It's time you have your voice heard! ABC is inviting fans--first at theis month's Super Soap Weekend, then via 0n-air promos-to request original scenes they want to see produced and aired on AMC, GH, and OLTL. Recalling the genesis of this Fan February concept, ABC Daytime President Brian Scott Frons says, "When I came to ABC, someone published my e-mail address and I started to get fan mail-and a lot of them had great ideas. They'd say, "Why didn't we get to see Todd and Blair's wedding night?' 'What if Bo and Nora had a kiss under the mistletoe?' I thought to myself, 'How can we get these ideas on air?' " so, each Wednesday in February 2003, ABC's soaps will air stand-alone episodes of made-to-order fare- the only limitation being budget ("If somebody says, 'Why not restage the Titanic using (OLTL'S) Cristian and Natalie?' obviously we can't do that," says Frons) and a degreee of input from each show's creative teams. In fact, an off-screen face could even make it into the mix. "If Todd and Tea fans want to see a certain scene and Florencia Lozano is willing to come back for it, why not show that back-to-back (with a Todd/Blair scene) and let the audience see the chemistry of bothe actresses? Frons then tosses out an even more provocative thought: "Here's the fun part: Maybe the fans will make us network and producer and writer folks think twice about what we're doing and reconsider a different way to do." |
