Walkthrough - Oracle of Ages - The Land of Hyrule

Walkthrough

This is the Walkthrough for Oracle of Ages, one of the two games in the Oracle series released for the Game Boy Color. Once again I've used the name "Link" for my file, so keep that in mind while reading this section. Notice any typos? If so, let me know and I'll fix them.

Link falls through darkness as the message "Accept our quest, hero!" appears on the screen. He appears in a field surrounded by trees.
Move up two screens.
Impa: HELLLLP!!!
Link moves towards Impa and saves her.
Impa: That was frightening! I was suddenly attacked... Thank you, traveler. What is your name? Link, is it? I see a triangle on the back of your left hand. That is the sign of a Hyrulean hero! That must be why the beasts fled. I am Impa, nurse to Hyrule's Princess Zelda. I am looking for a singer named Nayru. Will you help me look, Link? I'd feel safer with you nearby.
Go up and left a screen, then move forward towards the rock.
Impa: Oh! That's it!
(She runs over to it.)
Impa: This rock with the triangle is a sign!
(Link walks over to her.)
Impa: Could you move this rock for me, Link? I'll... um... I'll just... I can't do it...
Push the rock out of the way.
Impa: Thank you... Now let's go.
Keep moving north until you see a bunch of animals surrounding a singer. Talk to each of the animals, in no specific order.
Bird: No! I have to hear Nayru's song!
Bear: How charming...
Man: Shhh! I can't hear Nayru sing!
Monkey: Huh? Nayru's the best singer in Labrynna!
Rabbit: La la li li la La li li la
Go talk to the bear again. It will move out of the way.
Bear: Sit here and listen. How charming...
Walk towards Nayru.
Bear: Isn't it enchanting?
Link is shown admiring Nayru's singing.
Ralph: You're Hyrule's messengers, aren't you! Impa and Link, right? A bird brought message of your arrival. My name is Ralph! I am an old friend of Nayru's. We're counting on you.
Nayru moves closer to Link.
Nayru: Thank you. You've come all the way from Hyrule, correct? Pleased to meet you. I am Nayru. I've been very worried after hearing that Labrynna would face many evil troubles.
Ralph: Don't worry, Nayru! I'm here. I'll chase away any beast that comes near you! Sorry, Link, but I doubt we'll need you.
Nayru: I'm sorry, Link. Ralph is always like this when it comes to me. But I feel that something evil is approaching, just as Ralph claims...
Impa moves closer to the crowd and starts shaking.
Impa: Ah hah hah hah! You are correct! Not bad for a diva... Not bad for Nayru, Oracle of Ages! Something terrible will happen right now before your very eyes!
She starts spinning, then a black creature pops out of her. It flys around the screen, then stops and takes human form.
Veran: Thank you, Link! You allowed me to pass through the sacred barrier! I've been waiting for this moment! I am Veran, Sorceress of Shadows!
(She turns back into the black creature.)
Veran: Nayru! Oracle of Ages! I shall make your body my own! Ah hah hah hah!
She flys into Nayru, then back out.
Ralph: What are you doing to Nayru? I'll cut you in two if you don't let her go!
Veran: Hah! Aren't you brave! Turning a sword at me! If you cut me, it's Nayru who dies!
(Ralph backs off.)
Veran: Nayru is no mere diva! She is the Oracle of Ages, who controls time! Now the oracle's powers are mine. I can travel through time as I choose!
Lightning strikes the ground and Nayru is transported to that spot.
Veran: Now a new age shall begin... The age of darkness!!! Ah hah hah hah!
She moves up a step and disappears.
Veran: I shall go to the past and do as I please!
Several different bad things are shown happening throughout Labrynna.
Ralph: That Veran! She couldn't touch the stone so she used you to get in here! I've known Nayru was the Oracle of Ages since she was a child. I have always been beside her, protecting her. But now this!!! NAYRU!!! Nayru!!! Wait! I'll save you! NAYRU!!!
He runs away. Link moves towards Impa.
Impa: Oh! Link! You saved me! To think I was possessed! Shadows were surrounding the Oracle of Ages, so I came hoping to take her to Hyrule. I had no idea this would happen... ............ That Veran lady is frightening. I was forced to do her will, in spite of myself. Veran said she'd go back in time. She must be planning to use Nayru's power to launch some sort of plan in the past. Labrynna already feels the effects. If it's true, we must stop her... Uhh! My limbs feel so heavy after what Veran did. I can't move them very easily. Link... If the triangle on your left hand is real, then you may be the hero who will save this world. Please help us! Ah, yes! Zelda entrusted this sword to me. You may use it.
You will get the Wooden Sword.
Impa: Link, can you go meet the Maku Tree in Lynna Village? The Maku Tree is the guardian of Labrynna. Surely she can help. Nayru'e House is in the woods east of here. I'll be there.
Go south as far as you can. Turn left to enter Lynna City. Go north until you see a cave, at which point, enter it. A message will appear on the screen that says "Maku Road". Keep going north until you've reached the exit.
Maku Tree: Pleased to meet you, young hero. I am the Maku Tree, guardian of Labrynna... Veran, Sorceress of Shadows, has taken Nayru, the Oracle of Ages. She's disrupting the flow of time from the past. She's trying to flood this world with the power of sorrow. We cannot give in to one of impure heart. You must stop Veran--and soon--but to stop her, you'll need some- thing...
The Maku Tree starts flashing blue.
Maku Tree: Ahh... I feel so wierd. I'm vanishing! Something must be happening to me in the past! Help!
The screen flashes and the Maku Tre disappears.
Go right.
Ralph: The Maku Tree? This is more of Veran's work! Link! You made it! Veran just leapt through this Time Portal! If we go back in time, we should be able to save Nayru and the Maku Tree! I'm coming, Nayru!
He goes into the Time Portal.
Follow him and you will be transported to the past.
Man: Another one?!? First, that guy with the weird hat appears, then you... Ever since that girl Nayru came, there's been all sorts o' weird goings on!
He walks away.
Go south and enter Lynna Village. Go to the southwest corner of the village and cross the bridge to the Black Tower. Talk to the construction worker in front of the entrance.
Construction Worker: This is the entry to the tower being built to the heavens by the order of Queen Ambi. At first, this tower was being built to guide Queen Ambi's love safely back from the sea. But ever since Nayru came, the sun sits high in the sky as if time itself has stopped. It's not like Queen Ambi to push us so hard. In the village, they've started calling it the Black Tower. You can look around, but the construction has some areas closed. If you hang around too much, though, you might get yelled at.
Enter the tower and the message "The Black Tower" will pop up on the screen. Walk around counter-clockwise until you see the foreman looking at a clipboard near four pits. Talk to the foreman.
Foreman: Huh? A diggin' tool? That's the spirit, sonny! Here! You can have this shovel! Can you use the Shovel to move that dirt outta the way?
You will get a shovel.
Foreman: We're workin' hard on this tower! Help us out!
Leave the tower and go to the northwest part of Lynna Village; the equivalent of where the Maku Tree is in the present. Dig the dirt out of the way of the cave and enter it. The message "Maku Road" will appear on the screen. Keep moving up until you can't anymore. Turn left at this point, and defeat all the enemies to open the door. In the next room, move counter-clockwise while moving blocks out of the way to reach the switch. Step on it and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a key. Go back a few rooms to unlock the locked door. In the next room, move the blocks on the left side of the room this way; go to the right side of the blocks surrounding the switch and push the middle one inwards. Push the one above it up. Keep moving left to reach the switch. Step on it and enter the next room. Defeat all the enemies and move the block to open the door. Go to the next room, then up the stairs to leave. You will find two Moblins attacking a young Maku Tree.
Moblin 1: Bwee! This is the guy Veran was talking about! Get 'im!
Moblin 2: No! Noooo! LEAVE ME ALONE!
They start jumping up and down. Walk over to them.
Moblin 2: What's with you? Keep clear!
Start attacking them. When you defeat one, the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: Aaahh! Oh dear! Get them!
Defeat the remaining Moblin.
Maku Tree: Wow! You were so daring and cool! Th-thank you! Who are you? Link! What a nice name. I'm the Maku Tree. You were brave! They said the Oracle of Ages convinced Queen Ambi to build a Black Tower... Maybe she made them attack me. Thank you for rescuing me! I will never, ever forget it! And I promise I'll repay you when I grow up! This is about all I can do... Ah-hah!
(The gate opens.)
Maku Tree: Remember... I will repay you when I grow up! Be sure to come see me.
Move south. Before you can leave the screen, the Maku Tree will talk to you again.
Maku Tree: Dear! ...Umm... ...ahh... When I grow up, I'm going to be your bride! Ahh! I said it!
Walk into the time portal. Now that you're in the present, go talk to the Maku Tree again.
Maku Tree: Uhhn... It's weird... It all seems so foggy. I'm forgetting so much... ...Oh!?! You... You're... Link! Link! Why are you here now? I've been waiting so long for you. Don't you remember? Hundreds of years ago? Link, you promised! "When I grow up, I'll marry you!" That's what you said, Link. Four hundred years I waited. But... I knew you wouldn't forget about me. Our hearts are bound across time by a thread of... What? That's not why you're here? Why won't you listen to me? Fine! You want to talk about Veran, right? Maybe Veran is using Queen Ambi to raise the tower to the heavens. "If one of impure heart gains the powers of shadow... this world will be covered in darkness." That's what this is about... To know the past is to know the present. Veran can do as she pleases if she finds dark power in the past. All will go dark! Link! You must stop Veran and save Nayru! Must I say it again?
Yes - Maybe Veran...
No - I don't recall, but I think you need the eight Essences of Time hidden in Labrynna to beat Veran! The essences hold the power to see the truth, and they hold my memory! You won't beat Veran if you can't see the truth! With the flow of time disrupted, my memory is fading... What will we do? I'm at a loss... But if you find the essences, I'll remember everything! And you'll be able to stop Veran!!! Please do this, Link! First, I want you to go to Yoll Graveyard in the east. I hear the first essence is there. I can't do much, but take this.
(A Seed Satchel falls to the ground.)
Maku Tree: The Ember Seeds in this Seed Satchel will offer light in dark places and burn small trees from your path.
Pick up the Seed Satchel and head east. When you come to a small tree next to a sign, burn it down using an Ember Seed. Burn down the next small tree as well. Head one screen right, down, and left and you'll come across a group of kids.
Kid 1: No way! It's too scary! It's pitck black inside that grave beneath the tree!
Kid 2: Shut up! It's no good if you get scared! Besides... It might come out... ...The ghost.
They all get scared and run away. Keep moving south, and then to the right until you reach a dead end. Burn down the small tree at the bottom of the screen to reveal a hidden staircase. Go down, and light the two torches inside. A Graveyard Key will fall to the ground. Pick it up and leave. Now go north until you reach a gate. Use the key to unlock it. Keep going until you come to a building that is raised up above the other graves. Enter it.
Spirit's Grave
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 1 Spirit's Grave". Go through the door on the right side of the room. Defeat all the enemies in this room, then push the block closest to the south wall out of the way to reach the door. In this room, simply push the cube forward until all the torches are lit. The doors in this room will open. Go right again, then north. Defeat the ghost in the room and a key will fall onto the red square. Pick it up, and go left. In the next room, push the block in the middle of the room out of the way and head north. In this room, push either of the two blocks to the right out of the way to reach the treasure chest. Grab the key inside, then move as far left as you can. Then push the red block next to the wall down, and the one next to it over to the side. Follow the path and keep moving right until you reach an opened doorway (the second one, not the first). In this room, push the middle block up, the two next to it off to either side, and the remaining two up. Step on the switches on both sides of the room to make a treasure chest and a sliding platform appear. Use the sliding platform to reach the treasure chest. Once you've gotten the key from inside, leave the room. Go left and enter the first door you see. Use the sliding platform to reach the room on the left, then use a key on the locked door to the south. Here, a Giant Ghini will appear. Avoid the smaller spirit that float around it (they can be defeated using the sword), while attacking Giant Ghini with the sword. Once defeated, a warp will appear, and the two doors in the room will open. Go through the door on the left, then use the remaining key on the locked door to the south. When you get to the south end of this room, push the two blocks on the side down and the middle block off to the side. Go through the doorway, work your way to the right side of the room, then move up. Light the two torches at the north side of this room to make a stairway appear. Go down the stairs, and pick up the Power Bracelet. Go back upstairs, and south a room. Pick up one of the pots blocking the ladder, then climb it. Go south a room, and get off the ledge. Push the pot onto the switch to hold the door open. In the next room, pick up the pot in front of the treasure chest, then open it to get the Boss Key. Go right one more room, and step into the warp. From here, move north two rooms. In the second room, all you have to do is unlock the door while avoiding the Wallmaster. When you've reached the door, go through it.
