knew you loved me!!!!"

"What?!"

Relena ran over to me and swung her arms around my neck. "Oh Heero, I knew you would come to me!"

Duo stood up, "Well I guess I'll be leaving…"

"Are you okay?" Trowa asked

"Yeah, I'm just tired. I'm going to go back to the hotel and hit the sack."

The Arabian boy looked at him in concern, "But Duo…"

"Don't worry, I'll be fresh as a daisy by later tonight so I can see you two tie the knot." He walked out of the bar.

I watched the braided boy run down the street. What have I done? I know what my heart is trying to tell me, but I can't hurt you and look what I've just done. Even my existence hurts you…

Duo ran into the hotel and plopped him self onto the bed. He buried his face into his pillow. "I shouldn't be crying, boys don't cry." He wiped away the tears only to have new ones fall down his face, "Who cares any more? The war's over! I don't need strength any more. I need Heero…"

How much longer do I have to cry before tomorrow's light?
A night full of sorrow
All at once I found today I finally hit my limit
I'm sure that when you are falling in love,br> It's just like blinking your eyes
Before you know it flies away
I just want to learn how strong I can be
When I'm searching for love

I removed Relena's grip around me and stood up. She looked at me in confusion, "You're not going after him are you?!"

I nodded, "Quatre, Trowa, go to where ever you're going and Duo and I will meet you there. WuFei you go with them."

They agreed and we left the bar.

I ran towards the hotel only to see Duo walking out the front door, "Duo!"

He stopped and looked at me. His eyes looked all puffy, had he been… crying?

"What is it, Heero?"

I stopped before him, "Quatre and Trowa are ready to get married, so I came to get you."

"Where's Relena?"

"She wasn't invited, besides I didn't mean it when I…"

He glared at me, "Didn't mean what?!"

"Nothing… let's just go."

Hold onto the dream

My lips tightly sealed
But you can still see it in my eyes
I've traveled down that road
And found a greater love
This time I know it is real

We walked onto a beach where the others were waiting with a priest.

"We're ready…" Quatre said as he tighten his grip on Trowa's hand

Duo and I walked over to them and stood next to WuFei. The waves crashed onto the shore, creating a beautiful starlit wedding. I was too concerned about Duo to even notice that Quatre and Trowa had both said, "I do".

With the last piece of the ceremony, the two new newlyweds shared their first kiss as spouses.

I've cleared impossible hurdles before
But I know that there's more
And I know I can make it
But when I got up to the starting line
My legs were frozen with fear

They looked at us after they broke their kiss and walked over.

Trowa smiled, "Well, we'd love to stay and chit chat, but we have to go."

"Where are you going?" Duo questioned.

"On the honeymoon." Quatre replied as Trowa lifted him into his arms and walked toward their car.

WuFei looked at us, "Well, I'm out of here. I'm going to talk to Nataku one last time before I say good bye." He walked off.

Duo ran off before I could say anything to him so I had to follow him. I had to let him know I feel the same way about him before it's to late.

I made it back to the hotel. I asked the desk clerk if Duo had come back. She told me that he had checked out moments before I'd gotten there.

I had a feeling where I would find him. I called for a cab and went to check out the spaceport.

When I arrived I ran through crowds and crowds of people until I saw where the beautiful American sat. I walked up to him breathless, "Duo we need to talk…"

"Heero, what are you doing here?"

"I came after you. Will you listen to me please?"

He sighed, "Fine."

"I lied to you about Relena. I don't like her at all. I was just afraid to get close to you because I thought I was going to harm you, but I still ended up hurting you…"

"Yes, you did."

"Duo, I want you to stay with me. Not for the week, not for the month, not for the year. I want you to stay with me forever."

"Heero…"

I knelt down on one knee, "Duo Maxwell, I don't know when it started, but I fell in love with you. You were the only one to get me to actually show my emotion. I would love for you to keep on helping me show my emotions."

"Heero?"

I took his hand in mine, "Duo, will you marry me?"

"Y… yes."

I stood up and took him in my arms. He began to cry out of pure joy, "Heero, can we plan an actual wedding instead of what Quatre and Trowa did?"

"Sure, we'll plan it and I'll buy you an engagement ring, my beloved baka…"

We held each other for a few moments until Duo couldn't contain himself any longer and went to call Quatre and Trowa on a payphone, to tell them the good news.

I guess I can live in a world without war. As long as Duo is beside me, I'll be all right, just as long as I can continue to love and feel.
