Walkthrough

This is the walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. This section covers every part of the game that is necessary in order to complete it. Again, note that I used the name "Link" as opposed to anything else you might call your character, and again, this section will contain spoilers, so read at your own risk. If you notice any errors, let me know. One last thing - time travel at your own discretion.

(Cinema Scene)
In the land of Hyrule, there echoes a legend. A legend held dear by the Royal Family that tells of a boy... A boy who after battling evil and saving Hyrule, crept away from the land that made him a legend... Done with the battles he once waged across time, he embarked on a journey. A secret and personal journey... A journey in search of a beloved an invaluable friend... A friend with whom he parted ways when he finally fulfilled his heroic destiny and took his place among legends...
(Cuts to Link riding Epona in a forest.)
Two fairies are watching him. They fly away and reappear in front of Epona. They scare her, and Link is tossed off. They fly near Skull Kid.
Skull Kid: Hee, hee. You two fairies did great! I wonder if he has anything good on himn... Huh? This guy... ...Well, that shouldn't be a problem.
(He walks over to Link and flips him over. He takes his ocarina.
Tael: Ooh, ooh! What a pretty ocarina... Hey, Skull Kid, lemme touch it! I wanna see!
Tatl: You can't, Tael! What would we do if you dropped it and broke it? No way! You can't touch it!!!
Tael: ...Aw, but sis... W... Why can't I try it out too?
(Link wakes up and sees Skull Kid playing his ocarina. Skull Kid turns around and sees Link. Link tries to catch him, but he jumps on Epona and takes off. Link grabs onto Epona's hind leg, but is thrown off.
From here, walk through the tree trunk and up the platforms.
(Cinema Scene)
Link runs to a dead end. He loses his balance and falls off. A bunch of colored masks and ocarinas appear. Link lands on a Deku Flower and sees Skull Kid floating.
Skull Kid: What's with that stupic horse of yours?! It doesn't listen to a word that's said to it... There's no point in riding a thing like that, so I did you a favor and got rid of it... Hee, hee...
(Link opens his eyes wide, stunned)
Skull Kid: Aww, boo-hoo. Why the sad face? I just thought I'd have a little fun with you... Oh, come now... Do you really think you can beat me as I am now? Fool!
Skull Kid shakes his head and Link appears in a black room. A bunch of Deku Scrubs surround him, but he runs away. he is then chased by a giant Deku Scrub. He appears back on the Deku Flower as a Deku Scrub. Skull Kid laughs.
Skull Kid: Hee, hee! Now that's a good look for you! You'll stay here looking that way forever!
He flies through a passage and Deku Link chases after him. Tatl stays behind and hits him in the head a few times. She realizes the door is closing, but doesn't make it in time.
Tatl: Woah! Woah! Skull Kid, wait for me! I'm still here!!! Tael, you can't leave without me!
She hits the door a few times, then turns around and flies over to Deku Link.
Tatl: You! If I wasn't dealing with you, I wouldn't have gotten separated from my brother! Well, don't just sit there, Deku Boy! Do something!!! ... Why are you looking at me like that? What, is there something stuck on my face? Will you stop staring and just open that door for me?!? Please!!! C'mon, a helpless, little girl is asking you... So hurry up! Ohhhh, Tael... I wonder if that child will be alright on his own?
Walk over to the door an open it. Run down the hallway.
Tatl: Hey, wait for me! Don't leave me behind! So, um... That stuff back there... I... um... apologize, so... So take me with you! You wanna know about that Skull Kid who just ran off, right? Well, I just so happen to have an idea of where he might be going. Take me with you and I'll help you out. Deal? Please? Good! So then it's settled! Now then, I'll be your partner... or at least until we catch that Skull Kid... My name's Tatl. So, uh, it's nice to meet you or whatever. Now that we've got that all straightened out, can we stop messing around and get moving? If I figure something out, press and I'll tell it to you. Hopefully, you'll manage to get by without my help until then!
Deku Link shakes his head.
Use the Deku Flower to get across to the door. Open it and do the same thing in this room. When you get to the end, a sad tree will talk to you.
Sad Tree: Hey, you! C'mon! Press Z and talk to me!
Walk down the passage.
(Cinema Scene)
Deku Link walks down a twisted hallway. He enters the next room and the door closes behind him.
Follow the path up to the door.
Happy Mask Salesman: You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?
Tatl hides behind Deku Link.
Happy Mask Salesman: I own the Happy Mask Shop. I travel far and wide in search of masks... During my travels, a very important mask was stolen from me by an imp in the woods. So here I am at a loss... And now I've found you. Now don't think me rude, but I have been following you... ...For I know of a way to return you to your former self. If you can get back the precious item that was stolen from you, I will return you to normal. In exchange... All I ask is that you get back my precious mask that the imp stole from me. What? It is not a simple task? Why, to someone like you it should by no means be a difficult task. Except... The one thing is... I'm a very busy fellow... And I must leave this place in three days. How grateful I would be if you could bring it back to me before my time here is up... But yes... You'll be fine. I see you are young and have tremendous courage. I'm sure you'll find it right away. Well then, I am counting on you...
Walk out the door. The words "Dawn of the First Day - 72 hours remain -" appear.
Tatl: He gives me the creeps! That mask salesman was the... Sorry... just thinking aloud. But three days? Even if we never sleep that still leaves us with a measly 72 hours! Talk about demanding! Well, don't just stand there! We're going to see the Great Fairy! Look, you wanna find the Skull Kid, don't you? The Great Fairy will know what he's up to. She watches over everything - And just between you and me, the Skull Kid is no match for the Great Fairy. Go to the shrine near the North Gate. You'll find the Great Fairy in there!
Go straight forward and to the left up the stairs. In the Laundry Pool, skip across the water to get a fairy.
Fairy: Please, hear my plea! The masked Skull Kid has broken me apart and scattered my pieces! Please find a way to return me to the Great Fairy in North Clock Town.
If you wait until night, the fairy will appear in East Clock Town. As the fairy said, go to North Clock Town. Run to the left of the exit to enter the Fairy's Fountain. Keep going straight.
Tatl: Oh no! The Great Fairy!
Go forward some more.
(Cinema Scene)
The fairy circles around Deku Link, then joins the other fairies. They gather in the center of the fountain, and the Great Fairy of Magic appears.
Great Fairy of Magic: Tatl, and you, young one of the altered shape... Thank you for returning my broken and shattered body to normal. A am the Great Fairy of Magic. I thought the masked child was helping me, and I grew careless. All I can offer you now is this: I shall grant you Magic Power as a sign of my gratitude. Please accept it!
A brownish light appears around Deku Link. He opens his arms and recieves magic.
Great Fairy of Magic: The man who lives in the observatory outside of town might know of the Skull Kid's whereabouts. But be careful! You must not underestimate that child's powers, kind young one. If you ever are returned to your former shape, come see me. I shall give you more help.
She disappears in a yellow flash. Go outside and shoot the ballon with a picture of Majora's Mask on it. Talk to Jim, the kid standing outside.
Jim: Are you the one who just popped that up there? Not bad for a Deku Scrub! The Bombers have a hideout that leads to the observatory outside town. You need a code to get in. Maybe I'll tell you what it is! But don't think you're getting it that easily! I can't just tell you what the code is... You'll have to pass my test first. Are you ready?
Yes All right! Line up, guys!
No I thought you were tougher than that... But you're nothing special. (Talk to him again) What? Don't you want me to teach you the secret code? But don't think...
After choosing "Yes", the five Bombers line up.
Jim: If you can find all five of us by tomorrow morning, I'll teach you the code. Are you ready?
Four of them jump, then the last one jumps and falls over.
Now you have to find all five of them. The first one is around a tree next to you. When you catch him, he will talk to you.
Bomber: Aw! You caught me... Now there are only 4 left.
To find Jim, look behind the slide.
Jim: Aw! You caught me! Now there are only 3 left!
Next, go to East Clock Town. Go up the stairs to see a Bomber with a cucco. He'll fly down where you have to chase him.
Bomber: Aw! You caught me! Now there are only 2 left!
Go to the Deku Flower next to the Treasure Chest Shop, and fly onto the roof of the Stock Pot Inn. Here is yet another Bomber.
Bomber: Aw! You caught me! Now there's only 1 left!
Now go to West Clock Town where you'll find a Bomber near the exit.
Bomber: Aw! No way! You finally got me!
You appear back in North Clock Town with all five Bombers.
Jim: You're pretty good for a Deku Scrub! If only you were human... Then I could give you an original Bombers' Notebook and make you a member... What do you guys think?
Bombers: No way! No scrubs!
Jim: I guess not... Once, we let some kid who wasn't human join our gang, and boy, did we ever regret it! Sorry! But I'll teach you the code, just like I promised! I can tell you only once, though, so pay close attention! Are you ready? The code is #####! The entrance to our hideout is in East Clock Town!
The code is always random, so don't forget it. Go to East Clock Town and talk to the Bomber blocking the path.
Bomber: If you want to pass through here, you have to say the secret code! What's the code? (Enter Code)
(If you get it wrong) Wrong! Jim said I can't let anyone who doesn't know the code in. If you're not a member, they won't teach you the secret code! If you wanna be a member, go see Jim in North Clock Town!
(If you get it right) Umm... That's right. If you know the code, then you're a member, right? OK, here we go!
(He walks to the side)
Bomber: There's a lot of cool stuff at that telescope guy's place! Oh yeah... and, um... The Bombers Secret Society of Justice Forever!
Walk down the path. It's pretty straight-forward form here on - jump across the water and keep following the path. Watch out for the Skulltula that drops in front of the first doorway. Pop the ballon, go up the ladder, and all the way to the top of the observatory. Talk to the astronomer.
Astronomer: Well, well... A strange-looking child has joined me today... Are you a new friend of the Bombers gang? ...Hmmm. Your manners seem much better than those your your mischievous friend from the other day. Hrnf, hrnf, hrnf! That ill-mannered troublemaker from the other day said he'd break my instruments... He said he'd steal my Moon's Tear... There was no stopping him. Even now! Just watch him! He's probably causing trouble around the clock tower. Will you gaze through the telescope?
Yes
No Well, why not? You must take an interest in new things while you are still young!
After choosing "Yes", look on top of the clock tower and zoom in.
(Cinema Scene)
The Skull Kid looks up at the moon. A ball of fire appears in the moon's eye and falls outside the observatory. The Skull Kid does a little dance and jumps out of view.
At this point, quit looking through the telescope.
Astronomer: Well, did you find that troublemaker? And that loud noise... What was that? Perhaps another Moon's Tear has fallen nearby... Go through that door and take a look outside. But I wonder how that trouble maker got on top of the clock tower. The only way up there is through the clock door, and that only opens on the eve of the carnival.
Go outside and pick up the Moon's Tear. Take it to the Deku Scrub in North Clock Town.
Deku Scrub: Wait! Wait! Hang on!
(Cinema Scene)
The Deku Scrub flies over to the Deku Flower carrying two bags.
Deku Scrub: This is my private property. Don't try using it when I'm not around!
Talk to him.
Deku Scrub: I've already sold out of my wares and the carnival hasn't even begun. I'm thinking of closing up shop so I can buy a gift for my wife and return to her in my village! I've heard of a stone called the Moon's Tear shines brighter than any other in the land! If you've got one, I'd really like to get it from you. My wife would love it! If you give it to me, I'll give you my spot here... Deku Flower included!
Give him the Moon's Tear.
Deku Scrub: Ah! That stone! You must hand it over to me! In exchange, I'll give you my spot here... Deku Flower included! Yes?