Boss Fight: Pumpkin Head
To defeat Pumpkin Head, slash it's body until it disappears. Then use the Power Bracelet to pick up the head and move it out of the way. You can use either the head, or your sword to attack the tiny ghost. Repeat this until you've won. Once you have, go through the north door and collect the Eternal Spirit. Once you've done that, the screen will go white, and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will fall down the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: It's me, the Maku Tree! I hear an essence echoing in the Western Woods. Can you go there?
Head to Lynna Village. Once there, keep going west as far as you can, then go south. Keep following the path in the woods until you're on a screen where three fairies appear on the screen, and talk to you.
Fairy 1: This is our playground!
Fairy 2: Won't you play hide 'n' seek?
Fariy 3: If you can't find the three of us, you can't go on!
Fairy 1: We'll hide, so try to find us!
They all fly away, and go to different places.
Fairy 1: Ready or not, come find us!
From here, you have to navigate the mixed-up woods, so go in the following directions: first, go left, then south. Cut down the bushes to find a fairy.
Fairy 2: Dang! But there are still two more!
She flies back to the tree where you first met her. Now go up, left (you should now me on a screen with the fairy you just found), left, left. Cut down the bush that is closest to the compass direction southwest. Another fairy will appear.
Fairy 3: You found me... But the last one is hardest!
She flies back to the tree where you first met her. To find the last fairy, go right (you should now be on a screen with the two fairies you just found), up, down, up. Pick up the rock to find the last fairy.
Fairy 1: What? You found us all? You're good, mister!
She flies back to the tree where you first met her. You will now appear on the screen with the three fairies you just found.
Fairy 1: Aww... You found us all. OK, we won't tease you anymore. We'll put the forest back in order.
The screen flashes a few times.
Fairy 2: That was fun! Let's play again sometime.
From here, go one screen right and pick up the rock. The cave will collapse. The Maku Tree will then talk to you.
Maku Tree: Link, are you all right? Now you can't get inside! The rock you blasted was a support stone that held up the cave. Too bad Nayru can't give us some advice... Maybe there's something in Nayru's House that can help! Why don't you go look?
From here, go to Nayru's House, near where you met Nayru for the first time. When inside, push the statue in front of Impa over to the side. Walk up the hidden staircase, then down the next one to find a hidden room. Pick up the Harp of Ages once inside. The screen will turn black, and Nayru will appear.
Nayru: I am Nayru, Oracle of Ages. You are holding an instrument called the Harp of Ages. I do not know you, but it is not by mere chance that you now hold that harp. You are a hero chosen by the currents of time. Your arrival means I am not in this age any longer. I hid the harp here, knowing this could happen. I entrust the harp to you! By plaing certain tunes on the Harp of Ages, you can travel through time! Let me teach you the Tune of Echoes!
You will learn the Tune of Echoes.
Nayru: If you play that tune, you will unlock the powers of the Time Portals found across this land. Step into a Time Portal to travel through time to another age. As you journey, you may learn more tunes that will let you travel through time more freely when you play them. Please, chosen hero, protect this land from the clutches of evil! I am counting on you, unknown hero.
Link will play the Tune of Echoes, and everything will return to normal. Walk outside Nayru's House and the Maku Tree will talk to you again.
Maku Tree: Link, that's the Harp of Ages! Maybe you can use it to open Time Portals and sail through time! The cave has crumbled in this age, but perhaps in the past you can find a way in!
Step on the Time Portal right next to the house and play the Tune of Echoes. Link will appear in the past. From here, go to the Deku Forest (the same place as the Fairies' Woods, but in the past). When you're there, go as far south as you can, then as far west as you can, then as far north as you can, then finally, as far south as you can again. If you go one screen left from here, you should see a small tree. Burn it down with an Ember Seed, then follow the path until you reach a staircase. Go downstairs, cut down the bushes on the right, and go south. Take the stairs when you reach them, then go a bit more south. Get the Mystery Seeds and leave the woods. On your way out you'll be stopped by a guard.
Guard: Those are the Mystery Seeds Queen Ambi has been demanding! Nice work, kid! I'll take you to the palace.
The screen will flash white, and Link will appear at the entrance to the palace.
Guard: Not bad, kid! You found them! Now come with me to meet Queen Ambi!
The guard will escort Link further into the palace.
Guard: Queen Ambi! He says he wishes to pay tribute! He brings the Mystery Seeds your Majesty has been seeking!
Queen Ambi: What have you brought before me?
The guard takes the Mystery Seeds and gives them to Queen Ambi.
Queen Ambi: Mystery Seeds! Nayru desires Mystery Seeds more than anything else! She will be most pleased! By what name do you go, boy? ...Link? I offer a reward, Link. Bring it here...
The other guard will leave, then come back.
Queen Ambi: Link, this is your reward. Take it with great thanks.
The guard will walk over to Link and hand him some bombs.
Queen Ambi: My palace is very large--you will not be able to find the way out alone.
Guard: I shall guide you. Let's go, kid!
They walk off the screen.
Queen Ambi: Will that boy be able to return?
Guard: Yes, Your Majesty!
Nayru will appear.
Nayru (possessed): Link... Hah! You've done well! First you let me through the barrier, now you bring me Mystery Seeds! Such a nice boy! Taking advantage of people's kindness is too easy! This makes one less thing that can obstruct my ambitions. But my, these Mystery Seeds are unpleasant! Their sight and small... Hmph! Anyhow! Queen Ambi... Now, with my powers, the flow of time is yours to command. For you, I shall create a day that never ends, so the people will never sleep, and work on the tower can continue. And when the tower reaches the heavens, you shall go down in history as the greatest queen to ever live!
Queen Ambi: Oh... I shall be known as a great queen... Nayru, Oracle of Ages, give me an endless day, so the people can work without stopping to rest! Young and old alike will work toward my ends!
The guard jumps and runs away. Queen Ambi leaves as well. The screen turns black.
Nayru (possessed): Heh heh heh heh! We are closer to the Age of Shadow! But it's still premature. The true shadow will fall when the Black Tower reaches the heavens and I climb to its highest turret! Then it will come... Heh heh heh... Hah hah hah hah!
Link appears standing outside the palace with two guards.
Guard: Nice work, kid! Ambi was most pleased! You may go now!
Now go back to the woods to the place where the cave collapsed, except in the past. Place a bomb in front of the cracked doorway to blow a hole that leads inside.
Wing Dungeon
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 2 Wing Dungeon". Before proceeding any further, make sure you have a shield. Go forward one room. Once there, use the shield to flip the Spiked Beetles upside-down, then slash them. Once they're all defeated, the door on the left side of the room will open. Go through it. In this room, walk over to the cube, and push it in the following directions: right, right, right, up, left, down, and then left until it's covering the square pit. If done correctly, the red side of the cube will be facing up, the door will open, and you can proceed north one room. Here, move the blocks so that you can access the rest of the room. Now move up a room, and left through two more rooms. In the last room, defeat all the enemies to make a key appear. Pick it up, and go back to the room with the Spiked Beetles. Unlock the door on the right, and continue onward. Use a bomb on the weak section of wall at the south-central part of the room, and go down the stairs in the next room. Make your way through the underground tunnel, and when you come up on the other side you'll be in a room filled with snakes. Defeat them all to make a treasure chest appear. Open it to get a key, then go back to the room where you blew up the wall. Defeat all the snakes and you'll be able to push the block guarding the door out of the way. Unlock the door on the left side of the next room. In the room after that, jump into the train car. When you get off, you'll be in a big room where you'll have to fight a winged creature.
Swoop: One with no wings is no match for me!
To defeat Swoop, wait for it to pound the ground, and at that point, quickly attack it. The ground won't break if Swoop drops on the blue tiles outlining the room, however, it will bounce around a bit. If you fall into one of the holes that are pounded out of the floor, you'll have to start the fight all over again, so watch where you step. After you've defeated the winged demon, a warp will appear. Go through the upper-right door, and down the stairs. Take the south exit out of this room, then, avoiding the pits and projectiles, go through the right door in the next room. Now go up the stairs. You'll appear in a tunnel where you can find Roc's Feather. After finding it, leave the tunnel, and jump over the yellow tile twice in the room where you appear. It will now be red, causing the door to open. Don't stand on the floor surrounding the tile for too long, or it'll collapse. In the next room, avoid the pits to reach the train car, then board it. In the next room, you'll ride by a yellow switch. Hit it as the car drives by. The track will change slightly, and the gate will prevent you from going any further, thus, you'll be able to get off the car in this room. Go to the right wall, and bomb the weak section. Defeat all the enemies in the next room to make a treasure chest appear. Grab the key inside, and go back one room. Walk over to the cube and push it in the following directions: left, down, right, and up until the cube is covering the pit. If you've done it correctly, the blue side will be facing up, and the gate will lift. Jump back in the train car. When you get off, jump over the red tiles to make the pattern look exactly like the one beside it; a yellow vertical line on the left and a blue vertical line on the right. When you've done this, a key will drop into the room. Pick it up and go left a room, then back upstairs. Get to the lower part of this room (by taking the lower-right door in the room where you fought Swoop), then head south. Jump over the pits in this room to reach the red tile. Jump over it twice to make it blue, and the gate will lift. Go back to the room with the two staircases, and unlock the locked block. Jump into the train car. When you get off, go up one room. Whatever you do, don't touch the pot in the upper-right corner of the square. If you have, leave and re-enter this room. Push this pot up five spaces, then jump over the pit and push it all the way over to the wall on the right. Jump over the next pit, and push the pot down two spaces. Jump over the E-shaped pit so you're on the left side of the pot, then push it onto the switch. The door will stay open, allowing you to access the next room. Once there, go south a room. You'll have to push the statues on the right to match the pattern on the left. However, you can only move the statue(s) that match the color of the tile in front of the torch. To start off, it's a good idea to push the yellow statue in the center tile, then move the rest into place. When you've done so, a key will fall into the room. Pick it up, then go north one room and unlock the door on the right. In this room, jump over the center tile to change the color of the entire room. For a second or so after the floor changes colors, you'll be able to see camoflaged enemies that will quickly change color. You can only hit them when they're a different color than the floor, so you'll have to act fast. When they've all been defeated, a treasure chest containing the Boss Key will appear. Grab it, then go back a room and unlock the door at the north side. Make your way to the right side of the next room, and unlock the door. Proceed onward to the next room, then up the stairs.
Boss Fight: Head Thwomp
For this fight it's a good idea to have a bomb equipped on one button, and Roc's Feather on another, so you're not always switching back and forth. All you have to do here is (while avoiding the fireballs) throw a few bombs through the opening at the top of Head Thwamp, but here's the catch: it will only hurt it when the red face is showing. If you throw the bomb in when any other face is showing, you'll be attacked. Also, the more damage Head Thwomp takes, the faster it'll spin. If you're low on health, pick up the hearts that are dropped when you hit the red face, and if you're low on bombs, just dodge fireballs long enough and Head Thwomp will throw out a few. When you've defeated it, it will drop to the floor and disappear. Two ladders exiting the room will appear. Just make sure that if you've only got one hit left, you don't stand directly under Head Thwomp when it drops. Take the right ladder, go right one room, and pick up the Ancient Wood. Once you've done that, the screen will go white, and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will fall down the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: Link! I sense an Essence of Time on the south sea's Crescent Island! Find a way there from the town's coast!
From here, head southeast of Lynna Village to Cheval's House. You'll have to cross a broken bridge by jumping over water to get there. If you can't find it, just head south until you hit the shore, then keep heading east. When inside, talk to Cheval.
Cheval: I am Cheval. I am researching items for use in water. Before I die, I want to finish my work on flippers for swimming and rope that won't decay in water. I hope to aid all the people of the world by inventing such things!
Go outside.
Ralph: Hey, Link! Are you looking for something, or what? Huh? Cheval Rope? I know that name. Yeah! I've seen a grave in our own time that has that name on it. But I don't have time to chat! I'm busy! See ya!
Now go to the present. There's a Time Portal one screen south of the Maku Tree. Once in the present, head for Yoll Graveyard. Once there head east until you see three ghosts surrounding a bear.
Ghost 1: Heh heh! This guy's shocked!
Ghost 2: Let's shock 'im some more!
The bear starts shaking.
Moosh: A g-g-g-ghost! Help!
Ghost 3: Bwee! Why's the weirdo here! Who are you lookin' at?
Ghost 2: We'll shock you, too!
Defeat the ghosts, then talk to the bear.
Moosh: D-don't eat me! I taste awful! ...The ghosts are all gone! Did you chase them away? Thank you! I am Moosh, maybe I can help you out. Climb onto my back.
Link will jump on his back.
Moosh: Tap A to hover, or hold it to charge up for a ground pound. But water is my weakness. The shallow stuff is one thing, but I can't take deep water, so be careful.
Go one screen left and one screen north.
Moosh: I can float if you tap A. If you move as I float, you can float across pits. Try it.
Use Moosh's floating ability to make your way over the pits, to the grave. When there, push the gravestone back and enter the cave. Follow the path until you reach a sign. Jump over the water to the left of the sign, and using the Power Bracelet, pull back the lever. Now quickly make your way up the stairs before the blocks get too close to pass through. Pick up Zora's Flippers. Use them to swim to the northwest part of the cave, where you'll find Cheval Rope. Leave the cave, and head for the graveyard exit. You'll meet Moosh along the way.
