Linda's Herbal Remedies
Christmas page
Welcome to my Christmas page.
You can make & give some nice herbal gifts without spending very much money & it doesn't take a lot of time. Most people enjoy receiving a gift that you have made yourself. So browse & see if you find anything you like!
Lavender Skin oil
2 cups lavender flowers(dried or fresh)
1/2 cup dried rosemary
11/4 cups olive and/or grapeseed oil
Place herbs in a jar (a canning jar works well) pour in the oil & shake well. Let stand for 2 weeks shaking daily.  Strain & discard the herbs. Pour into a jar & label.
Tip: You can make some really professional & personilized labels on your computer.
Bath oils
In our busy world today we usually don't take the time for a soaking soothing bath. But there is something theraputic about soaking in a  tub of oil-infused warm water.

A bath oil is super simple to make.
Try a cup of oil of your choice or a combination of olive, almond & grapeseed. Add lavender, chamomile, red clover or herbs you choose. Shake & let stand for 2 weeks, discard herbs & bottle. This is a really nice gift.
Tip:  You can find some really nice bottles & jars at some of your discount stores. However for elegence you can't beat the cobalt blue & amber glass containers. Check out Jeans Greens for a really nice selection.
Simmering Popourri
Most of us like simmering popourri but don't care for the mess. A nice solution is to use sealable tea bags. When you are finished just toss the tea bag away. You can even purchase large (4"x5")  tea bags. You can use any  aromatic herbs that you like, add either an essential oil or a fragrance oil to compliment & enhance the fragrance of your blend. A nice holiday choice is a pine scent. Other choices could include peppermint for energizing, ylang ylang to set a romantic mood & lavender for relaxation. Check out San Francisco Herbs for the suppies.
A word about oils
Fragrance & essential oils are different. Essential oils are made from the herbs themselves while fragrance oils are synthetic. Never use a fragrance oil in a skin or hair product.
Packaging
Packaging  can really transform your herbal gift into something special. Raffia or ribbon tied around the bottles, A basket filled with your herbal goodies, unusual bottles & decorative labels all will show that you put some thought into your gift(s)
This little sheep has nothing to do with herbs but he is adorable. He's a screenmate who will live & play on your desktop. He runs, sleeps, eats flowers, divebombs & makes faces. Very amusing & fun. It is actually a very tiny program. To download just click on him. Be sure to remember where you save him. I would suggest either My Documents or for easier acssess , your  Desktop. When you  want him to go away, double click on him & select the bottom box (the writing is oriental but the bottom box just means exit) Let me know if you like him.