(You get a Land Title Deed)
Deku Scrub: You really helped me out! Now I have the perfect souvenir for my wife! She hasn't set eyes on a jewel or strange, sparkling stone like this in a very long time. The Title Deed for this spot should be in high demand among Deku scrubs, but you already know that. If you don't need it anymore, you can always sell it!
(Cinema Scene)
He goes in the Deku Flower, gets his bags, and flies away.
Dive into the Deku Flower and fly to the clock tower. Land on the wooden platform with a sun on it.
Tatl: The door to the clock tower opens only once a year -- at midnight on the eve of the carnival.
Wait until twelve midnight on the third day.
(Cinema Scene)
The carnival arrives and fireworks go off. The door leading to the top of the clock tower opens and stairs form.
Walk up the stairs.
Tatl: Don't stop now! Look! You can get up there now!
(Cinema Scene)
Deku Link looks around and sees Skull Kid flying high above the clock tower, tossing and catching his ocarina.
Skull Kid: .........
Tael: Sis!!!
Tatl: Ah! Tael! We've been looking for you two. Hey, Skull Kid, what if you gave that mask you're wearing back now? Hey, c'mon, are you listening?
Tael: Swamp. Mountain. Ocean. Canyon. Hurry... The four who are there... bring them here...
Skull Kid hits Tael.
Tatl: Nooo!! What are you doing to my brother? Skull Kid, do you still think you're our friend after that?!!?
Skull Kid: Well, whatever. Even if they were to come now, they wouldn't be able to handle me... Hee, hee. Just look above you... If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Skull Kid stretches his arms and legs out. Some sort of energy appears around him.
Hit him with a bubble.
(Cinema Scene)
He drops the ocarina.
Pick it up.
(Cinema Scene)
Deku Link holds up the ocarina and has a flashback of leaving Hyrule.
Princess Zelda: You are leaving this land of Hyrule, aren't you? Even through it was only a short time, I feel like I've known you forever. I'll never forget the days we spent together in Hyrule... And I believe in my heart that a day will come when I shall meet you again... Until that day comes, please... Take this...
(She holds out the ocarina)
Princess Zelda: I am praying... I am praying that your journey be a safe one. If something should happen to you, remember this song...
She teaches you the Song of Time. Link walks away on the back of Epona.
Princess Zelda: The Goddess of Time is protecting you. If you play the Song of Time she will aid you...
Tatl: Snap out of it! What are you doing lost in memories?!? Get yourself together! Getting that old ocarina back isn't gonna help us!!! Somebody! Anybody!!! Goddess of Time, help us please! We need more time!
Pull out the Deku Pipes.
Tatl: Huh? When did you get that instrument?!?
Play the Song of Time and travel back in time.
(Cinema Scene)
Deku Link falls back through time. All the things that happened in the last three days are quickly flashed, and he re-appears in front of the clock tower.
Tatl: W-What just happened?! Everything has... ...started over...
Link runs and looks up at the moon.
Tatl: Wha... What are you, anyway? That song you played... That instrument... ...That instrument!!! Wait! That's it! Your instrument!!! The mask salesman said that if you got back the precious thing that was stolen from you, he could return you to normal! Did you completely forger or what?
Walk through the door at the base of the clock tower and talk to the Happy Mask Salesman.
Happy Mask Salesman: Were you able to recover your precious item from that imp?
(He begins shaking you)
Happy Mask Salesman: Oh! Oh! Ohhh!!! You got it! You got it! You got it! You got it!!!
(He appears at his organ)
Happy Mask Salesman: Then listen to me. Please play this song that I am about to perform, and remember it well...
You will learn the Song of Healing.
(Cinema Scene)
Link waves goodbye to the giant Deku Scrub that was chasing him. The Deku Mask falls off, and Link is returned to normal. He looks at himself.
Happy Mask Salesman: This is a melody that heals evil magic and troubled spirits, turning them into masks. I am sure it will be of assistance to you in the future. Ah, yes, I give you this mask in commemoration of this day. Fear not, for the magic has been sealed inside the mask. When you want to wear it, you will transform into the shape you just were. When you remove it, you will return to normal.
Link holds up the Deku Mask.
Happy Mask Salesman: Now, I have fulfilled my promise to you... So, please, give me that which you promised me... Don't tell me... My mask... You did... get it back... Didn't you?
(He gets angry and starts shaking Link)
Happy Mask Salesman: What have you done to me!!! If you leave my mask out there, something terrible will happen!
(Cinema Scene)
Majora's Mask is in a black room.
Happy Mask Salesman: The mask that was stolen from me... It is called Majora's Mask. It is an accursed item from legend that is said to have been used by an ancient tribe in its hexing rituals.
(Cuts to Skull Kid summoning energy on top of the clock tower with the moon behind him.)
Happy Mask Salesman: It is said that an evil and wicked power is bestowed upon the one who wears that mask. According to legend... the troubles caused by Majora's Mask were so great...
(Cuts to a black screen. A fire englufs the screen, and Majora's Mask appears behind the fire.)
Happy Mask Salesman: The ancient ones, fearing such catasrophe, sealed the mask in shadow forever, preventing it's misuse. But now, that tribe from the legend has vanished, so no one really knows the true nature of the mask's power...
(Cuts back to inside the clock tower.)
Happy Mask Salesman: ...But I feel it. I went to great lengths to get that legendary mask. When I finally had it... I could sense the doom of a dark omen brewing. It was that unwelcome feeling that makes your hair stand on end. And now... that imp has it... I am begging you! You must get that mask back quickly or something terrible will happen! I'm begging you! I'm begging you! You must do it! Really? You'll do it for me? I was certain you would tell me that. You'll be fine! Surely, you can do it. Believe in your strengths... Believe...
Run out of the clock tower.
Tatl: That mask... The Skull Kid uses the power of that mask to do those terrible things. Well... whatever it takes, we've gotta do something about it. ...The swamp, mountains, ocean and canyon that Tael was trying to tell us about... I bet he was referring to the four areas just outside town. There's one in each compass direction. But what do you suppose he meant by "the four who are there?" I have no idea. He always skips important stuff. I guess we should just go and find out... If we go through that gate straight ahead, we'll be heading in the direction of the swamp.
Talk to the guard guarding the southern exit.
Guard: Stop right there! Have you some errand in the swamp? It is dangerous outside the town walls, so I cannot allow a child like you to... ...A sword? My apologies, sir. It was wrong of me to treat you like a child. The southern swamp at Woodfall lies in this direction. Be careful.
Exit to find yourself in Termina Field. Keep going south until you are almost at the swamp.
(Cinema Scene)
Tatl flies over to a tree with a drawing of Skull Kid and two fairies on it. Link runs after her.
Tatl: Oh! I remember this! Tael and I drew this with the Skull Kid when we first me him... He told us that he had bee fighting with his friends and that they had left him all alone...
(Cuts to a rainy day with Tatl and Tael flying around. They find Skull Kid all alone and cold, and go over to him. They become friends and play around in Termina Field. Skull Kid draws the picture on the tree and the screen goes black.)
Tatl: I'm sure it was because he was always playing tricks, so nobody wanted to play with him. But to do what he did just because of that...
(Cuts to the Happy Mask Salesman lying on the ground while the Skull Kid looks through his bag and finds Majora's Mask.)
Tatl: And once he got his power...
Keep going south until you reach the swamp. When you get there, swim to the Magic Hags' Potion Shop. Wait until at least the second day.
(Cinema Scene)
Kotake flies out of the potion shop and into the Woods of Mystery. Follow her. When you enter the Woods of Mystery, talk to the monkey.
Monkey: Mmm... Follow me!
Follow the monkey. At the end of the road, you will find Koume lying on the ground in between two monkeys.
Koume: Oh! Owow-ow! Help meeee!
Run to her and talk to her. The two monkeys will run away.
Koume: I was just busy minding my own business, picking mushrooms, when... BAM! I got hit from behind! That pesky Skull Kid! Did he think an old hag wouldn't recognize him if he hid his face? Oh, ow! To think he's that powerful... and now I can't even move! You! Don't you have anything that gives you energy? Ah! What is this?! You're no help... I say, you're not at all what you make yourself out to be!
Exit and run through the maze again.
Monkey: Mmm... Follow me!
Follow him, but this time, talk to Kotake when you see her.
Kotake: Tee-hee-hee! ...Hmm... Did you need me for something? What's that?!? The Skull Kid got to Koume?!? That's ridiculous... If it's just the Skull Kid, then what harm could he possibly do? Oh!! Well, if that's true, then take this potion to her... This isn't good...
You will get a red potion.
(Cinema Scene)
Kotake flies up into the trees and disappears.
When you find Koume, talk to her again.
Koume: Ow-ow-yeow! Don't you feel obligated to help a sorry old hag when you see one?
(Give her the potion)
Koume: Ah! That color! That smell... That's definately Kotake's...
(Cinema Scene)
She grabs the bottle from Link and drinks the potion.
Koume: Ooh! Feel the energy flow! Koume is revived!!!
(A puff of smoke appears. When it clears, she is on a broom.)
Koume: You saved me! I'm the swamp tour guide. I run the boat cruise, so come by if you want a free ride.
(Cinema Scene)
She takes off on her broom.
When you exit the Woods of Mystery, three monkeys jump in front of you. Talk to one of them.
Monkey: You have strange powers, no? Me been watching you! Lately, this swamp filled with poison water. Temple above waterfall strange... Brother go to temple. But brother no able to find temple entrance. Temple for Deku only. Brother captured by Deku. Now in palace. Help!
They run off. Go back the the building you saw when you first entered the swamp and talk to Koume.
Koume: Oh! Thanks for what you did back there! In a special deal just for you, I'll let you take this cruise for free. Ah, yes, we've got a special going on right now, so we're giving this out for free!
You will get a Pictograph Box.
Koume: If you take a nice picture from the boat, take it to that fella over there. All right... The boat's leaving!
You will appear on a boat going down the swamp. It will take out a Big Octo along the way. At one point a message will come up on the screen that says "Now arriving at Deku Palace. The swampwater is poisonous here, so please watch your step. Are you disembarking?"
Yes The boat will stop.
No The boat continues on.
After choosing "Yes", walk through the doorway. Turn into Deku Link and talk to one of the Deku guards.
Deku Guard: This is the palace of the Deku kingdom. Only those on official business may enter! ...But you may enter to see the public humiliation of the foolish monkey who angered our king. Follow this hall straight to the Royal Chamber. Do not enter any other area whatsoever!
Instead of going straight, go right. Sneak around the guards, and at the end, fall into the grotto. Turn left and talk to the Bean Salesman.
Bean Salesman: Well... chomp, chomp... You're the first customer I've had in a looooong time! Do you need any Magic Beans? They sproud leaves as soon as you water them. That they do, they do. Mmm. I'll give you one free sample, so try planting it in some soft soil. You can always buy more.
You will get a Magic Bean.
Bean Salesman: You can plant 'em whenever you want, but if you don't water 'em, their leaves won't grow.
Go to the small pond in the grotto, and put some spring water in a bottle. Exit the grotto and go just outside the palace. Hop along the lilypads to the east side of the palace and plant a bean. If it's not raining outside, use the spring water to make it grow. Jump on the bean sprout and enter the palace. Using the Deku Flowers, jump from platform to platform. Beware, as frequently Deku Scrubs will have to be defeated before you can use the next flower. Eventually, you'll reach a platform that will take you into the Deku King's Chamber. Jump down and pull out the Deku Pipes in front of the monkey.
Monkey: Oh! You have them! You do! Just like the princess... Deku Pipes! Those will work great!!! By the way... who are you?