Moosh: You found what you were looking for? I'm glad I could help. See you around.
He'll fly away. Go back to the past, and go to Lynna Village. When you're one screen right of the Black Tower, head south until you reach a building. Enter it and talk to the person inside.
Cheval: Hey! That's it! With that Cheval Rope, I could finish my raft! Let me have that rope, please!
OK - Thank you! Tell you what, you can be the first to ride my raft when it's done. But you'll need a chart if you want to go out to sea. Going without a chart is an invitation to disaster. I'll have the raft ready by the time you get a chart.
Sorry - I guess it can't be helped.
Head for Lynna Village and you'll bump into Ralph again.
Ralph: Well, if it isn't Link! Dawdling about, as usual. What are you doing? Huh? You need an Island Chart? I've heard that wierd guy has sea charts to the secret isle. Do what you want! I'm too busy trying to save Nayru to help you! See ya! NAYRU!!!
Head once again to the present. Make your way to the graveyard and you'll meet a kangaroo along the way. Talk to him.
Ricky: Hoh... I'm Ricky. Usually, I can clear holes and cliffs with my patented jump... But I'm not in such a good mood right now... You see... I lost my precious gloves... I think I left them by the tree on the beach, but I can't seem to find them.
Go south to the beach. Locate the tree, then dig under a pile of dirt to the right of it. Pick up the gloves and give them to Ricky.
Ricky: Hey! My gloves! You found them! Thanks! Now I'll help you find what you're looking for! Hop into my pocket!
Link will jump into his pocket.
Ricky: Press A to punch, or build power to unleash a tornado. I can also jump small holes or cliffs.
Move one screen south and one screen west.
Ricky: A cliff like this is one leap. I'll jump if you move up to it. Try it.
Jump up the cliff and follow the path.
Ricky: If you move toward a hole, I'll just jump right over. I can clear one hole easy. Give it a try.
Jump over the hole, then go up. Leave Ricky's pouch, then jump up and pop Tingle's balloon. Talk to him.
Tingle: What's this? Green clothes... Sir, are you smitten with forest fairies? My name is Tingle, the one and only! I am a true fairy! The villagers say that at 35, I should open my eyes... But I say Tingle is the very reincarnation of a fairy! How'd you like Tingle the fairy for a friend?
Sure - Then from today, you and Tingle are friends!
No way - ...I see! I hope you won't regret it! Tingle, Tingle! Kooloo-Limpah! ...These are the magic words that Tingle created myself. Don't steal them!
(After choosing "Sure")
Tingle: Yes! Yes! As a sign of our friendship, Tingle will give you his chart that shows the way to the secret island!
You will get the Island Chart.
Tingle: Come back here any time you wish to see Tingle. If you get more Mystical Seeds, something good may happen! Tingle, Tingle! Kooloo-Limpah! ...These are the magic words that Tingle created myself. Don't steal them!
Ricky: I guess you found what you were after... This is just between you and me, but I can't stand this guy, so I'll see you later!
He'll hop away. Go back to the past and talk to Cheval again.
Cheval: Hey! What took you so long? My raft is ready! Come over here!
Go outside through the right door and hop on the raft. Head up and right. Eventually, Link will run into a storm, and his raft will be struck by lightning. He'll appear on an island, surrounded by green creatures who steal all his items and run away. First, head as far south as you can, and talk to the creature with the shovel.
Tokay: I found this by the sea. It was next to a Tokay with no tail. Hey! You don't have a tail, either. ...Ohh. Is this... Um, take this. I... I don't need it.
You will get the shovel back.
Tokay: That's all I picked up, but maybe other Tokay took stuff, too. But maybe not. Maybe you should look around.
Now go north and enter the first cave you see. Talk to the creature with the sword.
Tokay: Hey! You're the one who I... Um, I'm glad you came. I was thinking maybe I should hide--I mean maybe I should go give this back to you. Here!
You will get the sword back.
Tokay: That's all I picked up, but maybe other Tokay took other stuff, too. But maybe not. Maybe you should look around.
Go one screen left and push the green bulb in front of the indentation in the wall. Now head for the northeast corner of the island to find a little hut. Enter it, and trade your shovel for the Power Bracelet. Head south a little bit and you'll see a staircase blocked by a rock (on the same screen is another hut with a Time Portal in front of it). Make your way to that rock, move it out of the way, and go down the stairs. Go up the next staircase and pick up some bombs. Make your way back towards the trader's hut. One screen before you reach it, you will find a staircase leading to a cracked wall. Use a bomb on the wall and go inside. Talk to the Tokay inside, and agree to play the game. If you win, you'll get a scent seedling. Head north, and you'll find a Tokay who will plant the seedling for you.
Tokay: This is our precious tree nursery. They say a Scent Tree was planted here long ago. If I has a seedling, I could plant it here. Hey! Is that a Scent Seedling? Let's plant it!
The Tokay will plant the seedling.
Tokay: ...Huh? What's wrong? It's not like it's gonna get big right away. It takes a long, long time for a seed to become a tree. Don't worry. I'll take care of it, so come back after a long, long time.
Go back to the trader's hut and trade the Power Bracelet for Roc's Feather. Look for a cracked wall in the central part of the island (the same screen where you got the shovel), and blow it up. Using Roc's Feather and some bombs, make your way over to the Tokay holding the flippers. Talk to it.
Tokay: Hey! You're the one who I... Um, I'm glad you came. I was thinking maybe I should hide--I mean maybe I should go give this back to you. Here!
You will get the flippers back.
Tokay: That's all I picked up, but maybe other Tokay took stuff, too. But maybe not. Maybe you should look around.
Go back to the trader's hut, and get the Power Bracelet. Then head back to the cave where you got the flippers, and dive in the deep water in the northwest corner of the cave. When you come out of the tunnel, head upstairs, then left to find a Tokay with your Seed Satchel. Talk to it.
Tokay: Hey! You're the one who I... Um, I'm glad you came. I was thinking maybe I should hide--I mean maybe I should go give this back to you. Here!
You will get the Seed Satchel back.
Tokay: That's all I picked up, but maybe other Tokay took stuff, too. But maybe not. Maybe you should look around.
Go back to the trader's hut and trade ten Mystery Seeds for Roc's Feather. Now go southeast and through the cave to reach the Tokay with the Harp of Ages. Talk to it.
Tokay: Hey! You're the one who I... Um, I'm glad you came. I was thinking maybe I should hide--I mean maybe I should go give this back to you. Here!
You will get the Harp of Ages back.
Tokay: That's all I picked up, but maybe other Tokay took stuff, too. But maybe not. Maybe you should look around.
Head to the eastern shore and look for a Time Portal. When you find it, go to the present. Make your way to the place where you planted the seedling. Along the way, a Tokay will talk to you.
Tokay: Hey! You! Listen to me! It takes a long time for trees to grow. The same goes for that vine you climbed down.
When you reach the full-grown tree, take some Scent Seeds. Travel back in time and go to the trading post. When you have your shovel (and Power Bracelet) back, go to the present. You must do so through the Time Portal at the very southwest corner of the island, next to the Tokay who had the Harp of Ages. Follow the path north and you will find yourself at the next level.
Moonlit Grotto
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 3 Moonlit Grotto". Go up a room and defeat all the enemies. The door on the right will open. Go through it, and break the crystal. The message "There was a loud sound far off, like something being knocked loose!" will appear. Go up another room, then right (as if you have a choice). In this room, move as far right as you can, and bomb the cracked block where the fourth statue should be. Toss another bomb behind the small green wall to blow up another block. Move tot he north side of the room, and push down the block that lines up with the crystal. Throw a bomb over the green wall, then move to the south part of the room and push the single block up. Destroy the crystal and the message "There was a loud sound far off, like something being knocked loose!" will appear. Push the block next to the crystal up, and push the statue into place. A key will drop from the ceiling. Pick it up, then go back to the second room. Unlock the door, and go through it. Go right one room, and move through the turnstile. Now loop around the dungeon by going back into the room that was just locked. Make sure you don't go through the turnstile, but rather around the dungeon. When you reach the turnstile again, you'll be able to move north. Go right in the next room. Step on the switch in the top-right corner and all the Armos' will come to life. Destroy them with bombs. When you've done so, you'll recieve another key. Take it and go back to the first locked room. Fall down the hole. Head south and destroy the Mini Moldorm. Head south again, and defeat all the enemies. Go up, but through the left door. Use a bomb (or two) on the Mini Moldorm, and head south through the left door. Go left in this room. In the next room, use a bomb on the crystal switch to bring the Armos to life. Run upstairs and turn left. Push the top three blocks (from left to right) left, up, and right. A key will fall from the ceiling. Go back downstairs, and move north until you see a staircase. Once upstairs, destroy the crystal. The message "There was a loud sound far off, like something being knocked loose!" will appear. Push the block second from the bottom forward and go right. Then move as far north as you can. You'll end up in a room where tiles lift off the floor and fly at you. When all the tiles are destroyed, both doors will open. Go through the left one. Work your way to the north part of the left side of the room and unlock the door. In the next room, go through the left door. Defeat all the enemies and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to find the Seed Shooter. Go back a room and load the shooter with an Ember Seed. Light the torch, and the door will open. Go back to the room with the last crystal and destroy it with a seed. The message "There was a loud sound far off, like something being knocked loose!" will appear. Then the screen will shake some more and the message "It sounds like something heavy fell down below!" will appear. Go down a room, then turn left and fall into the pit. Move right, then south and work your way around the dungeon. The next time you come across the turnstile, you'll be able to move north. Move north one more time, and you'll have to fight Subterror.
Subterror: As long as I'm underground, your attacks don't scare me!
To defeat this creature, you'll need to use the shovel. Dig when Subterror is right next to you. If done right, it will pop out from underground. Hit it as many times as you can until it dives back under. Repeat this patter to win. When you do, a warp will appear, and the door on the left will open. Go through it, then move north a room. Defeat all the enemies, then push the out-of-place block left to make a key fall from the ceiling. Pick it up, go back to the turnstile, (at which point you'll move left a room), then head north. Hit the crystal switch until the spinner is positioned to that it's slanted down from left to right. Shoot a seed at it, and if done correctly, it will ricochet and hit the switch. A bridge will form, allowing you to move to the right side of the room. Cross it and go through the locked door. Here, position the spinner so that it's sloping down from left to right, and shoot a seed at it to hit the switch. If you hit it, a bridge will form. Cross it, and position the spinner so that it's sloping downwards from right to left. Hit the switch again, cross the bridge, and move up a room. Push the block that's out of alignment right and head for the turnstile. You'll now be able to enter the room on the right. Step on the switch until the two spinners are sloping down from right to left. Shoot a seed at the switch and the door will open. Open the treasure chest in the next room to get the Boss Key. Keep moving left and up until you reach an unlocked door. Open it, and move into the next room. A shadow will move across the floor, and a ghost-like creature will appear.
Shadow Hag: Hya hya hya! You cannot see who I am, for I am your shadow!
Boss Fight: Shadow Hag
Shadow Hag will split into four shadows. Do your best to avoid them until they all come together. When Shadow Hag actually appears, run away and shoot a seed. If she's right behind you, the seed will ricochet off the wall (it will pass right through you) and hit her, but she can't be too far back or she'll dodge it, so your timing will have to be perfect. Repeat this until you win. Then move left and pick up the Echoing Howl. Once you've done that, the screen will go white, and show Queen Ambi and Nayru in the palace.
Queen Ambi: Ambi's Tower will soon be complete!
(Cuts to a far-away view of the tower, showing just how big it is.)
Queen Ambi: Once Ambi's Tower is done, history shall remember me as the greatest of queens!
The camera pans up on the incomplete tower. The screen goes white, and Link appears in front of a black background. Leaves fall down the screen and the Maku Tree talks to you.
Maku Tree: Link! You have the Echoing Howl! But things are not going well. The Black Tower is nearing completion in the past. Terrible things will happen if you don't hurry. I hear an essence echoing from the peaks northwest of Lynna City. Can you go?
Follow the path and eventually you'll come to two Tokay next to a red creature.
Tokay 1: This huge fish washed ashore! It looks fresh and tasty!
Tokay 2: Red fish has a very exciting flavor.
Dimitri: Dee! Dee!
Talk the Tokay standing to the left of the creature.
Tokay 1: We found this red fish. We're dying to savor its exciting flavor. Hey! What are those red seeds you have? Ember Seeds? What an exciting name! Will you trade Ember Seeds for our fish?
Sure - It's a deal! I can't wait to taste it!
(Each Tokay eats an Ember Seed.)
Tokay 1: Crack! Munch, munch! ................ !!!
(Each Tokay gets burned.)
Tokay: HOT!!! HOT!!!
They run away.
No way - Then I guess this red fish will have to do.
After choosing "Sure", talk to the red fish.
