Manipulative, insecure Lindsay Rappaport not only slipped into Llanview, but also into the hotel room of her surprised ex-husband Sam. Lindsay had followed Sam to town, determined to learn more about the woman whose shadow she had lived in for years, the love of Sam's life, Nora Buchanan.** Although Sam had not seen Nora during his marriage to Lindsay, Lindsay knew he would never forget the woman who had broken his heart so long ago. Set on revenge, Lindsay began to connive and scheme her way into the lives of Nora and her family members.

Determined to ruin Nora, Lindsay worked to destroy Nora's marriage to Bo Buchanan.* Knowing Nora was desperate to give Bo a child, Lindsay tampered with Bo's fertility tests, changing them to show Bo couldn't father any more children. Lindsay's plan backfired, however, when Nora turned to Sam in desperation, begging him to father her child. When Nora and Sam slept together, Lindsay's already low-self esteem plunged even deeper. Her hatred for the now-pregnant Nora growing more and more by the day, Lindsay exacted her revenge at Nora's Woman of the Year celebration. Drunken Lindsay interrupted the proceedings and taunted Nora, encouraging her to tell Bo the truth. Lindsay's revenge was finally realized, as Bo painfully deducted Nora had slept with Sam. Lindsay's machinations, however, were far from over!

Although Lindsay had been busy with her son Will and her quickie marriage and divorce to and from Clint Buchanan, Lindsay once again found herself meddling in Nora's life after the birth of Nora's baby Matthew. When Nora learned Bo's fertility tests had been tampered with, she ordered a DNA test for Matthew, much to Lindsay's chagrin. Lindsay, who had recently gotten involved with a rebounding Bo, was desperate to hold onto him, and would stop at nothing to make sure she did. Believing Bo would leave her if the DNA tests proved Matthew was his child, Lindsay bribed lab technician Jeff Barnes to ensure Sam was named as Matthew's father. Lindsay, however, had a last minute change of heart after Bo's pregnant niece Jessica was the victim of a hit and run accident. Although she frantically left message after message on Barnes' machine, he was nowhere to be found, leaving Matthew's paternity up in the air. Even after the tests named Sam as Matthew's father, Lindsay couldn't be sure if Sam actually was the father or if Barnes had tampered with the results.