(Deku Link will fall down and alarm the king.)
Monkey: ...Whoa! That's not important now... Just listen to me! I was trying to find out about the poison swamp, so I went to Woodfall Temple above the waterfall. But the temple had become a monster's lair, and the princess was captured by the monster... Since the Deku king thinks I kidnapped the princess, he won't listen to a word I say. Now the princess is in trouble, so I must somehow hurry to the temple and save her! Do you understand my plight?
Yes (Deku Link nods) So then, that means... You will go in my place and save the princess! (Deku Link nods again)
No (Deku Link shakes his head) Then I will tell you and tell you until it is clear to you! I was trying...
(After choosing "Yes")
Monkey: OK, now I'll teach you the melody that opens the temple. The princess taught it to me! We can't let them hear us, so I'll sing it softly...
You will learn the Sonata of Awakening.
(Cinema Scene)
As Deku Link plays the Sonata of Awakening, the king and his guards dance.
Deku King: Everyone, did you hear that? This melody, which only the Deku Royal Family knows... It prooves the foolish monkey decieved the princess so he could enter the temple! Everyone! Let the monkey's punishment commence!
The guards throw you out.
Monkey: You'd better take the shortcut the Deku people use to get to Woodfall Temple. But you must hurry! If you don't, I will be punished by the Deku king!
You appear outside the palace. Go east again, only this time, jump to the ledge and use the Deku Flower to fly into the opening. Use the Deku Flowers to get across the swamp. Eventually, you will get to a ledge with Kaepora Gaebora on it.
Kaepora Gaebora: Ho-ho-ho-ho-hoot! This is a rare sight. You are a fairy child, correct? What business might you have in this poisonous swamp? If you dare not venture further, I shall pass no judgement. It is better that you hurry back to town. This swamp you are in has lost its guardian diety. But it was destined to fade anyway. Hoo-hoot... And that destiny is not solely limited to this swamp... If you have the courage and determination to proceed in the face of destiny, the I shall teach you something useful. Before coming here, had you not seen any of the stone statues that bear close resemblance to me? I have placed those throughout the land to aid one with the power to change the destiny of this land... Wherever he may appear. If you have left proof of our encounter on any of those stone statues... Then the song carved at my feet will certainly be of some assistance... Remember it well and play it wherever the need arises. From the first time you play this song, we shall become eternal friends, transcending time and place!
He will fly away. Use the Deku Flower to get across to the next ledge and enter Woodfall. Go counter-clockwise until you reach the Deku altar.
Tatl: Isn't this the Deku Scrub mark? I wonder if they worshipped here...
As Deku Link, play the Sonata of Awakening.
(Cinema Scene)
Woodfall Temple rises out of the water.
Use the Deku Flower to reach the entrance.
Woodfall Temple
Simply jump from Deku Flower to Deku Flower in this room until you reach the door. Enter the next room.
Tatl: Ugh! That stench! This place stinks just like that poison swamp!
Jump down and go through the door on the left. In the next room, jump to the Deku Flower. Use it to reach the treasure chest, inside which you'll find a key. Go back to the opposite side of the previous room and unlock the door. Walk up to the block.
Tatl: This looks pretty light. Well, don't just stand there--Press A to grab it and use control stick to move it!
Push the block forward and follow the path right, all the way to the other side of the block. Push the block towards the door so that the path is clear. As Link, go to the torch and use a Deku Stick to burn down the cobweb blocking the path to the second floor. When you get to the second floor, Tatl will talk to you.
Tatl: Be careful... I sense a lot of evil here.
Light all the torches in the room at the end of the hallway and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. In the next room, again, use the Deku Flowers to reach the doorway on the other side. Go down the stairs. walk along the ledge and enter the next room. Walk through the door, and in the next room, defeat the Lizalfos. A treasure chest will appear. Make sure to grab the Hero's Bow inside. Walk back through the door and shoot the eye on the opposite side of the room. The platform in the middle will begin to go up and down. Use it to reach the door at the top of the room. In the next room you have to fight a Gekko. Keep hitting it until it calls a Snapper to help it. Turn into Deku Link and dive into one of the Deku Flowers. Wait until the Snapper is right above the Deku Flower and jump out. The Gekko will be knocked off. Hit it with an arrow. Repeat this a few times.
(Cinema Scene)
The Snapper disappears and the Gekko turns into a frog.
Go through the once-blocked door and open the treasure chest to find the Boss Key. Go back to the room with the big central platform . Line up a shot so that the burning flame is right in between the burned out torch and your arrow. The best place to stand for this is at the back edge of the switch. When you have a shot, take it.
(Cinema Scene)
The platform folds in, then back out. When it touches the water, it turns clear. The platform rises and starts spinning.
Jump onto the platform and shoot an arrow through the burning torch to light the burned out torch in the far left corner of the room. When the torch is lit, the iron bars blocking the door next to it will be lifed. In the next room, hit the crystal switch to put out the fires on the two platforms. Using the Deku Flowers, fly to the locked door at the other end of the room. Open it. Walk forward a little bit.
(Cinema Scene)
A drum starts beating and a huge creature jumps down from a hole in the ceiling. He swings his sword a few times and the words "Masked Jungle Warrior Odolwa" appear.
Boss Fight: Odolwa
Whatever you do, don't get near this guy while he's swinging his sword. Wait until Odolwa is standing still and then hit him with an arrow. He will usually block or jump out of the way, so as quickly as possible, hit him right when he lands, or when he lets his guard down. He will be temporarily stunned. Use this opportunity to hack away at him. You can defeat him in one shot if you stun him and time perfectly a series of jump attacks. In he summons insects during the fight, quickly defeat them and concentrate on the bigger threat.
(Cinema Scene)
Odolwa falls to the ground and burns up in a blue flame. A blue light appears.
Walk into the light.
(Cinema Scene)
Link holds up Odolwa's Remains. They float up and turn into a yellow ball of light. Link appears in a pale green room on a platform.
Tatl: What's that?
A strange-looking god appears in front of Link and starts singing.
Tatl: Wait... Listen... It seems to be saying something... Could that crying be its way of teaching us some sort of melody? Don't just stand there... Get your instrument...
(Link pulls out his instrument. He is then taught the Oath to Order. The god starts making strange noises.)
Tatl: "Call us."... That's what it's saying.
(Cuts to outside Woodfall. The water turns from poisonous to pure. A new path rises out of the water. Cuts back to Link inside Woodfall Temple.
Tatl: The four people Tael talked about... Do you think he was talking about the spirit that was sealed inside that mask? ...Oh! Hey, you were pretty good out there! Have you done this before or what? Now, just keep up the pace and save the other three! Hey! Um... All that stuff I did to you... ...your horse... I... I apologize... Sorry. There! I apologized! So don't hold it against me, got it? Now then, we've helped the princess just like the monkey asked... So now our next stop is the mountains! Let's hurry and do something about that Skull Kid!
Link hears a noise and turns around.
From here, head to West Clock Town, and buy a Bomb Bag. Now go north towards the mountains. Blocking your path will be two blocks of ice. Using the bow, shoot the icicle above them twice. It will fall and clear the path. The next time your path will be blocked, it will be by giant snowballs. Use a bomb to clear them away. When you reach the Mountain Village, look for a path behind the cabin and keep following it until you reach Goron Village. Talk to the Goron standing out in the cold.
Gatekeeper: It's cold... Being the gatekeeper in this cold is h-h-hard. Do you want to enter the Goron Shrine?
Yes Then I'll open the door with a Goron Pound. I'm going to close it right away so it doesn't get cold inside, so hurry up and get in. Are you ready?
No Are you sure? It's a little bit warmer inside. Ohhh, I want to go in, too.
(Cinema Scene)
After choosing "Yes", he does a Goron Pound and the door opens.
Gatekeeper: The door's already open. I'm going to close it right away, so hurry up!
Quickly jump down to the right and enter the Goron Shrine. Walk up as high as you can and follow the red carpet to talk to the Goron baby.
Goron Baby: Waaah... Henh, uwaaaaah... Daaaaaddy, daaaddy... H-hunh... I'm cooold, Daaaddy!
Run outside, turn left, then right following the path up. Eventually, you'll come across Kaepora Gaebora.
Kaepora Gaebora: Hoo-Hoot! We meet again, fairy child! Have my stone statues been of help? Well, it seems you may have the strength to change the fate of this land as I had expected. But the road ahead is even more challenging. Many trials await you. Please watch over these Gorons around you. Their land is doomed to be smothered in snow and ice forever. It will become a land where no living thing can survive. Without courage and determination, you surely will collapse from the extreme conditions... But if that courage and determination burns bright within you, then that's another story... So, will you proceed?
Yes Hoo-Hoot! You are a child of many strengths! Well, perhaps you do have enough strength to change the fate of this mountain after all. I shall take to the air now, flying toward that shrine across the way, so follow behind me. Do not be daunted by appearances. Instead, let your feelings guide you, and the true path shall open before you. Are you ready? Follow behind me!
No I shall pass no judgement. If that is your decision, then return to town. After retreat, courage returns. (Talk to him again) What is it that you are doing? Beyond here you will fall into oblivion unless you have great courage and determination. So, will you proceed?
(Cinema Scene)
After choosing "Yes", he gets off his perch and flies toward a cave.
Jump off into what seems like nothingness, and you'll land on an invisible block of ice. The trick to this part is to watch where his feathers land, as they guide you to the cave. When you reach the entrance, he will talk to you again.
Kaepora Gaebora: Hoo-Hoot! I have certainly been assured of your courage and determination. From here on, you must not be fooled by appearances. You must rely on your feelings... Now, enter the shrine. Something that will aid you in your quest lies within. Use that item when returning from here.
Enter the cave and open the treasure chest. You will get the Lens of Truth. Go back out and use it to get back to the village. In front of the window, you will see Darmani. Talk to him.
Darmani: .........Can it be? Are you able to see me? If you truly can see me, then follow behind me...
(Cinema Scene)
He begins to fly away.
Follow him. Before the entrance to each area, and after the entrance to a different area, use the Lens of Truth and look at him. Eventually, he will fly up the edge of a cliff. To get to the top, go up, right, up, left, up, right, up. Follow him into the Goron Graveyard. In front of the middle gravestone, play the Song of Healing.
(Cinema Scene)
Darmani sways back and forth, and the screen gets blurry. The screen turns white, and cuts to Darmani behind cheered on by countless Gorons. He raises his arms, and it cuts back to the graveyard. The Goron Mask appears and falls to the floor.
Darmani: I leave my undying feelings with you... The deeds I accomplished while living are carved on my grave. You should read it.
Link holds up the Goron Mask.
Darmani: For the Goron Village... I have asked your assistance...
Turn into Darmani, go behind the gravestone and pull it. The room will be flooded with hot spring water. Put some in a bottle, and as quickly as possible, return to the area of the mountain just before Goron Village. Go to the lower part where all the snow boulders are. Look for one that Tatl will fly over and turn green, and punch it. The boulder is different depending on what day it is. Using the hot spring water, melt the ice and talk to the Goron Elder as Darmani.
Goron Elder: Hunh? What was I doing? Ah! It's already this late?!? I must hurry!
Talk to him again.
Goron Elder: Hunh??? Oh! You're Darmani!!! But you're supposed to be dead! Am I hallucinating? Maybe this is the doing of Snowhead's magic power... Hmmph... I've been made a fool of! But... that's impossible. I refuse to flinch. If I can see past the illusion, you'll vanish in an instant! ...What? My son is crying because he misses me?? Why do you know what? My son misses me... Ulp! Forgive me, my child! Your father has work to do! Darmani... Be you a ghost or a figment of my imagination, I no longer care. If you feel pity for my crying son... then please quietly sing my son to sleep with this song I am about to play on my drum. It is the very same melody that was often played for you when you were young...