Dimitri: I was almost eaten! I'm Dimitri. I can swim in the sea. Are you going somewhere? I can give you a ride.
Link will jump on his back.
Dimitri: I chomp when you press A. And I swim like a fish--even up waterfalls. You can even carry me using the Power Bracelet.
Cross the water by going north (and left) until you reach land.
Dimitri: We're here! You go alone now. Bye!
He swims away. Now head just left of Lynna City. When you see the waterfall go north. Hit the small tree blocking the switch with an Ember Seed, then hit the switch with another seed. A bridge will appear over the water. Cross over to the other side. Keep following the path until you come across the head carpenter.
Head Carpenter: Those lazy, worthless fools! Just as we're buildin' this bridge to the Symmetry City Ruins, they go off on break! I wait and I wait, but they don't come back! We'll never get the bridge done at this rate! I'd go find 'em but the terrain 'round here is too rough! A man can't navigate it on his own! Pahh! What a fix!
Start heading back towards the bridge and you'll come across a fairy from the woods.
Fairy 1: Mister! I found you! Listen! It's a mess! A big, winged, bearlike animal got lost in our forest and can't get out! We were playin' a little trick... But now it'll never get out! Can you help us find it? Do you get our problem?
Yes - Hurry! I'll wait at the forst entrance south of here!
No - Listen! It's a mess! ...
The animal that the fairy mentions will differ depending on how you get the flute. According what I've written, your animal will be Moosh. Head to the Fairies' Woods and the fairy will talk to you again.
Fairy: Wait, Mister! This way!
Go south and follow the path until you are on a screen with all three fairies around a tree. At this point, go north, south, north. You will now find the missing animal. Talk to it.
Moosh: I'm back in the same spot. I'm so hungry. I can't move. Oh! You chased away ghosts...
A fairy appears.
Fairy: Mister! You found it! OK. We'll take you to the edge of the forest. Yah!
(Link is transported outside the woods.)
Fairy 1: You won't get lost here!
Fairy 2: Sorry! We didn't mean it! But seeking is more fun than hiding!
Fairy 3: Really! I want to do it again!
Fairy 1: Next time will be harder!
Fairy 2: Come play with us again, OK? Goodbye!
They all fly away.
Moosh: Thank you for helping me out. You haven't told me your name. Please tell me. Link... That's easy to remember. First the graveyard, now this... You are always helping me out, Link. I must help you in your adventures, too, Link, so take this flute. Play that flute when you need me. I'll come if I hear it.
You will get the flute.
Moosh: You want to go north, right. OK, climb onto my back.
Link will jump on his back. Now that you have your animal, talk to the head carpenter again.
Head Carpenter: Those lazy, worthless fools! Just as we're buildin' this bridge to the Symmetry City Ruins, they go off on break! I wait and I wait, but they don't come back! C'mon, buddy. Can you go find those slackers for me?
Sure - Thanks, buddy!
Sorry - Then scram! Lazy kid!
(After choosing "Sure")
Head Carpenter: I guess you'll be off, then! If you can get all three of those slackers back here, we can get to work on this bridge. But the terrain around here is too rough, so you can't manage it on your own. OK?
OK
What? - If you can get all three of...
After choosing "OK", you have to find the three carpenters. The landscape will be different depending on what animal you're using. If you're using Moosh, first go right and fly over three of the four pits. Land on the stairway and fly over the remaining pits to find the first carpenter. If you're using Dimitri, go south, right, and up the first waterfall you see. If you're using Ricky, move south until you hit the blue border, then turn right and jump up onto the cliff. Move north to find the first carpenter.
Carpenter: Huh? The boss? But I wanted to hang out a while longer... But I can head back...
If you have Moosh, go back to the stairway and fly right over the fourth pit. Move right and you'll come across more pits to fly over. Once you've gone as far as you can go, move south as far as you can, then left. You'll eventually find yourself at a stairway that leads to the next carpenter. If you're using Dimitri, go down the waterfall, then as far right as you can. If you're using Ricky, jump back off the cliff, then go as far north as you can. Once on that cliff, go right until you're at a tree surrounded by flowers and bushes, then go south.
Carpenter: Huh? The boss? But I wanted to hang out a while longer... But I can head back...
If you're using Moosh, fly back to the four pits that you crossed over to reach the first carpenter. Instead of crossing them, head north, then fly over the pits on the left, and go up the ladder. Walk as far north as you can, then go right and you'll see a stairway. Go down the stairway and fly over the pits to reach the last carpenter. If you're using Dimitri, simply go north from the little island you're on, and up the waterfall. If you're using Ricky, go north back to the tree, then as far right as possible (you'll be at another tree). From here, head south. Clear the bushes out of the way, then jump up onto the last cliff.
Carpenter: Huh? The boss? But I wanted to hang out a while longer... But I can head back...
(The screen fades and Link appears at the bridge with all the carpenters.)
Head Carpenter: Hah hah! They're finally here! They were just late! Well, get to work! No more breaks until the bridge is done!
Carpenters: Yesss, boss...
(They complete the bridge.)
Carpenters: We're done, boss!
Head Carpenter: What? You're already done? I guess you fools can work! But no time for breaks now! On to the next job!
Carpenters: Yesss, boss...
They all walk away. Cross the bridge and go up the stairs. Turn left and cut down the bush closest to you to find a Time Portal. Stand on it and play the Tune of Echoes. Enter the building and talk to one of the women.
Woman: Help! Help! The Tuni Nut is broken! What? Will you listen to my problem?
Yes - The closer the Black Tower gets to completion, the stranger this city gets.
No - What? Why not?
(After choosing "Yes")
Woman: When the Tuni Nut broke, the city fell out of balance, and the volcano started erupting. The Tuni Nut is the city's symbol. We dutifully worshipped this nut. The rules of Symmetry City require that left and right be in perfect balance! But the Tuni Nut at the center of the city is broken! Symmetry City is all out of balance. If we don't get the Tuni Nut fixed and put back, Symmetry City will be destroyed by the eruptions. Do you understand?
Yes - I've given the broken Tuni Nut to my husdband, but he can't climb Restoration Wall.
No - Weren't you listening? Then I'll explain it again! The closer...
Leave and talk to one of the men in one of the buildings at the northern end of the city.
Man: Oww... I was injured by a rock that shot out in the eruption... If you want the Tuni Nut, go see my brother across town.
Visit the man in the house on the opposite side of the city.
Man
: The closer the Black Tower gets to completion, the stranger this city gets. When the Tuni Nut broke, the city fell out of balance, and the volcano started erupting. I want to take the Tuni Nut to Patch's place... But I can't leave the city alone. This is Symmetry City! Left and right have to be in perfect balance! My brother is too hurt to move, so I can't move either. If one brother goes somewhere, the balance between left and right will be lost. But someone has to go... Hey! You can ignore the rules and leave the city! Can you take the Tuni Nut to Patch?
Yes - Really? Thank you! I'll leave this to you!
No - I just thought I'd ask...
(After choosing "Yes")
Man: Patch lives at the top of Restoration Wall to the south! After you get the Tuni Nut fixed, take it to the house in the middle of the city and place it on the pedestal.
You will get the Tuni Nut. Go down the stairs at the left side of the city. Move left a screen, then go up the next two sets of stairs. Move to the deep water at the top right corner of the screen and dive underwater. When you come out on the other end, talk to Tokkey.
Tokkey: I am Tokkey. I research time. After many years of research, I'm one step away from perfecting a tune that lets one move forward in time, but it seems I've hit a roadblock. "Echoes produce waves..." What could it mean?
Play the Tune of Echoes.
Tokkey: That's the Tune of Echoes! That's the tone my research lacked! It has answered my remaining questions! Now I can finish my tune!
He will run back and forth while writing a song.
Tokkey: Ye of many tunes, I grant you a new tune! Time flows on when you play the Tune of Currents! When you play this tune, you'll immediately drift back to your own time! If you are in a place from which you cannot reach your own time, you'll return to the past.
You will learn the Tune of Currents. Go all the way back down the two stairways, then as far left as you can. When you can't go any further, stay on the bottom left part of the screen and play the Tune of Currents. Go as far south as you can, then as far right as you can, then up the stairs. Lift the rock, stand on the Time Portal, and play the Tune of Echoes. Go down the stairs and push the bulb over to the indentation in the wall on the right side of the screen. Then go back up the stairs and into the cave. Go up the stairs, then leave through the right exit. Once outside, push the block over to the left. Go all the way back downstairs, and once outside, play the Tune of Currents. Go down the stairs and climb the vine. Keep following the path and eventually you'll come to another Time Portal. Stand on it and play the Tune of Echoes. Follow the path the exact same way you just came, and when you get to the pond, go down the stairs. Keep following the path and you'll come to Restoration Wall. When you make it up to the top, go inside the cave and talk to Patch.
Patch: I haven't had any visitors in some time. I am Patch, the restoration guru. Did you need me?
Yes - Heh, heh! I see.
No - You must have time to kill if you came all the way here.
(After choosing "Yes")
Patch: You want me to repair that Tuni Nut. My Restoration Ceremony might fix it. ...Want to try?
Yes - You are willing to try? Very well. Follow me. Heh, heh!
No - Then that Tuni Nut will never be restored...
After choosing "Yes", follow him upstairs and talk to him. Agree to play his game. When you defeat all the enemies, he will talk to you.
Patch: Hmm... Eh, heh! My ceremony succeeded! You are talented. You got through this trap--err, ceremony. Here is your Tuni Nut, as good as new! As usual, I am perfect! Here you go.
You will get the Tuni Nut.
Patch: Bring me anything else that needs fixing, and I'll prepare my trap--err, ceremony!
Go back to Symmetry City and put the Tuni Nut on the altar in the center building. Go back outside and play the Tune of Currents. Now that you're in the present, head north to where the volcano used to be. Go inside.
Skull Dungeon
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 4 Skull Dungeon". Go up one room, then left a room. Defeat all the enemies and the door on the left side of the room will open. Go through it. Jump across the lava pit to leave this room, then follow the path in the next room to come back out on the opposite side of the previous room. Go south one more room. Jump over the lava pit and push the block down two spaces. Then push it right one space, down three spaces, left one space, up one space, and left two more spaces. If done correctly, the blue side of the die will be facing up, the torches will light up, and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to find a key. Now go right for as many rooms as possible. Eventually you'll get stuck in a room full of lava and blocks. Using Roc's Feather to jump over the lava pits, make your way to the middle of the room. Push the block next to you over to the left, then jump across the lava and push the block beside you to the right. Unlock the door and continue on. Pass through the next room. Jump into the cart and it'll take you to a room with a moving crystal switch. Shoot a seed at it. When you hit it, a treasure chest with a key inside will appear. Take it and leave. On the way back, hit the first switch you see and the track will change so that the cart will stop in the room you're in. Unlock the door and pass through the next room. In the next room, jump over the lava pit and go north. In the room after that, pull back the lever as far as you can. The lava will turn into solid rock for a second. Use this opportunity to reach the exit. Defeat all the enemies in the next room and the door will open. Move through the next room. In this room, jump over the red blocks on the left so that they look like the pattern on the right. When you've done this, the door will open. Go through it. When you enter the next room, run or you'll be hit. To reach the cube, move into the way of the blades, then quickly run around the north one. Push the block two spaces down, five spaces left, and two more spaces down. Jump into the cart. When you get off, go right one room. Jump on the moving platform and shoot a seed at the crystal switch. When you hit it a treasure chest will appear. Open it to recieve a key. Now go left two rooms. (Go into the second room by foot, not by cart.) Unlock the locked block and jump over the red square until it turns blue. Go back a room and jump into the cart leading to the room you were just in. It will take you to a room where the track will wind back and forth three times. During this time, shoot seeds at the Stalfos'. When they're all defeated, the door at the end of the track will open. Go through it. Get over the lava pit by jumping onto the moving platforms. When you've cleared the pit, go south. Jump over the red blocks so they look like the pattern above them, and a key will drop from the ceiling. Pick it up and go back a room. Unlock the block and jump into the cart. When you finally get off, go left a room. A creature will fall into the middle of the room.
Armos Warrior: My mighty sword and mighty shield shall crush you!
The warrior's sword will fly up into the air. Keep following the warrior around the room so that when the sword flies at you, it will hit it. After a three hits, the warrior's shield will break.
Armos Warrior: NO! My mighty sword is broken... You'll pay for this!!!
