Murder, They Wrote - Who Killed Colin On OLTL? | |||||
Soap Opera Weekly | |||||
July 17, 2001 | |||||
- On Tuesday, July 17, Colin's murderer comes forward on OLTL. We promise. Until then, there's a killer loose in Llanview - and you won't believe who it is.. Here are the prime suspects. Sift through the clues, and see if you can uncover the culprit. Lindsay Rappaport - "I didn't do it." Cries Catherine Hickland in character. "I have two kids. I don't want to end up in the pokey for the rest of my life." But Lindsay definitely had ample motive to want Colin gone. "He was making advances at my daughter that were making me insane. He was getting very rough with me. No one would find out. And if they did, who would care?" Executive Producer Gary Tomlin on Lindsay's possible guilt: "Lindsay is capable of a lot of things, but murder isn't one of them. She's smart enough to weigh in her head what it would cost her. But Colin knew about her involvement in Nora's kidnapping last summer. No to mention the threat to her daughter." This week: The wall close in on Lindsay as Will and Jen pressure her to confess what she knows. Sam Rappaport - "I'm guilty. I did it. He deserved to die," Laurence Lau (Sam) "confesses" with a laugh. "We know that Sam carried the body out of the house. Sam's fingerprints were on the document. Were on the murder weapon. The fact that this guy threatened his daughter...no question he could have put him away . "On the other hand," Lau hedges, "there were other people who had equally strong motives, and just as ample opportunity. Lindsay showed up as Sam discovered the body. How did she know when to be there?" Tomlin on Sam's possible guilt: "If you talk about motives, he hated Colin, and if he found out that Colin did to Nora that night, that would be enough." This week - A jailed Sam knows exactly what will free him. Jen Rappaport - Could sweet, meek Jen really have waltzed into town and offed her creepy uncle? "Colin betrayed her and her whole family by sleeping with their mother," Jessica Morris (Jen) says. "But she couldn't do it, because it's not in her nature." Tomlin on Jen's possible guilt: "We saw how Colin behaved with Jen the last time she saw him. He practically mauled her. Given the way this man was dealing with her family, it's certainly a possibility that it would motivate her to do it. But she's sweet. It's hard to believe she would resort to murder." This week - Jen fears Cristian has abandoned her. Roseanne Delgado - Erika Page is leaving the show, so her character is the obvious choice. Too Obvious? "Antonio was coming close to figuring out she was R.J.'s mole," Page explains. "She knew she was in deep trouble. She had to find a way to get Colin out of the picture." In her character's defense, Page says Roseanne "has a good heart. She would get close to doing something like that, but she would [stop]. It's a little too over the edge.". Tomlin on Roseanne's possible guilt: "Roseanne looks pretty guilty. She has resorted to some drastic measures to get what she wants. If Colin was standing in the way .... It's hard to gauge how far Roseanne would go for Antonio. Murder is awfully far." This week - Senora Lena urges Roseanne to tell the truth about the night Colin died. Will Rappaport - "The only thing that could have drawn him to do it was to honor his family," admits Jason-Shane Scott (Will). "If someone messes with him mom or sister, Will would be more likely to snap. Will's a good guy. If he did it , it would be in self-defense." Tomlin on Will's possible guilt: "Will had the motive, but he's an upstanding guy. I can't imagine him murdering someone. He did have a lot of reasons to do it. Maybe in the heat of the moment ...." This week - Will's relationship with Jessica reaches the breaking point, adding to the upheaval in his life. Nora Buchanan - On the night of his death, Colin had kidnapped and drugged Nora for the second time, and planned to rape her. "If she didn't do it, it was because she was unconscious upstairs," offers Hillary B. Smith (Nora) "If she did it, it would have been in self-defense. She's a heroine; they're always victims, and they don't take matters into their hands." Tomlin on Nora's possible guilt: "Nora certainly had reason that night. It's a possibility. But Nora's rational. She's not going to do anything in the heat of the moment." This week - Nora remembers the key moments of the night Colin died. Melanie MacIver - "Lanie loved Colin," points out Darlene Vogel (Lanie). "They were married." But that didn't stop her from taking a fireplace poker to his skull. Lanie thought she had killed Colin. Maybe she did really it. "She left without checking his pulse," adds Vogel. On the other hand, "She was upset about helping her father die. She's not a killer. She's a good person. Tomlin on Melanie's possible guilt: "You don't know what people might do being afraid. And she hit him. But it's hard to believe she would let someone else take the rap ... although she did cover up what happened to her father for a very long time." This week - Lanie reveals an important fact about the person she saw driving up to Colin's house. Bo Buchanan - Police Commissioner Bo `- a killer? "He's shot people before," notes Robert S. Woods (Bo). "But he had an alibi for the night of Colin's murder". The people Bo is closest to would have justifiable homicide as a defense. R.J. and Lindsay were seen together." Tomlin on Bo's possible guilt: "I couldn't come up with a reason why Bo would be a suspect. What Colin did to Nora, maybe." This week - Bo returns to Colin' house with Nora, hoping to help her remember what really happened that night. The last word: Tomlin promises that when the killer finally does confess July 17, "like Agatha Christie, it will all make sense. You may have been given things that led you in a different direction, but when you go back and think about them, none of them were false." And just because the killer is being revealed, that doesn't mean the storyline is over. Tomlin teases, "The reveal will be the beginning . In a weird way." |