(He pulls out a drun. He plays the first three notes.)
Goron Elder: Huh? ...Let me play it once more.
(He plays the first three notes.)
Goron Elder: Umm...
(He plays the first three notes.)
Goron Elder: It's no good! I can remember only the beginning!
(He plays the first three notes twice. You will learn the Lullaby Intro.)
Goron Elder: It's not that I forgot it. It's just so cold that I can't play it very well... ...At any rate, I am counting on you.
Go to Goron Village, and do the Goron Pound where the gatekeeper is. Enter the shrine, and go to the Goron baby. Play the Lullaby Intro. The Goron baby will stop crying.
Goron Baby: That song... That's the song my daddy always plays for me before I go to sleep... I'll sing the next part.
He sings the whole sone. You will learn the Goron Lullaby.
(Cinema Scene)
In a white room, the sceen switches between Darmani and the elder playing while the Goron baby sings. The elder holds the Goron baby. Then it cuts back to the Goron Shrine.
Goron Baby: Mmmmm... It's just like... daddy's... right... beside me... Zzzzz...
He falls asleep. Goron Link looks around and sees everyone else asleep.
Go back to the Mountain Village. This time, cross the little bridge and follow the path. Roll so that there are spikes coming out of you, and jump over the wooden ramp. Don't stop rolling or slow down until you reach Snowhead. As long as there are spikes coming out of you, you'll plow right through the boulders. When you enter Snowhead, play the Goron Lullaby as Darmani.
(Cinema Scene)
The giant Goron causing the wind falls asleep. He falls forward, then rolls off the cliff.
Roll past where the giant Goron was, and go up the path to find the entrance to Snowhead Temple.
Snowhead Temple
Walk forward and smash the stalagmites. Tatl will talk to you.
Tatl: Hmm... This is kind of big... It's gonna take more than average strength to move this thing!
As Darmani, grab the block and push it forward. Go through the right door. Roll across the bridge, and go through the door on the left.
(Cinema Scene)
Various shots show just how massive Snowhead Temple is.
From here, look for a door with a yellow frame around it, and go through it. Pull the block to the left out to get a key from the treasure chest. Go back to the first room and unlock the door. Bomb the wall at the other end of the room to reveal a hidden staircase. Go up the stairs. In this room, shoot the icicles hanging on the ceiling to clear the path. Jump up to where the huge boulder is, and blow it up. Inside the treasure chest is another key. Unlock the door and Goron Pound the yellow switch.
(Cinema Scene)
The switches in front of the door, and in between the two ledges go up.
Jump across to the other side using the newly-raised yellow switch. Goron Pound the green switch.
(Cinema Scene)
The other green switch goes up.
Quickly Goron Pound the yellow switch that you used to get across.
(Cinema Scene)
The first switch goes up and the switch in front of the door lowers.
As Link, climb up the green switch and run through the door. As Darmani, jump across to the other side, and roll to the door. Jump across again. Go through the door.
(Cinema Scene)
Wizrobe appears out of a blue square on the floor. He spins around and disappears into it.
To defeat Wizrobe, wait for it to appear out of a square. Don't approach it too quickly, or it will disappear. When you can Z-Target it, strike. After a few hits, Wizrobe will appear out of a square, fly to all the squares, and disappear. Now, you will have to act quickly as four Wizrobes appear. Only the real one can hurt you. It will be the one that stays on it's square. After you defeat it, the bars blocking the door will be lifted, and a treasure chest will appear. You don't want to miss it, because inside is the Fire Arrow. Go back to the main room, and unfreeze any green door. In the next room, light all the torches using Fire Arrows. The iron bars blocking the center door will be lifted. Go through it, and Goron Pound the switch.
(Cinema Scene)
A huge platform in the middle rises up to the top floor. The switch beneath you is raised.
Go back to the room with the broken bridge. Climb up the stairs. In the next room, stand on the platform, and shoot the frozen eye with a Fire Arrow.
(Cinema Scene)
The platform is raised.
Go through the door. Punch the two huge blue blocks of ice in the middle platform. Then, shoot the ice blocking the passage with a Fire Arrow, and go up the stairs. Roll across to the door, and punch the next two blocks. Rolll back across to the stairs, and walk across the platform. Punch your way through the boulders, and walk up the stairs. Jump across to the other side, and turn into Deku Link. Use the Deku Flower to fly down to the two doors on the left. You can only enter one door. Go through it.
(Cinema Scene)
Wizrobe appears out of a blue square, spins, then disappears.
You have to fight Wizrobe again. Use the same strategy, but watch out, because this time there are seven squares. When he's defeated, the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted, and the other door will be blocked by iron bars. On the other side of the door is a treasure chest with a Boss Key inside. Walk through the next door, and jump down the the platform. Make your way back up to the top floor, jump across, and use the Boss Key on the door.
(Cinema Scene)
Link looks around and sees a huge creature frozen in a block of ice.
Use the Fire Arrow to melt the creature.
(Cinema Scene)
The ice melts. The creature starts running around wildly. It breaks through some rocks, and the words "Masked Mechanical Monster Goht" appear on the screen.
Boss Fight: Goht
As Darmani, start rolling after Goht. Collect magic from the green jars as you roll. When spikes come out of you, roll into Gohs as many times as you can. If you go over a ramp and land on it's back, you will knock it down, and can get a few easy hits on it. If it shoots lightning at you, keep rolling from side to side, and bounce off the walls. Avoid the rocks that it kicks at you. Eventually, it will become an obstacle course, as Goht will throw rocks, lightning, and bombs in your path. Keep avoiding and hitting. After a while, you'll have won.
(Cinema Scene)
Goht runs into a wall and is buried by rocks.
Walk into the blue light.
(Cinema Scene)
Link holds up Goht's Remains. They fly up and disappear in a yellow ball. Link appears in a pale white room on a platform.
(Cinema Scene)
Tatl: W-What exactly are all of you?
A god stands in front of Link and makes strange noises.
Tatl: "Guardians." Guardians? So... You're protective gods? That's why you're in the temples... But... why are the protective gods...? No, wait! Are you listening to me? Hey!
Scene cuts to outside the graveyard. A Goron freezes, but all the snow melts and he is quickly unfrozen. The springtime has arrived in the mountains. Link appears in front of a frog by a river.
Return to Goron Village and enter the cave on the northwest side as Link. Talk to the Goron as Darmani.
Goron: I'm the Goron who sells the Powder Keg, the most famous product of the Gorons. Want a Powder Keg? Powder kegs explode with powerful blasts and are very dangerous... Until I have tested you to see if you can use them properly, I can't let you use any on your own. Will you give it a try?
Yes If you can destroy the boulder that blocks the entrance to the Goron Racetrack near here... using the Powder Keg I'm about to give you, then I'll approve you to carry them.
No Come back if you change your mind.
After choosing "Yes", the Goron pounds the ground and a Powder Keg appears.
Goron: When the Powder Keg begins ticking faster, it means that it's about to explode. Try to blow up the boulder blocking the Goron Racetrack entrance without the Powder Keg exploding on the way. There's a sign near the racetrack, so keep an eye out for it. When you're finished, come see me.
Pick up the Powder Keg. Throw it up the ramp and roll up. Keep doing this until you're outside. Don't drop or throw it, as it wastes time. As quickly as possible, get the the part of the mountain with all the bridges. Get it up the ramps on the other side, and place it near the grey boulder. Let it explode.
Goron Baby: You did it! Thanks a lot! I'm going right in. I'll be waiting for you, so you have to come see it!
He runs inside.
Go back to the Powder Keg-selling Goron and talk to him.
Goron: It looks like you managed to succeed! Knowing your skills, I feel fine letting you handle Powder Kegs on your own. It was bad of me to put you through suck a dangerous test. I want to you take this as my apology.
You get a Powder Keg.
Goron: Powder Kegs are very volatile, so you can carry only one at a time. If you shoot them with an arrow they'll explode as soon as they're hit, so be careful.
Go back in time to first day. As Darmani, talk to the Goron at the Bomb Shop in West Clock Town, and buy a Powder Keg. Go to Milk Road next to the swamp, and place the Powder Keg next to the boulder. The guy chipping away at it will run away. The road is now clear to enter Romani Ranch. Once inside, head straight and a bit to the right.
(Cinema Scene)
Tatl: L-Look!!
(She flies over and looks at a horse behind a gate)
Tatl: Isn't that your horse?!?
Link runs over to the horse.
At this point, look for Romani and talk to her as Link.
Romani: How, who are you? I'm Romani. I was given the same name as the ranch. What's your name?
Link Link? That's a nice name, but...
I won't say my name Hmm... Well, all right then. How about Grasshopper? That's the name Romani gives you. See, you're wearing green clothes, and you patter about when you walk, so Grasshopper it is! Romani was practicing... For tonight... Tonight... They are coming...
(Cinema Scene)
The scene cuts to a light in the night sky.
Romani: They... They come at night... every year when the carnival approaches...
(Zooms in on the light. The light moves from side to side, and then engulfs the screen. Purple creatures with glowing eyes appear.)
Romani: They come riding in a bright, shining ball. A whole lot of them come down...
(Cuts to a cow. A light appears around the cow and it disappears.)
Romani: And then... They come to the barn...
(Cuts back to Romani Ranch)
Romani: My older sister won't believe me... But Romani must protect the cows! Hey, Grasshopper, I'm recruiting for an assistant right now! You're a boy, won't you try?
Yes Great! Now that's the spirit, Grasshopper! OK then, I'm going straight into my strategy! They'll appear all over the ranch... They'll aim for that barn and approach it slowly, so hit them with arrows so they can't get in! You got that? And you mustn't leave the ranch! Grasshopper! Let's practice right away! There are 10 ghost-shaped balloons in the ranch, so hurry and burst them all. If you take over 2 minutes, you're out. The current record is 01'00"00. Are you ready?
No Oh... I see... My strategy begins tonight at two. I'll be waiting by the barn... I'll be waiting by the barn.
After choosing "Yes", Link appears on Epona. Here, you can run around the ranch and shoot the balloons if you want to. It's really up to you.
Romani: (If you do) OK! You're done!
(If you get under 01'00"00) Your time! Amazing! It's a new record!
(If you get over 01'00"00) Your time! That's great! You two work perfectly together! I'll teach Romani's horse-calling song to you, Grasshopper. Now you two keep getting along, and go practice some more!
(You will learn Epona's Song.)
Romani: When your arrow hits these, they burst into nothing, but the real ones keep popping up! If they get in the barn, we lose! They run away at first light of the sun, so we'll have to keep fending them off until then! Did you get that?
Yes The operation starts tonight at two. I'll be waiting in the barn. Don't be late!
No When your arrow hits these...
Romani: (If you don't) OK! Time's up! Well, that's how it goes at first, Grasshopper.
They run away at the first light of the sun, so we'll have to keep fending them off until then. Did you get that?
Yes The operation starts tonight at two. I'll be waiting in the barn. Don't be late!
No When your arrow hits these...
Go out to Termina Field and play Epona's Song. Get on Epona, and use her to jump over the gate on the western side of the field. You are now in the Great Bay Coast. Gou out into the ocean to where you see seagulls flying.
Mikau: Unghhh... Somebody... Unghh... Please... G-gu-hu... Get me... ...to shore...
Grab him and push him to shore.