At this point, the Armos Warrior will charge at you. To make the fight easier, dodge it, and as it bounces back off a wall, hit it and run away. After a few more hits, the warrior will be no more and a warp will appear. Exit the room to the south, then climb the stairs. Go down a room, then cross the bridge. Go right again. Blow up the cracked wall and go through the hole. In this room, you'll have to walk over the blocks in a certain way. There are many ways to do it, but I'm only writing down one. From the entrance, move left one space, up one space, right two spaces, up one space, left two spaces, up four spaces (to the wall), right one space, down two spaces, right one space, down one space, right one space, up three spaces (to the wall), right five spaces (to the wall), down two spaces, left one space, down two spaces, right one space, down two spaces, left five spaces (to the statue), up one space, right one space, up one space, right one space, down one space, right one space, up four spaces, left two spaces, down one space, right one space, and down one space. If done correctly, a treasure chest will appear. Inside is the Switch Hook. Take it and exit to the left. Use the Switch Hook on the diamond block to cross the pit. Go down the stairs and through the door, then right. Instead of jumping in the cart, go up the stairs. Use the Switch Hook to cross the path, then go down and right. In this room, hit the diamond block to cross the lava pit, then stand on the switch. Use the Switch Hook on the next diamond block to hold the switch down. Leave the room and follow the path until you come to a staircase. Go downstairs, then go up one room. Clear out the enemies, then stand in between the two blocks. Use the Switch Hook on the diamond switch, then use it again on the jar. Move beside the diamond block and switch places with it. Stand close to (but not on) the switch and switch places with it again. Move right next to the diamond block and switch places with it again. Now stand on the left side of the switch and hit the diamond block with the Switch Hook. Move onto the switch and switch places one last time. Leave the room. Go through the next room, then down the stairs. Keep switching places with the jars to cross the lava pit. In the next room, jump over the center tile repeatedly to see the enemies, then hit them. When you've defeated them all, the doors to this room will open. Go through the left door. Make your way across the next room. In the room after that, you'll once again have to move over the floor in a certain way. One way to do it is go move left two spaces, up one space, right two spaces, up one space, left one space, up one space, right one space, up one space, left two spaces, down one space, left one space, up one space, left nine spaces (to the wall), down two spaces, right three spaces, up one space, right one space, down one space, right two spaces, up one space, right two spaces, down one space, right one space, down three spaces, right three spaces, down three spaces (to the wall), left two spaces, up two spaces, left one space, down two spaces, left two spaces, up one space, left one space, down one space, left one space, up one space, left one space, down one space, left four spaces (to the wall), up one space, right two spaces, up one space, left two spaces, up one space, right one space, up two spaces, right one space, down two spaces, right one space, down one space, right one space, up one space, right one space, down one space, right three spaces, up one space, left one space, up one space, right one space, up one space, left five spaces, down one space, and right three spaces. A treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a key. Now go north a room. Jump on the moving platform and switch places with the diamond block. Jump onto the next moving block, and then over the lava. Go up the stairs. Use the Switch Hook and Roc's Feather to get through the tunnel, then climb up the ladder. Unlock the block and go left. Use the Switch Hook to get across the pit, then continue moving left. Pull the lever at the bottom of the stairs as far back as possible, then run across the lava pit before it turns liquid again. In the next room, pull the lever back and pick up the first jar. Keep using the Switch Hook on the jars until you're at the end. Jump over the last pit and go up one more room. In this room, go up the stairs and jump over to the ledge in front of the pot. Then jump between the two pots. Push the second pot over to the right, then use the Switch Hook to reach the pot above you. Push the pot above the blue square down two spaces. Now use the Switch Hook to hit the pot on the north side of the room from the right. Push the pot next to it onto the switch. A treasure chest will appear. Switch places with the pot on the other side of the lava pit, then jump off the ledge. Climb back up the stairs, and jump in between the first two pots. Switch places with the pot to the north and open the treasure chest. Inside is the Boss Key. Go back downstairs and open the locked door.
Boss Fight: Eyesoar
Try to hit Eyesoar with the Switch Hook. When you do, the small eyes surrounding it will fly around. Keep hitting Eyesoar until they fly back around it. Repeat this pattern until you've won. Go north a room and pick up the Burning Flame. Once you've done that, the screen will go white and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will fall down the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: I am remembering more and more. The ridge north of Nayru's House must be related to the essences.
You'll have to go to the past once again. Just to be convenient, use the Time Portal next to Nayru's House. Once in the past, move left a screen and jump over the pit. Move north, then use the Switch Hook to cross the next set of pits. Play the Tune of Currents to warp to the present. Enter the cave and make your way to the exit at the top. Once outside, keep walking right and eventually you'll come to a rock next to a cave. Pick it up to find a Time Portal, then warp to the past. Walk left all the way back, then go up the stairs to find a tree with Pegasus Seeds growing on it. Take them and to to the present. Go to the right until you see a big set of stairs and climb them. Go into the palace and use the Pegasus Seeds once inside to make it to the stairs before the floor collapses. Go all the way upstairs and you'll have to fight the Great Moblin.
Great Moblin: Who enters my fine keep so impertinently? Heh! I got it! You've come to steal the Bomb Flowers I'm collecting, haven't you? It won't happen, you pilfering thief! Don't think I'll let you out alive!
To defeat the Great Moblin, all you'll need is some good timing. He and his two cohorts will toss bombs at you. All you have to do is pick up the big bomb that the Great Moblin tosses at you and throw it back at him. You'll have to time your throw so that it explodes before he has a chance to throw it back. After a few hits, victory will be yours. Link, the Great Moblin, and his two buddies will appear outside the palace.
Great Moblin: Noooooo! It can't be! Why Meeeeeee?!?
They all run away and some Gorons appear.
Goron: I don't know who you are or where you're from, but thank you for getting rid of the Great Moblin. That wretch was keeping us from growing Bomb Flowers. Now we can grow Bomb Flowers without any worries! Take one as a sign of our thanks.
You will get a Bomb Flower.
Goron: Now that I think about it, long ago a young boy saved the Goron Elder... Maybe you can be like that boy! We won't get pushed around the next time a guy like the Great Moblin comes around! Thanks!
They walk away. Link appears in front of a black background. Leaves fall down the screen and the Maku Tree talks to you.
Maku Tree: Link, your name has appeared in old Goron tales! Their legends tell of a great hero who saved the Gorons in their hour of need. What could this mean?
Warp to the past and jump off the mountain. Go inside the cave on the other end of all the holes that you needed the Switch Hook to get past and walk towards the big pile of rocks.
Goron: Hey! Is that one of the legendary Bomb Flowers? You can't fool me! That's the unmistakable smell of a Bomb Flower! Listen! Please let me have that Bomb Flower!
OK - Thank you! Now we can save the Elder!
No way - Without that Bomb Flower, the Elder will die. Please let me have it!
After choosing "OK", the Goron will walk over to the pile of rocks, place the Bomb Flower in front of it, and clear them out.
Goron Elder: Huh? What's wrong, brothers? Were you worried about me? Ah ha ha ha ha! A rock that size can't hurt me! Ah ha ha ha ha!
(Link walks over to the Goron Elder.)
Goron Elder: Did you bring us the Bomb Flower? Sorry to trouble you. This is the shiny key I found on Northern Peak. I never found the keyhole, so I'll give this to you.
You will get the Crown Key.
Goron Elder: We shall take good care of the Bomb Flowers you brought us. We shall fill the peaks with them!
Go all the way to the top of the cave an exit. Go to where the palace was, warp to the present, and go into the cave (not the stairs). Use Pegasus Seeds to make you run and then Roc's Feather to jump over the pits to get through this cave. When you emerge on the other side, move left a screen and unlock the door. It will come out of the ground a bit, and you will be able to go inside.
Crown Dungeon
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 5 Crown Dungeon". Walk forward a screen and defeat all the enemies in that room. The door at the northern side of the room will open. Go through it. Go left two rooms and up one room after that. Defeat all the enemies and a staircase will appear. Walk down the stairs and jump over the pit in the room you come out in. Use the Switch Hook to move the diamond block onto the switch to hold the door open. Go into the next room and go up the stairs. (Leave the treasure chest.) Go south a few rooms until you reach a crystal switch. Hit it to make the blue blocks go down. Move right and you'll come to a room with three statues. Pull out the Seed Shooter and hit all three statues in one shot. There are many places you can stand to do this, but the easiest is under the two pots in the top left corner of the room, about halfway between the two. When you've finally hit all three statues, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a key. Leave the room and head back toward the staircase. Hit the crystal switch to lower the red blocks, then hit it again with any projectile attack when on the other side of the red blocks to raise them. Cross the bridge of now-lowered blue blocks to get to the room north of the one you're in, then go down the stairs. Open the treasure chest to get a key, then go back upstairs. Head right for a bit and you'll eventually get stuck behind red blocks with a crystal switch just behind them. Hit it using the Seed Shooter, then hit it again to lower the blue blocks. Step over the blue blocks and make your way around the wall until you're on the other side of the raised red blocks to the south. Go down one more room and unlock the door on the left. Go through it, then down the stairs. In this room, use Ember Seeds from the Seed Shooter to light all the torches. When you've done so, the door will open. In the next room, arrange the statues so they match the pattern of the one that appears when you step on the switch. In case you have a bad memory, here's what you have to do. Place a yellow statue two spaces above the brown square. Place a blue statue two spaces below the brown square. Place a yellow statue to the left of the square, and a red one to the right. Place the remaining blue statue above the red one on the right, and the remaining red statue beneath the yellow one on the left. When you've done so, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to recieve the Cane of Somaria. Go back upstairs and in the room with the staircase, place the three statues on the three switches. Use the Cane of Somaria to create a block on the remaining switch. A treasure chest containing a key will appear. Get it and head back to the crystal switch two rooms north of the entrance. Hit it to lower the red blocks and go right a screen. Go down the stairs enclosed by the now-lowered set of red blocks. In this room, step on the first row of blocks and hit the crystal switch. Move over one space and hit the crystal switch again. Go down the stairs in the next room and make your way through the tunnel. When you climb the ladder, you'll come to a room with an invisible floor. Use the Cane of Somaria to find the path to the treasure chest. Just to make it easier, here's the path you'll need to take: when standing on the lower right corner of the platform, move four spaces right, four spaces down, one space left, two spaces down, two spaces left, one space down, six spaces left, three spaces up, and four spaces right. Grab the key, then use the Switch Hook to easily get back down the stairs. Make your way back to the crystal switch two rooms north of the entrance and hit it to raise the red blocks. Walk past the stairs you just came up through and go south to reach a staircase once enclosed by blue blocks. Move the pots in the next room out of the way, then go down the next staircase. Make it through the tunnel by using the Cane of Somaria and Roc's Feather. When you're upstairs, use the Seed Shooter to hit the crystal switch. Go past the red blocks, then hit the crystal switch to get past the blue blocks. In the next room you'll have to move the two statues onto the two red squares. When you push the statues, you'll notice that they seem to be connected by an invisible force. To counter this, push one of the statues onto one of the squares, then create a block to prevent that statue from moving as you push the other statue towards the other red square. When both statues are on both squares, a treasure chest with a key inside will appear. Open it and go back down the stairs in the previous room. Before you do so, however, make sure the blue blocks are lowered. When you're back in the room with the staircase surrounded by blue blocks, go up a room, then move right. Jump over the pits and unlock the door. In the next room you'll have to fight Smasher. Do defeat it, pick up the ball it tosses at you and toss it back at the creature. Once you have the ball, don't hesitate to throw it for too long or it will disappear and reappear on the other side of the room. When it's defeated, a warp will appear and the doors will open. Go north and place a block on the switch to keep the bridge from disappearing. Cross it and go down the stairs. When you come out the other side of the tunnel, go up the next set of stairs. In the next room, stand on the blue blocks and hit the crystal switch. Walk over the raised blocks one room left, then get off them by moving south. In the next room, unlock the locked block and follow the red blocks. Unlock the block in the room they lead you to and hit the crystal switch. When the red blocks are raised, climb the ladder at the bottom right corner of the room. When you've done that, jump off onto the red blocks, then move a room right and jump off up onto the blue blocks. Go down the staircase in the next room. Use the crystal switch to reach the locked door and go through it. Make sure the blue blocks are lowered before you do. Go down the staircase and through the tunnel. In the next room, you have to move all the statues onto the brown square. There's no order in which the statues have to be placed, but here's what I find easy: push the yellow statues three spaces left so each one is on a square. Push the red statues up one space and the blue statues right one space. Put a block next to the red statue that's already on a square and push the other one into the bottom center. Now all you have to do is push the remaining blue statues into place. When you've done that, a treasure chest will appear. Get the Boss Key inside, then go back to the crystal switch two rooms north of the entrance. Hit it to lower the red blocks, then move two screens right, two screens down, and two more screens right. When you're in the last room, Smog will talk to you.
Smog: It's time for our little game! I break apart. If you can force me back together and blow me away, it ends! But before you do, I shall take a bit of your soul!!! Now begin!
It breaks apart into two smaller clouds and they both disappear. Link is lifted up, transported to the center of the room and blocks begin to appear. The two clouds appear following the perimeter of those blocks.
