Creating an herbal medicine cabinet
Creating an herbal medicine cabinet assures that you will have on hand the supplies you need if an emergency arrives.
Aloe- this plant is a house plant, very easy to grow. It is one of the best treatments for sunburn, minor burns & rashes. Simply break off a leaf & squeeze out the gel onto the affected area.
Ginger Root- For nausea, motion sickness or morning sickness. Take capsules or tea as needed.

Goldenseal powder- for infections. The powder can be applied directly to the infected area or mixed in a salve. ( see making herbal salves)
cayenne - This is the best remedy I know to stop  bleeding. Just sprinkle it directly on the wound. I know it seems as though it would burn but it doesn't. I have very thin skin & bleed easily & profusely so believe me, I have used this plenty. It is also good in capsules to take in place of an anacid. It will actually help heal beginning ulcers.
Willow Bark- For any pains that you would take aspirin for. This has the same chemical properties as aspirin, but it will not damage the stomach as aspirin can.
Insect Bite Oil-This consists of 1 teaspoon lavender essential oil & 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Combine & dab on insect bites.
Comfrey- Keep  this on hand to use on sprains, strains bruises, etc. This is great to use in a poultice. Here's how:  In either a cloth bag or the larger size  heat sealed teabags( see links for source) mash comfrey leaves or roots(roots are more potent) place in bag. Place bag with herbs in boiling water. Remove from heat & allow to steep a few minutes. Apply to affected area & wrap with an elastic bandage. You might save yourself a trip to the doctor.
I will be adding much more to this medicine cabinet page(s) so be sure & check back. Click on gate at right to return to page 1.