(Cinema Scene)
He gets up and walks onto the beach. After a few steps, he collapses.
Run over to him and play the Song of Healing.
(Cinema Scene)
The camera zooms in on his face. He appears floating in a black room. Lulu floats beneath him. The screen shifts so they are standing, and a spotlight appears around each of them. Spotlights begin to appear around the rest of the band. Lulu takes Mikau's hand, and they walk away.
(Cuts back to the Great Bay Coast.)
Mikau's body disappears, but his face remains.
Link picks it up. You now have the Zora Mask.
Mikau's spirit appears.
Mikau: Carve my farewell song on my grave... I'm depending on you to help that singer girl...
(He starts playing guitar. The screen turns black. Link appears looking at the grave that he has made for Mikau.)
Turn into Mikau and jump in the water. Swim north, just past the four pillars that stick out of the water. Underwater, you will find four sections of the rock wall boarded up. Swim into the one second from the left, and go through the passage.
Pirates' Fortress
You are now in the Pirates' Fortress, where stealth and timing play a huge roll in your success. Stand at the edge of the ledge, and wait for a pirate to go by. When her back is facing you, dive underwater. Swim to the north side, and walk onto dry land, just after a pirate passes by. Walk up to the switch, and as Darmani, pound it. A passage underwater will open. Swim back to the opposite side of the fortress to find it. Once inside, swim forward and through the board. Pull the block back. Keep swimming along the path until you find another block. Push it forward. When you see the current flowing upwards, go with it. Move towards the door, but avoid the mines and the current going to the side. In the next room, climb as high as you can, and hit the crystal switch behind the row of barrels. Get through the gate before it closes. Again, avoid the mines and the current in your path. Climb up the ladder and step on the switch. Stand on the drain, and hit the crystal switch. Get off at the next floor, and climb up the next ladder. Hit the crystal switch, and the bars blocking the door will be lifted. Go through the door, around the fortress, up the ramp, and through the passage. Now you have to run around while not being seen by pirates. You can use the hookshot or an arrow to temporarily stun them, but you'll have to be quick. You will also need to take a pictograph of a pirate. Run to the huge tower in the middle and climb up the ladder. Run across the bridge, and go through the door. Run forward a bit more.
(Cinema Scene)
A bee flies by Link, through the iron bars, and into a beehive. Beneath, there is some activity going on.
Aveil: I've been waiting for you! And, did you find the rest of the eggs?
Pirate: ...N-No. B-But... that's beca...
Aveil: What are you trying to pull here?!? If people hear the great pirates have lost the treasure they stole, we'll become the laughing stock!
Pirate: Yes, b-but Aveil... The sea is strangely murky where we were attacked by the sea snakes...
Aveil: Silence! That's why the Zoras can't send for any help! Now that the eggs are gone, the Zoras should be frantically searching for them. If we don't hurry, the Zoras will get to them before we do! There are four eggs here now. Hurry! Go find the other three eggs before those sea snakes eat them!
Pirate: ...Understood...
She starts walking away.
Aveil: Wait!!! The Zora eggs are the only clue we have about that dragon cloud floating over the bay... If what that strange, masked one says is true... And if we can get our hands on the treasure that lies in the temple in that dragon cloud... Then we can spend the rest of our lives living the good life! So get a move on and go find them! Now!!!
Pirate: (Salutes) Understood!!!
Take out an arrow and shoot the beehive.
(Cinema Scene)
The beehive crashes to the floor. The pirates run away screaming as bees chase them.
Go back outside and jump off the side of the ledge. Go through the door. Open the treasure chest to find the hookshot. Use it to hit the piece of wood above the aquarium. As Mikau, put the egg in a bottle. Go back outside, and walk down the stairs. Jump off the ledge and go to the next target. Aim for the one just above it. Go through the passage nearest the target. You have have to hide behind barrels to avoid being caught by the pirate. In the next room, walk forward.
Pirate: Halt! It takes courage to come thieving in the Pirates' Fortress! I'm going to love doing this to you!
She pulls out two swords.
To defeat the pirate, always keep her Z-Targeted, keep your shield up, and attack when she lets her guard down. After a few hits, she'll leave.
Pirate: Ugh. Don't think it ends here!
She throws something at the ground. In a blinding flash, she disappears. The iron bars blocking the door are lifted.
Go through the door. Obtain the egg using the same method as before. Walk outside. Run to the target nearest the entrance. Use the hookshot to pull yourself to it, and then pull yourself towards the one on the ledge above you. Go through the passage. Run passed the pirate and into the next room. Walk forward.
Pirate: Halt! It takes courage to come thieving in the Pirates' Fortress! I'm going to love doing this to you!
She pulls out two swords.
Hit her a few times.
Pirate: Ugh. Don't think it ends here!
She throws something at the ground. In a blinding flash, she disappears. The iron bars blocking the door are lifted.
In the next room, get the egg and go outside. Go back to the target near the entrance, and get to the target in front of the passage that leads to the egg you just got. This time, turn around and hit the third target. Walk down the path, and through the door. Here, use the pieces of wood on the ceiling and the hookshot to get to the door on the other side of the room. Walk forward.
Pirate: That's as far as you go! How unfortunate. You won't be getting past here!
She pulls out two swords.
Defeat her.
Pirate: Ugh! Not bad... But don't think it ends here!
She throws something at the ground. In a blinding flash, she disappears. The iron bars blocking the door are lifted.
In the next room, get the egg in the aquarium. You can now leave the Pirates' Fortress.
Drop the eggs off in the Marine Research Laboratory near the shore of Great Bay. Drop them into the aquarium by standing on top of it, and using the bottle containing the egg. Now go to the Fisherman's Hut on the beach, and Z-Target the seahorse. Talk to the fisherman.
Seahorse: Help me... Please, take me to the waters near Pinnacle Rock...
Fisherman: Are you interested in that fish? It's a rare fish, isn't it? It's called a sea horse. I caught it swimming around here. Just off Pinnacle Rock. Since it's rare, I was thinking of selling it at the town carnival, which should be starting soon. If you want, I'll give it to you. On one condition... Do you have a pictograph of the female pirates?
(If you do) (Give him the pictograph) Oh! That's it! That's it! I had a picture like that. Well, aren't you the crafty one? You'll give that to me, won't you? In exchange, I'll give you this!
(You get the seahorse)
(If you don't) What's this? I guess you don't have one after all. Technically, I do have a pictograph of a female pirate, but it's all blurry and it's not that great... The all-important face... I can't see it very well! Any good picture of a pirate will do -- even a snapshot of a guard. Can you help me out?
(After you've shown him the pictograph)
Seahorse: Thank you! Hurry! Take me back to the waters near Pinnacle Rock...
Take the seahorse to the two huge pillars sticking out of the water (they can be seen from the beach). Swim between them, and dive down to the bottom. Release the seahorse
Seahorse: You have strange powers, Link. I have a request for you. Follow me.
Follow the seahorse. At the end of the path, it will talk to you.
Seahorse: Here in the depths of Pinnacle Rock live many dangerous snakes. My friend is trapped there. Link, can you please find a way to rid the area of all the sea snakes and help my friend?
Swim down into Pinnacle Rock. In each tunnel, there is a huge sea snake. Defeat it by using your shield or fins. Once it is defeated, search the tunnel for a missing egg. When you've found all these, return to the laboratory, and drop them in the tank.
Professor: Good. All of the eggs have been brought together. ...It's going to start. Quick! Come to the front of the aquarium!
Walk in front of the aquarium.
(Cinema Scene)
The eggs hatch. The baby Zora arange themselves in a pattern.
Professor: L-Look at this! What does this mean... What in the world could it mean? ...I've got it! Don't you understand? The way these Zora children have lines up... It means...
Pull out your guitar. You will learn the New Wave Bossa Nova.
Professor: That! Yes, it's that instrument! Hmm... If these Zoras were born to teach this song, then hurry! You must play this song for the Zora who laid these eggs!
Go back to the beach and through the tunnel at the side. Swim out into the bay to the giant structure. The entrance is in front, but underwater. Once inside, follow the path to the first passage you see. Turn left to exit. As Mikau, stand in front of Lulu and play the New Wave Bossa Nova.
(Cinema Scene)
Lulu sings the New Wave Bossa Nova. The island behind Link starts moving. A giant turtle emerges from the water.
Turtle: Mm... Mm... Yeeeaaawn! I slept quite well. I just realized this when I opened my eyes. The passing of days is quite quick. Isn't it, Lulu? Yes, Lulu. It's nothing to be surprised at. Although my eyes were closed in sleep, I still see everything that occurs in this ocean... ...Hmm. It seems Lulu is confused. Regrettably, there is no time for idle conversation. Now then, proud Zora warrior... The open seas of Great Bay have need of your might. Quickly. Climb onto my back.
(He turns around)
Use the hookshot to hit a tree on his back.
(Cinema Scene)
The turtle starts moving towards the Great Bay Temple. The pirates are also going there. They get swept up and blown away in a giant swirling wind surrounding it. The turtle enters safely with Link on his back. Link waves at the turtle and runs towards the door.
Great Bay Temple
Walk through the door.
Tatl: Whoa! That's a huge waterwheel!
As Mikau, dive underwater to the right of the yellow platform (to another yellow underwater one). Greab the switch and move it. A fountain now shoots out water. Go back to the door and jump on the right platform. Use the water to get across the gap and go into the next room.
Tatl: Hmm... I get it... That huge waterwheel is powering this thing...
Dive underwater. Enter the passage with a red and a green pipe going into it. Turn right and go through the next passage. Surface and go through the door. Jump underwater and open the treasure chest. Then jump into one of the two squares of water by the door to be swept back to the main room. This time, dive down to the very bottom and through the passage with just one red pipe going into it. Surface and walk along the top of the red pipe to reach the next room. Walk right through to the next room. Look up at the ceiling.
(Cinema Scene)
A giant eye drops. A ton of bubbles then drop, bounce around, and surround the eye.
Sub-Boss Fight: Wart
Start clearing the bubbles away from Wart until you can hit his eye. Whenever you get a clear shot, aim for the eye. After you've done this a few times, all the bubbles will drop and bounce around the room. Get rid of them, and concentrate on the bigger threat. Wart will now dash around the room randomly, so watch where you walk. You have to wait until the eye is open to be able to hit it. After you've finished it off, a treasure chest will appear and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted.
Open the treasure chest to get the Ice Arrow. Go back to the room filled with water and get on one of the ledges in the opposite corners of the room. Freeze an Octorok using the Ice Arrow. Climb on top of it and jump onto the middle platform. Move the switch and dive back underwater. Dive in between the two Octoroks and look straight ahead for a passage. Follow it and surface. Use the Ice Arrow to freeze the waterfall, and enter the room behind it. Shoot the water with the Ice Arrow in different places to make a path to the switch. Move it and leave the room. Dive back underwater and go through the top passage. This time, when you get to the next room, use the Ice Arrow to reach the high door. In the next room, freeze the Blue Chuchu, and push it to the platform. Climb on top of it, then onto the platform. Move the switch and leave the room. Dive underwater, go through the passage, and then surface. Go through the door. Use the Ice Arrow to reach the door blocked by ice. Use the Fire Arrow to melt the ice blocking the door. Walk into the next room.
(Cinema Scene)
A gekko dances and makes noises. Bubbles fall from the ceiling.
Sub-Boss Fight: Gekko
While avoiding the bubbles, hit the Gekko. Once you've hit it, it and all the bubbles will jump up to the ceiling. Get away from the shadow on the floor, and hit the giant mass with an Ice Arrow. If your timing is right, it will fall to the floor and crash into separate bubbles again. Repeat this process a few times to win. It will turn into a frog, the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted, and the entrance will be sealed.