Boss Fight: Smog
Use the Cane of Somaria to create a block in the middle of the the two sets of blocks to get the two clouds to collide. When they do, they'll form back into one big cloud. Hit it a few times and it will disappear. Link will be transported to the top middle of the screen and three sets of blocks will appear, each with a cloud going around them. Place a block on the right side of the left set of blocks (next to the middle block) to get the left and middle clouds to collide. Get the cloud onto the middle set of blocks by creating a new block next to the old block when Smog is going around it. Place another block on the right side of the middle set of blocks (next to the top block) to get the two clouds to collide. When Smog reappears in its full form, hit it a few times. It will disappear and Link will once again be transported to the top middle part of the screen. More blocks with more clouds surrounding them will appear. Push the top block one space left and the bottom block one space right. Create a block bridging the left set of blocks with the lone top block to get the cloud onto it, then quickly create another bridge between the top block and the bottom block. When the two clouds collide, hit Smog a few more times. Once again, it will disappear, Link will be transported to the top part of the screen, and more blocks with more clouds surrounding them will appear. Place a block between the left set of blocks and the left wall to get the cloud surrounding them to move around the perimeter of the room. Do the same for the cloud on the far right side of the room. When they've collided, make a block below the "staircase" of three blocks that the remaining cloud is circling. When Smog reappears, finish it off. Go to the next room to get the Sacred Soil. Once you've done that, the screen will go white and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will fall down the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: Link! I still hear an essence echoing near Rolling Ridge. Huh? I think someone's come!
The screen will shake and a Goron will appear.
Goron: Huh? I was diggin' a new tunnel and I ended up here! Hey!!! What are you doin' here? Don't you know? Games are the new fad on Rolling Ridge! You should check them out, too!
The Goron runs away. Go right and enter the second tunnel. When you exit it, continue moving right and enter the first cave you can. You'll emerge at the base of Rolling Ridge. Follow the path and enter the cave farthest east. When inside, go forward and talk to the Goron.
Goron: Welcome! I am the fifth generation of Graceful Dancers! This is my dance hall. One must know our dance if he is to be called a Goron. If you dance well, I'll give you a Symbol of Brotherhood! One try costs 10 Rupees. Shall we dance?
Agree to dance and get at least six of the eight dances that are shown to you correct. When you do so, the Goron will talk to you.
Goron: You're pretty good! This means you a brother to the Gorons! As I promised, here I go!
You will get the Brother Emblem.
Goron: All Gorons will call you friend! May we always dance together!
Exit the cave and go west through the little path where the sign is. Chop down the bush on the next screen to reveal a Time Portal. Go to the past and re-enter the cave you just came out of. Talk to the Goron standing in front of the stairs.
Goron: I sit here to protect the peace on Rolling Ridge. Huh?!? That's a Brother Emblem! You understand the passion of a Goron's heart! You may pass! I know it's abrupt, but can you help me, brother? Protecting Rolling Ridge has given my life meaning. I need an heirloom that will teach my descendants to value life... It'd be great if you could bring me something unique.
Go upstairs and make your way through the cave. When you exit, move one screen down to find a bulb. Use the Switch Hook to get it in front of the indentation in the wall. Warp to the present and climb the vine it makes. Enter the second cave you come across and talk to the Goron on the left.
Goron: Welcome to Target Carts! Fire your seed shooter while riding in a cart. If you hit enough targets, you win a prize! Up to 3 misses wins 20 Rupees. Want to try? It costs 10 Rupees.
Agree to play and hit all the targets. When you do, the other Goron will talk to you.
Goron: That's it! You hit 12 of 12! Perfect! Nice shootin'! You win a prize!
You will get a Rock Brisket. Leave the game and go back to the Goron that is guarding the stairs in the Goron Dance (in the present).
Goron: For generations, my ancestors have sat here guarding the peace on Rolling Ridge. Huh?!? That's a Brother Emblem! You understand the passion of a Goron's heart! You may pass! I know it's abrupt, but can you help me, brother? For generations, my ancestors have sat here guarding the peace on Rolling Ridge. I can't leave, but I'm so hungry I could starve... Can you give me some food... Whoaaa! You have prime Rock Brisket! Please! Let me have that Rock Brisket! I'll trade my ancestors' Goron Vase for it!
OK - Thank you! This is great! As promised--here!
No thanks - I'm so hungry I could starve. I'd love some Rock Brisket...
After choosing "OK", you will get the Goron Vase.
Goron: Ohhh! This Rock Brisket is so delicious! Thank you!
Warp to the past and talk to the Goron that was guarding the stairs.
Goron: Protecting Rolling Ridge has given my life meaning. I need an heirloom that will teach my descendants to value life... It'd be great if you could bring me something unique. Whoaaa! That vase! What a fine Goron Vase! Please! Let me have that vase! I'll trade you some Goronade for it!
OK - Thank you! This is great! As promised--here!
No thanks - Oh... Come back if you change your mind.
After choosing "OK", you will get Goronade.
Goron: I'm going to treasure this vase!
Warp to the present and enter the cave once again. Go up three flights of stairs, then move forward. Talk to the Goron.
Goron: Haaa... I've worked so many late nights lately, I don't feel up to playing games. And I dug up a great prize, too. Oh, well... That's Goronade! One drink of that charges you up! Will you let me have it?
Yes - I'm wide awake now! Thanks! I'm gonna open up shop!
No - No..? Oh... Haa... I'm just so tired lately!
(After choosing "Yes".)
Goron: Want to give my game a try? The first game is on the house. Want to try?
Play the game and win.
Goron: Amazing! Amazing! Take your prize!
You will get the Old Mermaid Key. Leave and go back to the Target Carts game. Don't go inside - pick up a rock just in front of the entrance to reveal a Time Portal. Use it to travel back in time, then go into the cave. Talk to the Goron inside.
Goron: This is Goron Gallery! Our game was a big hit in Lynna Village! Right now, we're offering Lava Juice to one player with an excellent score! Want to try? It costs 20 Rupees.
Agree to play. Get over 100 points to win.
Goron: Amazing! You win the Lava Juice!!!
While in the past, jump off the ledge where the vine grows in the present. Go into the cave and talk to the Goron inside.
Goron: Don't tell anyone, but I'm friends with the famous Graceful Goron. Really! Hey!!! That key looks like the Mermaid Key the Graceful Goron has. You want the Graceful Goron's key, too? Aren't you greedy... Look, I don't know if it will work, but give me your Lava Juice, I'll introduce you to the Graceful Goron! So? Can I have the Lava Juice?
Yes - OK. Take this Letter of Introduction to the Graceful Goron!
No - Really... Well, whatever!
(After choosing "Yes".)
Goron: If you show that to the Graceful Goron, he'll understand.
Go down to the Dance Hall and talk to the red Goron.
Goron: Huh? That's an introduction from a brother? What's this..? Give me your Mermaid Key? How did he know I have it? Oh well... I can't turn down a brother's request. But I can't just give you this! Dance me for it! If you can match my moves, the Mermaid Key is yours. So? It's 20 Rupees to try...
Agree to dance and don't make too many mistakes.
Goron: What soul! Since a brother has recommended you, I will do as I promised!
You will get the Mermaid Key.
Goron: Come back if you need another lesson!
Exit the cave and go left. When you see the big waterfall, swim into it. You will find a hidden cave. Walk up to the locked door and open it.
Mermaid's Cave
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 6 Mermaid's Cave". Blow up the cracked wall on the right side of the room. Go through the next room into the room filled with candle-like enemies. Use Ember Seeds to defeat them and the door at the northeast side of the room will open. Go into the next room, then go right a screen. Here you have to light the four torches in a certain order: top-left, top-middle, bottom, and finally, top-right. When all four torches are lit, the wall will disappear, revealing a hidden part of the cave. Now go back to the entrance. Move forward three rooms and defeat all the enemies in the third one. The door on the right side of the room will open. Go through it and defeat all the enemies in the that room. When you've done so, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to find a key, then go back two rooms. Unlock the door on the right side of the room and go into the next room. Here, use the Cane of Somaria to place a block on one of the switches, and a pot to hold down the other switch. With both switches down, the door on the north side of the room will stay open. Jump over all the pits to reach it. In the next room, blow up the cracked blocks halfway through the room to reach the second half of the room, then blow a hole in the north wall (just a little right from the middle). Go back to the entrance and leave the cave.
Move forward through time and enter the cave where the waterfall used to be. Unlock the door there and go inside.
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 6 Mermaid's Cave". Move forward three rooms to find yourself in a nearly floor-less room with a crystal switch in the middle. Hit it using the Seed Shooter and the floor will change. Walk around to the top-right corner of the room and hit it again. Now go into the room on the right. Use a Scent Seed to make the enemies enclosed by blocks fall into the pit. When they've all fallen, a treasure chest will appear. Grab the key inside, then leave. Stand at the top-right corner of the room and hit the crystal switch. Walk across the floor to the bottom-left corner of the room and hit the crystal switch again. Enter the room on the left. Blow a hole in the section of wall between the two blocks and pass through the next room. In the next room, jump over the pit and push the die one space down and two spaces left onto the red square. Then push it two spaces right, one space up, right, down, left, up, right, down, and right onto the yellow square. Finally, push it two spaces right, one space up, left, down, and right, and three spaces up. If done correctly, a treasure chest will appear. Get the key inside and go two rooms back. Jump over the pit in the second room and go forward one more room. Walk through the first turnstile, then through the second one. When you've climbed up onto the ledge, follow it one room left then jump off. Move down and right a room, then move through the turnstile again. Do this one more time and you'll have access to the southern exit. Follow the path to a treasure chest with a key inside. When you have it, jump off the ledge to the right, then pass through the turnstile again. Climb up onto the ledge behind the turnstile and jump off in the next room. Exit this room to the south and pass through the first turnstile, then the second. Climb the ledge and make your way back to the first turnstile and you'll be able to get up onto the ledge next to it. Follow it to a locked door and go through it. In the next room, Vire will appear.
Vire: I am Vire, Veran's loyal henchman! I heard someone was trying to stop Veran, so I came here. But it's just some kid! Fine! I can handle you!
The demon will stay as far away from you as possible, and occasionally fly past you. Use this opportunity to hit it. A lot of the time, though, you'll have to wait in the middle of the room, avoiding the fireballs and wait for it to slowly make its way toward you. When it gets close enough, hit it. When you do so, it'll talk to you again.
Vire
: OUCH! Pesky kid! Take this!
Hit Vire again.
Vire: Bully! That's it! I'm serious!
Hit it a few more times.
Vire: Fine! Goodbye!
Vire will split into two bat-like creatures. Defeat them both and the demon will reappear in its full form.
Vire: OUCH..! I paid for my overconfidence but I'll report this to Veran! Gar har har!
At this point, a warp will appear and both doors will open. Go through the right one. In this room, you have to use a bomb to blow up one of the cracked blocks in the middle, but you'll have to time your throw so that it explodes just as it passes the block. When you've done this, use the Switch Hook on the diamond block and open the treasure chest. You will get a Mermaid Suit. Go to the room north of the entrance and move right until you reach a staircase. Go down the stairs and through the tunnel. Unlock the locked block and follow the path to a room with two levers. Keep pulling the levers until a treasure chest appears. When it does, open it to get the Boss Key. Now leave the cave.
At this point, travel back in time. When you've done so, re-enter Mermaid's Cave.
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 6 Mermaid's Cave". Go to the part of the cave where you lit four torches to get rid of a wall. Swim into the deep water (it'll be darker than the rest of the water) and dive underneath. Once underwater, you can only use weapons with the A button, and even then, not all things work underwater. Swim around the blocks in the middle of the room to reach the staircase and go through the tunnel. In the next room, make your way to the doorway at the top-left part of the room you're in. Once there, defeat all the enemies to make a treasure chest appear. Get the key inside, then go back to the entrance. Move two rooms north, one room west, and another room north. Once again, destroy all the blocks and move forward. Walk through the turnstile, go around the loop, through the turnstile again, around again, and through the turnstile one more time. Dive underwater and go to the next room. Continue following the rooms until you get to one filled with diamond blocks. Use the Switch Hook to get them all onto the colored tiles and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to find another key. Go back to the first underwater room and surface. Unlock the door, then the locked block in the next room. Step on and off the switch once, then use the Cane of Somaria to create a block on it. The shutters should be slanted down from right to left. Use the Seed Shooter to hit the crystal switch and cross the bridge. Unlock the door and move into the next room.
Boss Fight: Octogon
When Octogon is above water, use Scent Seeds from the Seed Shooter to hit it in the back. When the creature dives underwater (or surfaces), you must follow it. Continue to hit Octogon in the back when it's underwater to make it resurface. Continue with this pattern and victory will be yours. Go into the next room to get the Bereft Peak. Once you've done that, the screen will go white and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will blow across the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: Link! I have great news!!! Queen Ambi has just left the palace! Now is your chance! This may be your only opportunity to save Nayru!
Go to Ambi's Palace. When you're at the entrance, you'll see Ralph.
Ralph: Link! Don't startle me! You also heard the guard on the palace was down and came to save Nayru? If anyone is gonna save her, it's me! I won't let you beat me to it! But it's no good entering from the front door. I know! There should be a hidden entrance in the palace garden! I'll sneak in through there! What? "Why do I know about the hidden passage on my first trip here?" Never mind!!! I'm coming, Nayru!!!