Go through the door and open the treasure chest to get the Boss Key. Jump through the hole in the gate and into the water near the door. Surface and go back to the first room. Use the hookshot to hit the target on the ceiling near the red platform. Jump onto the platform and move the switch. Water will now come out of the red fountain. Jump to the yellow platform and move that switch. There will now be no water coming from the yellow fountain. Go back to the main room and dive underwater. The direction of the current will be changed. Swim through the passage into which a red and green pipe go. At the end of the passage, surface, and jump onto the ledge going up and down. Jump onto the spinning waterwheel, and onto the next ledge. Climb onto the side and freeze the waterfall. Use the waterwheel to get across to the door and into the next room. Jump onto the seesaw in the left corner of the room. Unfreeze the waterfall with a Fire Arrow to make it rise. Jump onto the next one and do the same thing. Then jump onto the green ledge and move the switch. Get onto the seesaw in front of the entrance and unfreeze the waterfall. Jump onto the ledge and go into the next room. Dive underwater and go straight through the passage. Now dive down into the passage with a single green pipe going into it. Walk up the green pipe to reach the switch. Move it and the fountain will shoot water. Use it to get across to the big locked door. Unlock it and jump down the hole.
(Cinema Scene)
The view is of a fish's underwater. It looks at the platform, swims around, and looks at it again. It jumps over the platform and the words "Gargantuan Masked Fish Gyrog" appear.
Boss Fight: Gyrog
To defeat Gyrog, you'll first have to locate it underwater. After you've done that, hit the fish with an arrow or as Mikau using his fins. It will be temporarily stunned. As Mikau, dive underwater and use the shield to hurt him. Get onto the platform as fast as you can or you'll be eaten. Repeat this a few times. When Gyrog is almost defeated, it'll spit baby fish out of its mouth. Hit him a few more times and you'll have won.
(Cinema Scene)
Gyrog gets beached on the platform and shrinks.
Walk into the blue light.
(Cinema Scene)
Link holds up Gyrog's Remains. They fly up and disappear in a yellow ball of light. Link appears in a pale blue room on a platform.
Tatl: Hey, listen. We want you to lend us your power! If you just leave things as they are, something terrible will happen to this world! Surely, you're the ones who can stop it! That's what Tael was trying to tell us! "Help our friend." I get it. We have to help the last one! Then promise us this... You'll cooperate with us...
Link is transported outside in front of the turtle.
Turtle: Now I can continue resting in peace. I too must abide the laws of ancient times and again merely watch from my deep slumber. But the evil that haunts this land has not completely vanished, Link. I shall depart after enjoying Lulu's voice a bit longer. I think the gods can permit that. Hyeh, hyeh, hyeh.
Go back to Termina Field and summon Epona. Collect 10 rupees. Now head off to Gormon Track, just off Milk Road. While seated on Epona, talk to the brother wearing blue clothes.
Older Brother: Is that pathetic thing your horse? I would've guessed that little thing was a mule fer sure, ain't that right, little brother?
Younger Brother: Do ya think a horse like that pathetic would gallop if you pushed control stick forward? Or would it run faster if you pressed A?
Older Brother: This guy's funny! Why don't you give us 10 Rupees for the chance to race against us?
Younger Brother: If you win, we'll give you somethin' nice, kid. What'll you do?
Race Older Brother: It's a simple race. Just go once around the track. If you can beat us to the finish line, you win.
Younger Brother: Hyuh, hyuh. You ready?
Don't race Younger Brother: Then don't come to a place like this on your horse!
After choosing "Race", you will appear on Epona on a race track in between the two brothers, who are also seated on horses. When the clock counts down to "Go!", the race starts. To win, simply be ahead of the brothers when you cross the finish line.
(If they win) Older Brother: Hyuh, hyuh! We win!!! If you like, we'll let you race us again.
Younger Brother: What'll you do?...
(If you win) Older Brother: I can't believe we lost!
Younger Brother: Big bro, I wonder if we can give that to this guy?
Older Brother: We gotta give him something. Well, he's a kid, so what could he do with it? It should be fine...
You will get Garo's Mask.
Older Brother: In exchange, you can't tell anyone where you got this!
Now head east, towards Ikana Canyon. You need to be on Epona to enter. When you reach a sign in front of a cliff edge, turn left. You are now in Ikana Graveyard. Follow the path until you reach a big sleeping skeleton. Stand in front of it, and play the Sonata of Awakening.
(Cinema Scene)
The skeleton wakes up and destroys the bridge above it. It walks away from Link.
Chase the skeleton, and when you get the chance, hit it. You can hit it with an arrow to stun it, but the first real blow must be delivered by a sword. After you've done this, the skeleton will begin chasing you until you are within swiping distance, after which it will swing at you. Dodge it's attack, and keep hitting it. After a few hits, it will begin to jump, and attempt to land on you. Other than this, it does nothing different, so keep doing the same thing while moving out of the way of the shadow. When you beat it, it will talk to you.
Skull Keeta: Wait! It is my loss! Sheathe your weapon...
(You appear on the edge of the broken bridge with Keeta standing on the ground.)
Skull Keeta: I commanded the Ikana Army of Ikana Kingdom atop the hill. I am called Skull Keeta. Since being shamed by loss in a battle within my kingdom... I have waited here for one to come and awaken my soul. Young swordsman who has awakened and deftly defeated me... I shall rely on your power to fulfill my request. I ask you to take my soul, which rests in the fiercly burning flame... And convey my words to my men, who, even in death, remain loyal to me.
(The camera pans down towards the treasure chest.)
Skull Keeta: Tell them the war has ended... Then I shall be able to drift quietly into sleep... Captain, sir!
It turns around and salutes.
Skull Keeta: May I take leave, sir?
Link salutes back at him.
Skull Keeta: Yes, sir!
It jumps into the ground and disappears. The flame surrounding the treasure chest goes down.
Use the hookshot to reach the treasure chest and open it. You will recieve the Captain's Hat. On the night of the First Day, put on the Captain's Hat. Look around the graves for three Stalchildren, and talk to one of them.
Stalchild: Huh? Aah! Captain, sir!!! Excuse me, sir! Everyone, give the captain your attention! We haven't seen you in some time, captain, sir! As per your orders, sir, we've been guarding these graves closely. We have all been expecting your next order, sir. What will we do?
Guard the grave Yes, sir! We'll continue with this strategy, sir! Yes, sir!
Open the grave O-open it? Yes, sir! Everyone! Follow me!
(Cinema Scene)
The Stalchildren hit the grave until a secret passage is revealed. They jump inside.
After they've opened the grave, go inside. Jump across the platforms. You will enter a room filled with Keese. Light all the torches, and the bars blocking the door will be lifted. Enter the next room. Hit the statue in the middle of the room. It will come to life. Avoid it's attacks as best you can, and keep hitting it until it's defeated. It will burn up in a blue flame.
(Cinema Scene)
The iron bars blocking the door are lifted, as is the curtain, revealing a grave.
Flat: Are you the one who freed my soul?
(A ghost appears.)
Flat: I served the Ikana Royal family. I am the composer called Flat. The songs connected to the Royal Family that remain here were all composed by my brother and I. Oh... Sharp. my dear brother. He sold his sould to the devil and was the one who locked my in here... You who do not fear the dead, learn well the song that is inscribed behind me... And if you ever meet my brother, I'd like you to inform him... The thousand years of raindrops summoned by my song are my tears. The thunder that strikes the earth is my anger! ...I have made my request.
He disappears. Walk towards the grave and Z-Target it. One the grave is written: "The thousand years of raindrops summoned by my song are my tears. The thunder that strikes the earth is my anger! Here is written the song that shall cleanse his cursed, black soul."
You will learn the Song of Storms. Go back to the entrance, and step into the light to leave the grave. Wearing Garo's Mask, go back to the edge of the cliff behind the sign. The Garo sitting on top will talk to you.
Garo: Yee-hee-hee. That's a nice mask you're wearing. That is the mask of the leader of ninjas who once spied on the hilltop castle with the blood-stained history. With that, you may be able to call out other spirits that even now are still wandering. Perhaps you may be able to save the souls that wander beyond here... Yee-hee-hee.
A tree sprouts beside the Garo, and it disappears. Grab the tree with your hookshot. Cautiously make your way to the other end of the path. You are now in Ikana Canyon. Keep going straight, and freeze the Octoroks using Ice Arrows. Use the frozen Octoroks to reach the ledge. Now aim for the tree above the left side of the ledge with the hookshot. Turn left again, and hit the next tree. Now turn completely around and hit the tree. Keep going straight until you reach a cave entrance. Go inside. Walk forward a bit.
Sharp: What business have you in Ikana Kingdom, land where only the dead roam?
A ghost appears.
Sharp: This is no place for one as full of life as you. Or do you say that you with to join the dead? That is fine... If that is the case, then sleep gently to the melody of darkness that the great composer, Sharp, shall play... and join the ranks of the dead.
It starts playing a song. The longer you listen to the song, the more health you'll lose. Play the Song of Storms.
Sharp: W-What is this? ...This song? ...N-No, it can't be. This song...
(Cinema Scene)
The screen starts to blur as it spins. It changes from a shade of purple to a shade of green. Sharp disappears. The middle fills with water, forms a river, turns the wheel on the house, and starts a song. All the Gibdos around the house weaken and sink into the earth as the song plays. The door to the house unlocks. Sharp reappears.
Sharp: Flat, my dear brother. Forgive your foolish brother who dreamt of the revival of the Royal Family... ... Ye who do not fear the dead... With my brother's song, you have broken the curse that was placed upon me. It is all thanks to you. We dead should not be lingering here in this land. It was all a trick of the masked one who had upset things. If you truly do not fear the dead... I wish for you to go to the temple in this land and sever the root of the evil curse that torments us. To do that... I, the only one who knows the way into the temple, shall direct you to the King. The King is in the ruins of Ikana Castle, awaiting the coming of the one who will break the curse. ...I hav emade my final request.
It disappears. Walk outside. Go near the house. Pamela will run inside. Plant a bomb in front of the door, and hide beside the wheel. She will come outside. When she gets far enough away from the door, go inside. Run down the stairs and towards the closet.
(Cinema Scene)
A mummy appears as the doors fly open.
Play the Song of Healing.
(Cinema Scene)
The mummy shakes it's head, and a mask falls off revealing a man.
Pamela: ...Father? Father!
Father: Pamela! What have I been doing this whole time?
Pamela: You... haven't been doing anything... You had a bad dream. You were just having a nightmare.
Father: Pamela.
You will get the Gibdo Mask. Now go buy 5 Magic Beans, and a blue potion, and obtain 10 bombs, and 10 Deku Nuts. You can buy the blue potion for 100 rupees from the Deku Salesman on the other side of Ikana Canyon, by following the path along the river. Now run to the highest part of the western edge of Ikana Canyon, and jump down the well. Go into the dark entrance.
Beneath the Well
Wearing the Gibdo Mask, turn right and talk to the Gibdo.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeave me something delicious to chomp on. Something that sprouts when it's watered. Preferably five of them.
Give it five beans.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame and the bars blocking the door are lifted. Go through the door, and to the Gibdo more or less straight down the hall.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me something that makes a blinding flash! Preferably ten of them.
Give it ten Deku Nuts.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Now turn back and go to the entrance. Talk to the remaining Gibdo.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeave me something blue that bestows health!
Give it the Blue Potion.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go through the door. Turn left, and catch two fish in the tiny pond. Now, avoiding the spikes, make your way to the second half of the room, and turn left. Talk to the Gibdo.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me something deliciously fresh!
Give it a fish.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go through the door. Carefully make your way to the other end of the hall. Defeat the Dexihand at the other end, and grab some hot spring water. Run as fast as you can to the entrance, through the other door, and straight until you reach another Gibdo. Talk to it if the spring water is still hot. If not, get some more and try again.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me something warm that can melt ice and quench one's spirits.
Give it the hot spring water.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go through the door and play Epona's Song for the cow.
Cow: Moo! Nice moooosic. It reminds me of the pasture. That song just makes me want to let go and put out a lot of milk. I'll give some to you. Milk will make you very healthy.
Now that you have the milk, leave the room and walk over to the remaining Gibdo. Talk to it.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me ten refreshing blasts!
Give it ten bombs.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go into the next room. Run to the middle. Three blue flames will appear, and come together to form a Big Poe. To defeat it, hit it with arrows. When it's spinning towards you, block it with your shield, or move out of the way. After it's been hit, it will disappear and reappear behind you. After a few hits, it will turn into a pale burning flame. Put it in a bottle. Leave the room, and then turn right to exit the next room. Now look along the right wall for a Gibdo. Talk to it.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me something deliciously fresh.
Give it the second fish.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go into the next room. Walk straight down the hall and talk to the Gibdo.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeave me a ghost... A big one at that!
Give it the Big Poe.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go into the next room. Walk to the opposite end of the hall while avoiding the spikes. Talk to the Gibdo.
Gibdo: Leeeeave it! Leeeeave it! Leeeaave me something rich in calcium.
Give it the milk.
Gibdo: Ah! Thisss! Thissss! I bear you no remorssse!
It disappears in a green flame. The bars blocking the door are lifted. Go into the next room. Light all the torches. A treasure chest will appear. Open it and you will find the Mirror Shield. Stand in the sunlight and use the shield to reflect it at the sun icon. A ladder will appear. Now reflect it at the blue block. It will disappear. Climb up the ladder, go outside and climb out of the well.
You are now at the Ancient Castle of Ikana. Get a Powder Keg, and return to the castle. Go inside. Shoot a Fire Arrow at the frozen eye on the other side of the left pillar. The iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Go into the next room. Hit the crystal switch. The magma floor will rise. Run to the other side before it comes back down. As Deku Link, hit the next crystal switch. Before the floor comes back down, dive into the Deku Flower on the right side of the platform, and fly to the top of it. Take off the mask, and press the switch down. The iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Go to the next room. As Deku Link, dive into the Deku Flower and fly to the switch on the left. Press it. The iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Use the Lens of Truth to see a block to help you get across to the next ledge. Watch out for the two Skulltulas up ahead. Jump across to the next ledge, and off the corner of this one, towards the door. Go into the next room and up the stairs. Open the next door and you will find yourself outside on the castle roof. As Darmani, go to the edge of the castle, and throw a Powder Keg over the fence. If it blows a hole in the roof, jump down and enter the castle. If not, try again. Use your shield to reflect the sunlight at the blue block. After it disappears, run down the hall, and into the next room. Run forward.
(Cinema Scene)
The ground shakes.
Igos du Ikana: Oh, insolent one who has brought the unthinkable into a land as dark as Ikana...
(The curtains close, preventing light from entering the room.)
Igos du Ikana: My servants have fallen namelessly before the light that guides you. However... The darkness in which my servants live, after all, is fleeting. You shall see with your own eyes... just what kind of true thing darkness really is.
Whenever you get a chance, whip out a Fire Arrow, and burn down one of the curtains. Light will come pouring in from that window. If you want to make things a bit easier, burn down the other curtain as well. Keep attacking the skeletons until one of them falls to the ground. At this point, quickly run to the sunlight, and reflect it at the fallen body. It will burn up in a blue flame. Repeat this for the remaining skeleton. Now Igos du Ikana will take over, and things get a bit more difficult. As always, attack when Igos uses it's breath attack, hit it with an arrow, or some other distance attack. It is important that you do not defend for too long, or the head will fly off and follow you around the room. As soon as the head re-attaches, attack. When Igos' body falls to the ground, hit it with sunlight. It will burn up in a blue flame.
(Cinema Scene)
Igos' head appears floating surrounded by a purple mist. The other two skeletons' heads appear on either side of the head in a similar fashion.
Skeleton 1: You're blocking me! Get out of the way! I can still get him!
Skeleton 2: B-blocking you?! The reason he beat us is because you were so feeble! Don't blame this on me!
Skeleton 1: What?! Just try saying that again to my bony face!
Skeleton 2: Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble! Feeble!
Skeleton 1: Shut up, already! Grrrr!!! Don't look at me--I was once called the best swordsman in all of Ikana...
Skeleton 2: The greatest swordsman in all of Ikana? You? Feeeeeeeeble.
Skeleton 1: ...Draw your weapon!
Skeleton 2: Huh?
Skeleton 1: I'm telling you to draw your sword!
Skeleton 2: ...... How?
(Skeleton 1 starts laughing.)
Skeleton 2: Rrrrr-Ah!!!
Igos du Ikana: Will you stop?!!? What fools! Haven't you begun to understand? The kingdom being ruined and us left in this state... Isn't it petty, little battles like this that have caused it?
(The two skeleton heads disappear in blue flames.)
Igos du Ikana: Believing in your friends and embracing that belief by forgiving failure... These feelings have vanished from our hearts. It all happened after somebody thrust open the doors of that Stone Tower. You who bring light into darkness, I am the King of Ikana Kingdom, Igos du Ikana. The spellbinding that had been cast upon us was broken by that light which you carry. To return true light to this land, you must seal the doors of Stone Tower where the winds of darkness blow through. But Stone Tower is an impenetrable stronghold. Hundreds of soldiers from my kingdom would not even be able to topple it. It is far too reckless for one to take such a challenge ...And so... I grant to you a soldier who has no heart. One who will not falter in the darkness.
You will learn the Elegy of Emptiness. Link will appear woozy as a green light surrounds him. As he steps forward, a statue of him appears in his place.
Igos du Ikana: This soldier who has no heart is your twin image. A shell of yourself that will shed when your song commands it.
Igos' head disappears in a blue flame.
Igos du Ikana: On my kingdom... shine the light of justice...
Exit the castle and return to Ikana Canyon. Go up the ramp on the right side of the music box house, and then up the tongue of the statue into the Stone Tower. Jump across the three blocks and step onto the swich on the other side as either Link, Mikau, or Darmani. Play the Elegy of Emptiness. As you step off the statue will hold the switch down. Use the hookshot to reach the target. Assuming the form of whichever two of the three you haven't left statues of, stand on the next switch and play the Elegy of Emptiness. Look high up towards the first switch to see another target. Hit it with the hookshot, and step on the last switch assuming the last form that you have yet to leave a statue of. Play the Elegy of Emptiness, and the three blocks will form a new path. Use this path to get to the other side. You can ignore the next three switches you see, and hit the target with the hookshot. Assuming any of the three forms, stand on the switch and leave a statue. Notice your original statue of that character disappears. High up above this switch is another target you must reach. Once you're on that ledge, leave another statue on the switch. Above the side of the ledge opposite that of the switch, there will be another target for you to grab on to. Leave a statue in the last remaining form you have on the switch. Three blocks will form a new path, which you must use to get across to the other side. Again, you can ignore the next three blocks you see. Hit the target using the hookshot. Stand in a straight line with it to avoid the rocks on either side, and move towards the edge of the ledge. When you reach it, grab onto the target high above and in front of you. From here, look up and to the right to hit another target. These last three switches must be pressed in a certain order. Assuming you're looking at the giant stone face, leave the statues on the switches as follows: right, left, middle. Once you've done that, you can cross the stone pathway, and enter the Stone Tower Temple (you can ignore the last three switches).
Stone Tower Temple
Go through the door on the left side of the room. While avoiding the Real Bombchus, you have to press down all the switches at once. To find the first switch, turn left from the door. Leave a Link or Mikau statue here. Blow up the wall with a crack in it next to this switch. Break one of the crates and pick up one of the small boxes behind it. Take it to the next switch, which is right down the hall, and leave it there. As Darmani, stand on the big switch on the other side of the wall, and leave a statue there. In your last remaining form, run down the hallway, turn right, step on the switch, and leave a statue. The gate will rise, and stay up so you can go to the next area. Plant a bomb on the dark area of the ground that doesn't have any grass growing on it. Go downstairs. Reflect the sunlight at the blue block. Defeat the four Armos' and a treasure chest will appear. Darmani can safely walk across lava, so use him to open it. You will get a key. Go back upstairs and unlock the locked door. As Mikau, dive into the water and let the Dexihand on the other side grab you. You will be thrown onto dry land. Open the treasure chest to get a key, and dive back underwater. This time, go through the passage beneath the Dexihand. Surface and use the key on the locked door. As Darmani, punch the pile of stones three times, and a ray of light will appear. Use the Mirror Shield to reflect the sunlight at the mirror on the left. Hold it there for as long as you can without being attacked. The light will continue to shine off the mirror for a limited amount of time when you're done. Quickly run to the mirror, and reflect the sunlight at the next mirror until it disappears from the first one. Quickly run and reflect that sunlight at the blue block. It will disappear. Go to the next room. As Deku Link, dive into the Deku Flower, and keep flying towards the air vents to keep yourself up. When you get to the ledge, go into the next room. Run forward.
(Cinema Scene)
Link looks high up at a Garo Master. It laughs at Link and jumps down.
To defeat the Garo Master, get a safe distance away from it, let it run at you, and dodge it. It will momentarily be confused. Use this opportunity to strike. If it disappears, it will quickly reappear somewhere near you. This is another good opportunity to get a hit in. After you hit it, don't let your guard down, as it will quickly strike back. After a few hits, you'll have it defeated.
Garo Master: To think I could not be defeated... Although my rival, you were spectacular. I shall take my bow by opening my heart and revealing my wisdom... If you shoot that which releases the sacred golden light into the blood-stained red emblem outside the temple... it shall rearrange things, in which the earth is born in the heavens and the moon is born on the earth. Do not forget these words... Die I shall, leaving no corpse.
It explodes. The iron bars blocking the door are lifted, and a treasure chest appears.
Garo Master: That is the law of us Garo.
Open the treasure chest and you will find a Light Arrow. Go into the next room. Jump onto the walkway and hit the Hiploop with the hookshot. The mask it's wearing will fall off. Now just hit it, and go into the next room. You now have to face an Eyegore. To defeat it, go near it, and let it walk towards you. When it gets close enough, it will pound the ground, shooting a boulder from it, and it's eye will turn yellow. At this point, hit the eye with a long-range weapon. When the eye turns red, you'll know you've beaten it. After it explodes, go through the door. You are now in the very first room. Leave the temple. Place a statue on the right switch (assuming you're facing the target). Using the Light Arrow, shoot the red emblem that the block was covering. Everything will turn upside-down and Link will fall onto the new floor. Enter the temple again. Run to the door on the right. Hit the blue block with a Light Arrow. It will disappear. As Deku Link, use one of the two side vents to reach the very top path. Land on it, and go into the small corridor. Step on the switch and a treasure chest will appear. Get the key inside and use the left vent to reach the locked door. Unlock it. Shoot the red emblem with a Light Arrow. The room will flip rightside-up. Cross the lava and shoot the emblem again. With the room upside-down, you can enter the next room. Shoot the red emblem to turn the room rightside-up. Look for the block and place it right next to the step so that you can't move it any farther. Flip the room upside-down. Push the block to the other side, and off the step. Flip the room rightside-up. Push it forward towards the next step. When you can't push it any farther, flip the room upside-down. Now push the block into the hole. The iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Flip the room rightside-up, run to the wall that the previously unaccessable door is at, and flip the room upside-down again. In the next room you have to fight a Wizrobe. When you've defeated it, a treasure chest will appear. Use the hookshot to hit the treasure chest and pull yourself up towards the ledge. Go down the stairs. As Deku Link, dive into the Deku Flower, and float to the other side. Use the Deku Flower on this side of the room to reach the passage on the corner. Once inside, you will be faced with many Death Armos'. Fight them or ignore them, but you must step on the switch on the left side of the room. Leave a statue there and you can open the treasure chest on the ledge to the left of the switch. You will get a key. Go back to the Deku Flower and open the door. Blow up two of the mines hanging in the middle of the room. Then, as Deku Link, fly there. Use the Deku Flower to reach the other half of the room. Go to the next room. Run down the hallway and into the next room. The door will lock behind you.