He runs inside. Go in after him. In each corner of the garden there is a switch you must step on. When you've stepped on all four, go to the middle right screen and chop down the two bushes to find a hidden staircase. Go down the stairs. Dive into the water and make it to the other side. When you surface, go up the stairs and you'll be inside the palace. Go left a room, then go up the stairs. Now go as far right as you can and follow the red carpet into the next room.
Nayru (possessed): Link! I am amazed you have come so far... Wait!
(Veran comes out of Nayru's body.)
Veran: Do you mean to turn your sword on me? Hah hah hah hah! If you want to hurt Nayru, then go right ahead!
She goes back into Nayru's body. Now you have to fight Possessed Nayru. Pull out the Seed Shooter and load up some Mystery Seeds. Shoot Possessed Nayru when she appears and Veran will fly out of her body.
Veran: Not bad! But as long as I am in Nayru's body, you cannot harm me, which means I'm invincible! Hah hah hah hah!
Use the Switch Hook on Veran and she'll appear in her human form. Hit her and she'll go back into Nayru's body. Repeat this a few times and you'll win.
Veran: Uhh... Not bad at all! Just wait until next time...
Link appears standing over Nayru in the middle of the room.
Queen Ambi: What is this commotion?
Nayru: Huhhn... Link..? Where are we?
Queen Ambi: Are you truly Nayru? You seem different... You seem nice...
Veran: Hah hah hah!!! The queen comes with impeccable timing!
Veran flies into Queen Ambi's body.
Queem Ambi (possessed): Hahh... The body of a queen suits me just fine! Do you know what I am going to do now? Let me tell you! Meet the petrified ones! I shall catch them all!
Six guards appear followed by Ralph.
Ralph: NAYRU!!! Is it you? Is it really Nayru?
Nayru: Ralph!!! I'm sorry to make you worry. I'm fine now. Let us return to our own age!
Queen Ambi (possessed): Heeee! What are you doing? Catch them! Now!
The guards start moving in, but Nayru transports everyone to the present in front of the Maku Tree.
Nayru: Thank you, Link! You've safely pried me from Veran's grip. Now all the strange things that happened in their land should return to normal.
All the bad things that happened at the beginning of the game are reversed.
Nayru: But Link, Veran's still in the past, right? If she is, then can't she still create an age of darkness that would continue to the present?
Ralph: Sorry, Link. I was the one running around while you did the saving... But know this: I'll be the one to stop Veran!!! I won't leave the people of the past to her evil deeds! Forgetting about Veran now would be foolish. If we do, she'll just come for Nayru again!
Nayru: Ralph... Just like you said, I'll help in what little way I can! Link, you have the Harp of Ages. I want you to keep if for now. I'm sure it will continue to aid you. Now let me teach you the last tune, which will unlock the true power of the Harp of Ages.
You will learn the Tune of Time.
Mysterious figure: Link!!! You fool!
Lightning strikes the ground and it appears.
Mysterious figure: As we guessed, saving Nayru was for naught! Ambi's age is filled with cries of sorrow! Veran has extended the Dark Realm's reach, giving us what we seek--echoing cries of sorrow! Spread, darkness! Spread, sorrow!
The being disappears.
Ralph: What was that??? I can't take this! Link! I'm going back to Ambi's age first! May fate bring us back together! Bye!
He leaves.
Nayru: There is little else I can do, so I'll return home for now. Stop by anytime.
She leaves.
Maku Tree: What's going on? What does it mean if they're behind Veran's deeds? Link, the next essence... That's wierd! An essense is echoing from inside a fish.
If you don't already have one, get a Magic Potion. You can buy one for 300 Rupees at Syrup's Potion Shop in Yoll Graveyard. Still in the present, jump into Zora Seas and swim to a house south of the Black Tower. Stand in front of it and play the Tune of Time. You'll appear near the same house in the past, except it will have moved over a bit to the east. Swim a few screens left. When you've gone as far as you can go, climb onto the island and warp to the present. Dive underwater and follow the path north. When you've gone as far as you can go, use the Switch Hook to reach the diamond block. Surface, climb onto land, and play the Tune of Time. Follow the water west until you reach a wall, then move south. When you reach a small island, climb onto it and go to the present. Dive underwater and move south. Use the Switch Hook to get over the poisonous blobs once agin, and head west. Now that you're in Zora Village, go back in time. Dive underwater and look for a cave at the northern part of the village. When inside, go up the stairs. Talk to King Zora.
King Zora: Th-the pain! This is the end for me... To think the prosperous royal family could fade in a generation... The pain...
Give him the Magic Potion.
King Zora: Is this Magic Potion? Hmm... It looks very suspect, but if I am to die, it can't hurt to drink it! Glug, glug, ahh! Eww! It's awful! But it flows through me! The royal line is saved! Who are you? Well, thank you, Link! The filthy water that flowed in from the east lately must have made me ill. I will never forget you! What do you wish for, Link? Huh? A big fish? Do you mean... Jabu-Jabu? But Jabu-Jabu is the guardian of us Zoras! Calling him a fish is an insult! Watch your language!
Go to the present and talk to King Zora again.
King Zora: Great healer! What do you ask? You wish to enter Jabu-Jabu? My permission is needed to enter Jabu-Jabu, but I can't permit just anyone to see our guardian. Anyhow, the filthy seawater has left Jabu-Jabu near death. If you say you must, then find a way to get rid of this filthy seawater and save Jabu-Jabu. Will you accept this quest?
Yes - Very well! Then take this!
No - Is that so... Then nothing can be done.
After choosing "Yes", you will get the Library Key.
King Zora: This is the key to Eyeglass Isle Library east of here. It is an ancient library, so I do not know if this key still works, but perhaps you can research why the seawater is so filthy. I trust you to save Jabu-Jabu.
Go back to the past and head east from the cave where King Zora lives. Surface when you can't go any further, then climb onto land and use the Switch Hook to reach the other island. Go into the cave and talk to the Octorok inside.
Octorok: Please listen, young one! You may not believe this, but I am the Queen Fairy, guardian of the sea! The curse of an evil one named Veran has made me appear so! The magic of Fairy Powder can turn me back to normal. Veran has poisoned the sea. Soon all living things in it will perish! Please go find some Fairy Powder!
Go back to the other island and unlock the door. Then warp to the present. Enter the library. Walk all the way to the back and talk to the wise man.
Wise Man: This is the Book of Seals. It was once part of a set, but now only this one remains. How they were used is an eternal puzzle. You say you can solve the riddle of this book? Hoh hoh! This should be interesting! I give to you the Book of Seals!
Go outside, warp to the past, then re-enter the library. Once again, head all the way to the back. Place the Book of Seals on the podium. The message Right 4 Up 2 Right 2 will appear on the screen. Move in the directions indicated to come to another book. Each time you come to a book, you must read it, or the path you are supposed to follow will not be there. The Cane of Somaria is useful here. The second book will read Up 2 Left 1 Up 2 Right 1 Up 1. The third book will read Left 2 Up 1 Left 3. The fourth book will read Down 1 Left 3 Up 1 Left 3. The fifth book will read Down 1 Right 1 Down 2 Left 2 Down 3. The sixth and final book will read Right 1 Down 1 Right 2 Up 1 Right 1 Up 1 Right 2. Talk to the wise man.
Wise Man: You have done well to make it so far. I acknowledge your courage and offer you this.
You will get Fairy Powder.
Wise Man: Continue on without fear. Do not forget your courage.
You will be warped out of the room. Go back to the cave and talk to the Octorok.
Octorok: You brought my Fairy Powder. Now I can return to normal! Sprinkle the powder on me!
Link sprinkles some powder on it and it turns into a fairy.
Fairy: Thank you, young one! Now I can cleanse the seas of evil!
She flies around Link, then up off the screen. She uses her magic to get rid of all the poisonous blobs. Go to the present and talk to King Zora again.
King Zora: Thanks to you, our seawater is clean again, and Jabu-Jabu's health has returned. All is well. I never go back on my word. I dub you Zora Hero and permit you to enter Jabu-Jabu. You may go see Jabu-Jabu.
Swim over to Jabu-Jabu, just left of the cave where King Zora lives. When you get there, the screen will shake and he will open his mouth. Swim inside.
Jabu-Jabu's Belly
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 7 Jabu-Jabu's Belly". Swim left and in the next room use the Switch Hook to place a diamond block in front of each statue. (You can swim over the black pits.) When you've done this, a key will appear. Pick it up and swim north. Hover above the yellow square on the floor and press B. You will rise up a floor. From here, move left one room and then north for as many rooms as you can. In the last room, move to the right and push the bottom block right and the one above it up. Go to the next room and up the stairs. Keep following the path until you come to a switch surrounded by red tiles. Step on it and the screen will shake. The message "You heard water going out." will appear. Go back downstairs, then south a room. Fall down the pit, then move south one more room. Open the treasure chest to find another key. From here, move down a room, right a room, then north a room. Here, use the Cane of Somaria to weigh down the switch to keep the door open. Move right and swim around the platform until you see a staircase. Climb onto the platform, then go upstairs. Now move north and right. When you get to a room with a bunch of spikes in the floor, use the Switch Hook on the diamond blocks to make your way to the stiarcase. Head up one more floor and north one more room. Unlock the door and in the next room you'll be at a switch surrounded by blue tiles. Step on it and the screen will shake. The message "You heard water coming in." will appear. Go downstairs and all the way back to the next staircase. This room will be filled with water now. Swim to the right side of the room to find a door. In the next room, defeat all the enemies and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to find a key. Leave this room, then head north and left. Dive into the small pool of water and go down the stairs once underwater. Swim through the tunnel and you'll be attacked by the Angler Fish. Hit it with Scent Seeds to deflate it, then slash its antenna. Repeat this pattern and you will defeat it. A ladder will appear on the right side of the room. Climb it and go left to find a treasure chest. Open it and you'll get the Long Hook. Use it on the diamond block and exit the room. Go down the stairs and swim across the black area to the door on the west side of the room. Leave this room, then fire the Long Hook at the diamond block on the west side of this room. When you've moved it out of the way, go west one more room. Head north a room and go down the stairs. Make your way through the tunnel. When you do, defeat the three enemies in the room you appear in, then get the key. Exit the room through the south door, then, in the next room, surface. Keep heading north, then left and you'll come across the first staircase you had to climb. Go upstairs and make your way to the switch surrounded by red tiles. Step on it and the screen will shake. The message "You heard water going out." will appear. Go back downstairs, then go left a room and down two rooms. Fall into the pit and exit the room through the door on the right. In the next room, push the block out of your way, then go down a room. Here, use the Long Hook to reach the diamond block surrounded by water. Use it again on the pot. Now move the diamond block onto one of the switches and create a block on the other. A treasure chest will appear. Open it to find a key. From here, move right one room and up one room. Create a block on the switch and go right. In the next room, go upstairs. Move north and to the right. When you reach the next staircase, go upstairs. Keep moving north until you come to a room with a big black pit. In this room, use the Long Hook to get across the pit. In the next room, go left and unlock the block. Once you've done that, keep moving left until you see an opening. Go through it and step on the switch in the next room. The screen will shake and the message "You heard water coming in." will appear. Leave this room, then move south as far as you can. In the last room, use the Long Hook on the diamond blocks to reach the treasure chest. Inside is a key. Once you have it, go downstairs. Go as far south as you can, then move left. Climb up onto the platform, then move left and move one of the pots out of your way so you can jump off in the next room. Move left one more room, up one room, then left one more room. Open the treasure chest in this room to get a key. When you have it, leave this room, then move down a room, then right a room. Climb onto the platform in the top right corner of this room, then use the Long Hook to reach one of the pots south of you. Now go back the way you came; go all the way north, then up the stairs. Continue moving north as far as you can, then go as far left as you can. Once there, move right by unlocking the doors and you'll come to a treasure chest surrounded by torches. Open it to find the Boss Key. Go back downstairs, and keep moving south. In the room before the next staircase, go left and dive down the hole. Swim onto the blue tiles to move up a floor. Now swim up the ladder and continue following the path until you reach a locked door. Open it and go inside. A blue jellyfish will appear.
Boss Fight: Plasmarine
All you have to do is swim around to avoid Plasmarine, then when it fires a ball of electricity at you, use the Long Hook to put the jellyfish in the path of the ball instead of you. Do this a few times and you'll have won. Go to the next room to get the Rolling Sea. Once you've done that, the screen will go white and the mysterious figure will appear in front of a black background.
Mysterious figure: Eee hee hee hee! Since you seem so relaxed, I've come with news! The Black Tower has already reached the heavens!!! Oh ho ho ho ho!
The camera pans up the complete tower. Queen Ambi is shown at the top of the Black Tower.
Queen Ambi (possessed): Ah hah hah hah! The Black Tower is finally complete! Powers of darkness, come to me!
She gets struck by lightning and emits a strange glow.