(Cinema Scene)
Hundreds of bats fly around the room. They fly towards each other and Gomess appears between them. The room gets darker.
To defeat Gomess, hit it with a Light Arrow, and quickly strike before the bats return. Afterwards, hold up your shield to block it's spinning attack. Keep doing this until you've won.
(Cinema Scene)
Gomess' scythe hits the floor. Gomess and all the bats drop to the floor and burn up. The iron bars blocking the door are lifted.
Open the door and the treasure chest behind it to recieve the Boss Key. Leave the room, go back down the hallway, and across the next room. Turn left and go through the door. You are back in the first room. Jump across to the ledge with the Death Armos on it, and step on the switch. A treasure chest will appear. Hit it with the hookshot, run down the path, and unlock the door. You will have to fight another Eyegore. Instead of just hitting the ground, this one also has a laser beam attack. When you've defeated it, it will blow up, a treasure chest will appear, and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Open the treasure chest and you will receive the Giant's Mask. Go into the next room. Hit the crystal switch to make a treasure chest appear. Hit it with the hookshot. Hit the target on the ceiling to get passed the spikes, and unlock the big door to the next room. Jump down the hole.
(Cinema Scene)
Link lands in a giant desert. The ground shakes. Link looks around him and sees two giant floating worm-like creatures come out of the sand, encircle him, and go back under. The words "Giant Masked Insect TwinMold" appear on the screen.
Boss Fight: TwinMold
To defeat TwinMold, you'll need to be fast, and make sure you have a good supply of magic. Wear the Giant's Mask to get really big. Now, simply hack away at either the head or tail of either of the creatures. If you find yourself running low on magic, destroy a stone pillar. It may contain a magic jar, although you'll have to shrink to pick it up. I should point out that if you run too far (outer stones mark boundaries), you'll sink into the sand, and re-appear at the entrance of the temple. You'll have to start the fight all over again. If you don't feel like wearing the Giant's Mask, you can target their heads or tails with Light Arrows, although this probably wastes more magic than it's worth. Sooner or later, one of them will blow up section by section until just the head is left. The head will fall into the sand. At this point, the other one will become faster, and harder to hit. Keep hacking away until you've defeated them both.
(Cinema Scene)
The last creature will explode section by section, and end up with it's head buried in the sand like it's partner.
Walk into the blue light.
(Cinema Scene)
Link holds up TwinMold's Remains. They fly up and disappear in a yellow ball of light. Link appears in a pale yellow room on a platform.
Tatl: Well, we've helped all of you. That's all we can do.
The god starts making strange noises.
Tatl: "Call us." That's what they're saying. Without being told, we understand. So now you'll help us out in exchange! We'll call you from atop the Clock Tower, so do something about him, all right? What? Their voices are sad... You don't want to? "Forgive our friend." Forgive our friend? What do you mean by forgive? Huh? What friend.
Link appears at the base of the Stone Tower. A strange purple mist appears behind him and shoots up in to the sky. It covers a huge part of the sky for a while and disappears.
Go back to Clock Town and wait for midnight on Day 3.
(Cinema Scene)
The carnival arrives and fireworks go off. The door leading to the top of the clock tower opens and stairs form.
Walk up the newly formed staircase. Most things will be the same as the first time around, but not quite everything...
(Cinema Scene)
Skull Kid: .........
Tael: Sis!!!
Tatl: ...Tael!
Tael: Swamp. Mountain. Ocean. Canyon. Hurry... The four who are there... Bring them here...
Skull Kid hits Tael.
Skull Kid: Don't speak out of line! Stupid fairy!!!
Tatl: !!! That's it! I won't let things go the way you expect them to!
Skull Kid: ...Well, whatever. Even if they were to come now they wouldn't be able to handle me... Hee, hee. Just look above you... If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
Skull Kid stretches his arms and legs out. Some sort of energy appears around him.
Play the Oath to Order.
(Cinema Scene)
Everything starts to shake. The gods' voices can be heard from a distance as Skull Kid looks around in fear and starts shaking. The moon inches closer to Clock Town. From each compass direction, a god moves closer towards the moon. They stand around Clock Town and hold the moon up just before it crushes the clock tower.
Tatl: It... It stopped. We did it! It stopped!
Tael: Sis!!!
Tatl: Tael!!! Good... We made it in time. The giants' call worked on the Skull Kid. Hey, Skull Kid! Do you realize what you've been doing to everyone?!?
Tael: Wait... Sis... Don't... Don't be so hard on the Skull Kid.
Tatl: Tael! Why are you protecting him! Aren't you mad at him for hitting you so much?
Tael: He was lonely... ...the Skull Kid.
Tatl: He was trying to destroy everything around him! That's not the same as a lonely child! We can't allow that!
Tael: The power of the mask made him do it. It was too much for the Skull Kid to handle.
Tatl: It's 'cause he doesn't know his place! On top of having a weak will and no strength of heart... he's a fool!
Majora's Mask: Certainly, he had far too many weaknesses to use my power.
Tatl: Yeah! That's right! Admit your stupidity! ...Huh?
Skull Kid gets up and starts floating.
Majora's Mask: A puppet that can no longer be used is mere garbage.
The mask falls off Skull Kid.
Majora's Mask: This puppet's role has just ended...
Tael: It can't be! Then that moon?
A beam of light comes out of the moon's mouth. Majora's Mask gets sucked into it's mouth, and it's eyes glow.
Moon: I... I shall consume. Consume... Consume everything.
The gods struggle to keep the moon from crashing.
Tatl: Waahhhhh! This isn't good! Let's go back! Let's go back! Hurry! The Song of Time! The Song of Time!!!
Link looks at the light.
Tatl: Aw, no... You've got to be kidding. Don't tell me you're going up there... I won't do it! You go by yourself! I'm staying here with Tael.
Tael: I'll go!!!
Tatl: What?! What are you saying, Tael? Is something wrong with you?
Tael: I don't always want to be running away! If only I had been stronger, the Skull Kid wouldn't have...
Tatl: I understand. I'll go! After all this time, Tael, you've gotten really stubborn... Just like someone else I know... You know, you guys are really stupid...
Link and Tatl run into the light and get sucked in. They appear in a beautiful green place with a giant tree in the middle.
The Moon
Run towards the tree and talk to the child wearing Majora's Mask.
Majora's Mask Child: Will you play... with me?
Yes You have only weak masks... So... You'll play?
No You're a boring kid.
(After choosing "Yes")
Yes Well... Shall we go?
No ...You're a coward.
After choosing "Yes", Link appears in a very colorful room. Run forward.
(Cinema Scene)
A ball of light appears between Link's hands. It separates into four lights, and each turns into one of the four masks. They fly to different parts of the wall and then Majora's Mask appears. The words "Majora's Mask" appear on the screen.
Sub-Boss Fight: Majora's Mask
To hit Majora's Mask, turn into Deku Link and dive into one of the Deku Flowers painted on the floor. Wait for the mask to pass over you, and hit it. After you've done this a few times, the other four masks will fly off the wall and attack you. To defeat them, hit them each with arrows until they fall to the ground. When they're near the ground, you can hit them with a sword. While walking around, watch out for Majora's Mask's fire attack. If it uses it on you, reflect it back with the Mirror Shield. You'll have to do this manually, though; Z-Targeting won't work. Eventually, you'll defeat it.
(Cinema Scene)
The mask grows arms, legs, and a little eye on top of it's head. The words "Majora's Incarnation" appear on the screen.
Boss Fight: Majora's Incarnation
Majora's Incarnation will begin running around the room wildly. If you don't act fast, it will start shooting balls of light at you. To stun it, hit it with an arrow. When it's down, hit it with a sword. Do this a few times to defeat it.
(Cinema Scene)
The mask turns into the middle of the body as the arms and legs get bigger, and a head appears on top of the mask. It now has whip-like tentacles. The words "Majora's Wrath" appear on the screen.
Final Boss Fight: Majora's Wrath
Majora's Wrath will use it's tentacles against you by jumping in the air and spinning in circles. It will also whip them at you if you get too close to it. All of this can be blocked with a shield. Hit Majora's Wrath with an arrow to stun it, then move in and hit it with a sword. If you manage to get close enough to it, you can actually stun it with a sword, saving yourself arrows. After you do this a few times, it will be beaten.
(Cinema Scene)
Majora's Wrath begins floating. It starts to crumble as light appears to come out of it. The gods turn the moon into a ball of colors, and send it across the sky, forming a rainbow. The words "Dawn of a New Day" appear on the screen.
Tatl: Aah! He's awake!
Link gets up and shakes his head. He looks at Skull Kid. The four gods are watching.
Skull Kid: You guys... You hadn't forgotten about me?
One of the gods makes a noise. Skull Kid looks at the ground and starts shaking.
Skull Kid: You still thought of me as a friend?
Tatl and Tael fly over to Skull Kid. The gods start singing the Oath to Order as they walk back to where they came from.
Skull Kid: Did you... Did you save me? I thought they didn't want to be friends with me... But... They hadn't forgotten about me... Friends are a nice thing to have... Heh, heh. Could you be my friend, too?
He walks over to Link and smells him.
Skull Kid: Eh-hee-hee... You have the same smell as the fairy kid who taught me that song in the woods... I know, I know! Let's do something!
The Happy Mask Salesman appears holding Majora's Mask in his hands.
Happy Mask Salesman: Oh... So the evil has left the mask after all... Well, now... I finally have it back. Since I am in the midst of my travels... I must bid you farewell.
He starts walking away, then stops and looks back at Link.
Happy Mask Salesman: Shouldn't you be returning home as well? Wherever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow. However, that parting need not last forever... Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short time... That is up to you. With that, please excuse me...
He starts walking away, then stops and looks back again.
Happy Mask Salesman: ...But my, you sure have managed to make quite a number of people happy. The masks you have are filled with happiness. This is truly a good happiness.
He walks away.
Tatl: Well, both of us have gotten what we were after... So this is where you and I part ways, isn't it? You know... it was kind of fun. Well... it's almost time for the carnival to begin... So why don't you just leave and go about your business? The rest of us have a carnival to go to.
Link nods and gets on Epona. They gallop away.
Tatl: Link! ...Thank you.
Firewords start to go off around the clock tower as credits roll. The Indigo-Gos begin playing. Different parts of Termina are shown as the inhabitants go about their business. Everybody is happy. Later on, they are all at Anju's wedding. The path that Link came into this world on is shown. He appears in the woods in Hyrule on Epona back where he started. They gallop away. A drawing of Link and Skull Kid on a tree stump is shown, and the words "The End" appear at the bottom of the screen.