Queen Ambi (possessed): Ahh! The powers of darkness flow through me! The powers swell! Hah! Even without the powers of young Nayru, I can stop time! Now true darkness comes! The sorrow of people shall be delivered to me, lighting my Flame of Sorrow! Ah hah hah hah!
People and animals in different parts of the world begin turning to stone.
Queen Ambi (possessed): None can stop Veran now! You can only wait for the Flame of Sorrow to light! What a view! All humanity can feel the sorrow! Ah hah hah hah!
The screen goes white and Link appears in front of a black background. Leaves fall down the screen and the Maku Tree talks to you.
Maku Tree: Saving Nayru isn't enough... Veran's deeds have changed the world... Link! I cannot hear the last essence at all... But it must be somewhere in Labrynna. I'm relying on you, Link.
Swim south a screen. A Zora will approach you.
Zora: You have done so much for us! Our seas are clean and all is well! I offer you our symbol of heroism-- the Zora Scale!
You will get the Zora Scale. The Zora walks away. Go to the past and dive underwater. Swim as far east along the southern edge of the Sea of No Return as you can and eventually you'll come across a Zora. Talk to it.
Zora: The seas beyond here swallow up all who venture into them--the Sea of Storms! I can't allow a child like you to pass! The Zora Scale? So you're Link! You may pass! I know not what lies beyond, and I ask not why you must pass. Fare you well!
It runs away. Swim into the small square that it was blocking and surface. Cross the small piece of land and enter the Sea of Storms. Swim around and look for a pirate ship. It will always sail around the perimiter of the sea. When you see it, swim into it. Talk to the Captain in the upper-right corner of the ship (the one with the hook for a hand).
Captain: Sailin' the seas is every man's dream! It was great to so gallantly sail off to me dreams... But we got stuck in this Sea o' Storms and can't get out! Har! Ye've got the Zora's Scale sea charm! Aye, that could calm this Sea o' Storms! 'Ow about you give me that Zora's Scale?
OK - Thank'ee! Yer a good man!
Sorry -
(After choosing "OK")
Captain: Ahoy, mateys! We're off to 'Olodrum, the land o' seasons!
The pirates jump up.
Pirate: Aye, aye, sir!
Captain: Thank'ee! Now we can escape these seas! Take this as a sign o' me thanks! It's the jewel called the Tokay Eyeball! It's said to be the thing that opens the way to the ancient tomb. I don't know if it's true or not, though.
You get the Tokay Eyeball and are transported outside the Sea of Storms.
Captain: Ye've really 'elped us out. Aye, we found that Tokay Eyeball on Crescent Island. Maybe ye should 'ead that way? We're off now! Ahoy, mateys! Aye, aye, sir!
They sail away. Go to Crescent Island and look for the statue with one eye missing in the north-west part of the island. When you find it, put the Tokay Eyeball into the eye-less socket. The screen will shake and the statue's mouth will open. Go inside. The message "Show your Courage, Wisdom and Power. The road to the past shall then open." will appear. In the first room, simply defeat all the enemies and the door will open. In the next room, move the pot out of your way, then run to the cracked block. Blow it up, then move the next pot out of your way. In the room after that you'll need the Cane of Somaria to tell where the path is. To reach the staircase, go to the bottom part of the platform in front of the door and move two spaces right, three spaces down (to the wall), six spaces right, two spaces up, and four spaces left. Here, use Roc's Feather to jump up a space, then move one space left, and four spaces up (to the wall). Use Roc's Feather one more time to jump over to the right, then go up the stairs. You will appear in a tunnel. When you come up the other side, you'll appear just north of Crescent Island but underwater. Surface, then move onto the small piece of land. Push the middle statue one space over to the left and a path will appear. You will now be in a maze. Move as far north as you can, then west, north, west, south, west, north, east, south, east as far as you can, south, west, south, east, south to the wall, east, north to the other wall, then as far west as you can. Enter the opening.
Ancient Tomb
A message will pop up on the screen that says "Level 8 Ancient Tomb". Walk forward a room. Here, go to the top-most statue along the left wall. Push it up (it should now be against the top wall) and plant a bomb where the statue was. Go to the next room and keep blowing up the cracked blocks until you get the key from the treasure chest. Now make your way to the locked door at the southern end of the room. In the next room, use the Long Hook to move the diamond block onto the switch closest to it. Use the Cane of Somaria on the next block. Now stand on the block in the southeast corner of the room and use the Seed Shooter to fire an Ember Seed at the unlit torch. Once you've done this, the stone panels in the middle of the room will open revealing a staircase, and a ladder will appear. Go down the staircase. Move up a room, then go through the turnstile. Go through the next room. Now move as far north as you can to find a treasure chest. Open it to get a key. Go back to the staircase and unlock the block to the right of it. Go through the next turnstile, then go up the stairs in the next room. Keep moving left and you'll get to a room with a crack in the southern wall. Blow it up and go to the next room. Carefully make your way to the treasure chest in the top right corner of the room and get the key inside. Now go back to the room after the second turnstile. Before you go down the stairs, go north. Follow the path until you reach a crystal switch. Hit it, then go back through both turnstiles. Once in the northern-most room, move right. In this room fight the Stalfos Knights until you find a key. Exit this room to the south, then climb up onto the ledge and press the switch. Another set of stairs will appear. Go down the stairs that you used to climb onto the ledge, then go through the turnstile. Climb onto the ledge using the set of stairs that just appeared, then go through the turnstile again. Now go to the next turnstile. Go through it, then go past the stairs, back to the first turnstile. Go through it again, then go through the second one. In the next room, unlock the door and go to the next room. Here you will have to walk over the tiles in a certain way. Here's one of the ways you can do it: move one space right, two spaces down, one space left, one space down, three spaces right, two spaces up, one space left, one space up, three spaces right (to the wall), two spaces down, one space left, one space down, one space right (to the wall), one space down, three spaces left, one space down, two spaces right, one space down, one space right (to the wall), one space down (to the wall), three spaces left, one space up, one space left, one space up, one space left, one space up, one space left, four spaces up (to the wall), one space left, six spaces down, two spaces right, one space down (to the wall), five spaces left (to the wall), one space up, two spaces right, one space up, one space left, one space up, one space left (to the wall), one space up, one space right, one space up, one space right, one space up, two spaces left, and one space up. When you've done this, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to get the Power Glove. Go back through the turnstile, but this time, keep moving north through the locked door. Move right one room and down one room. Hit the crystal switch to lower the red blocks, then get on top of them and hit the crystal switch again. Follow them through the next room to reach the exit in the upper left corner. Follow the path through the next two rooms, then go down the stairs. Move right two rooms and you'll fight the Blue Stalfos. To defeat it, simply wait for it to shoot a ball at you. Hit it back at it, and if you have good aim the projectile will hit the Blue Stalfos and it will turn into a bat. Quickly hit it as many times as you can until it turns back into a skeleton. Repeat this pattern, and only hit back the round balls. When you've won, a warp will appear, and the doors in this room will open. Exit through the south door, then move left two rooms. In the second room, use the Long Hook to reach the stairs, then climb onto the platform. Keep following the path and you'll get to another diamond block that you'll have to hit. Once you do, go up to the next room and get the key from the treasure chest. Move right a room and open the treasure chest to find a slate. Climb onto the platform and jump off in the next room, then make your way to the room two rooms after the fight with the Blue Stalfos. This time, take the south exit. Go left in the next room and you'll come to a room filled with lava. Unlock the block and go left. You'll come to another room filled with lava. Pull the lever back until the lava hardens, then run to the other side of the room. In the next room, open another treasure chest to find another slate. Climb up onto the ledge on the right side of the room and move up and right. Jump off the ledge in the room with four statues and pick up the bottom left one to reveal a staircase. Go downstairs, then push the bottom block left and the one above it up. Use the Long Hook to hit the diamond block across the gap and open the treasure chest to find the Boss Key. Hit the diamond block to get back across, then follow the path to another staircase. In the next room, push the block all the way down, then left to open the gate. Ride the cart, and when it stops, wait for all the tiles to break and both doors will open. Go down and make your way to the switch. Step on it and the wall will widen, making it possible to get to the next room. Once there, defeat the knight and the door will open. Go through it and open the treasure chest to find another slate. Ride the two carts back, then go north. Defeat all the enemies in the icy room to open the doors. Move right and go down the stairs and through the tunnel. Defeat all the enemies to open the door at the top left part of the room, then swim as far north as you can. You now have to swim down with the current, avoiding the pits. You'll have to swim right for one room to reach a staircase. Swim down the stairs, then as far down as you can in the tunnel and head right. Surface, then open the treasure chest to get the last slate. Go back into the tunnel and take the exit that is farthest left. Now on dry land, move left one room and down one room. Put a slate into each opening in each side of the platform. When you've done so, the panels will open revealing another staircase, and some stairs will appear. Climb up the stairs to reach the staircase and go through the tunnel. Move right a room. Here, you'll have to cut down the plant, blow up the cracked block, light the torch, then pick up the statue to reach the door. Unlock it an enter. In the next room, a sleeping creature will be awakened and two hands will fly to its side.
Boss Fight: Ramrock
The first thing you have to do here is wait for Ramrock's hands to fly at you. Hit them back, and if you hit its face you'll do some damage. After three hits it will get a new set of hands which will crush anything between them. When it stops moving, quickly pull out a bomb and drop it between its hands. If it explodes before they close, you'll hurt Ramrock. After three hits, Ramrock's hands will disappear and two shields will appear. Use the Seed Shooter to bounce a seed off the wall and hit the back of its head. Be ready to run in case it shoots lasers out of its eyes or fires a ball at you. After a few hits, its shield will disappear and two ball-and-chains will appear. Wait until Ramrock tries to punch you, then pull the other hand (close to its face) as far back as you can. Once you've done this, let go and it'll hit Ramrock in the face. After a few more hits, Ramrock will disappear. Go to the next room to get the Falling Star. Once you've done that, the screen will go white and Link will appear in front of a black background. Leaves will blow across the screen and the Maku Tree will talk to you.
Maku Tree: Thank you, Link! You've gathered all the Essences of Time! Now I can create something that will aid you, Link! Please visit me after you've grown up! I'll wait for you, no matter how long!
Go to the future and talk to the Maku Tree.
Maku Tree: Link! You've collected all eight Essences of Time and know their power! Thanks to you, time flows true in me again, and I remember all I had forgotten! I'm the guardian of Nayru, Oracle of Ages, and my Maku Seed can be used only by a hero who knows the powers of the Essences of Time. The hero who knows the Essences of Time sees unwavering truth across time and space. If you can do this, Link you can stop Veran! Take this!
A glowing ball falls down and Link catches it. You now have the Huge Maku Seed.
Mysterious figure: What a waste! You're too late!
Lightning strikes and the mysterious figure appears.
Mysterious figure: Give up, Link! Don't you know all your efforts are for naught!
The mysterious figure disappears in a cloud of smoke and Kotake and Koume appear.
Koume: We are the Gerudo witches, Twinrova!
Kotake: This world is ours to manipulate! No matter how much you struggle, the Dark Rites will begin soon!
Koume: Remember our name as if it were sorrow! The name of Twinrova! Oh ho ho ho ho!
They fly away.
Maku Tree: Link, it's Twinrova! Twinrova... Who thought the terrible Gerudo Witch Twinrova would appear... What could her plan be... I'm filled with sorrow, just as Twinrova hoped! The world is doomed! You must stop Queen Ambi at the Black Tower and cast down Veran! Please!
Go back to the past and head for the Black Tower. You'll meet Ralph along the way.
Ralph: So, Link, you finally made it! I came to destroy Veran! Veran has taken control of Queen Ambi, right? Then to beat Veran... I must defeat... Queen Ambi... Umm... Well... Queen Ambi! Veran! I'll destroy the both of you! Then the people of this age, and of our age, will have peace... ...But what... will happen to me..? Umm... Link... Don't forget me. I mean, I think of you... as a friend... OK! I'm going! Ralph can do it! Goodbye, Link!
He runs away. Walk towards the Black Tower's entrance and you'll be approached again.
Impa: Link!!! Wait!
She walks onto the screen with Nayru.
Impa: Link, I was researching the past and found something awful! Ralph is a descendant of Queen Ambi! Do you know what this means? Ralph lives now because Ambi lived in the past. If Ambi is slain, Ralph will never exist! I came to try to stop Ralph, but I couldn't!
Nayru: Link, please! Stop Ralph! He means to sacrifice himself for the people of this age by slaying Queen Ambi... I can't allow Ralph to make such a sacrifice!
Impa: You're the only one who can save Ralph, and all of us, Link!
Nayru: Impa and I will find a way to give strength to the villagers. Please, Link, save Ralph.
They walk away. Now head for the Black Tower.
The Black Tower
A message will pop up on the screen that says "The Black Tower". The first part of the tower is easy - simply make your way up the tower. Eventually you'll get to a part of the tower with three doorways. Here, Link will hold up the Huge Maku Seed and it will begin floating. Each of the eight Essences of Time will appear and they will form a circle around the Huge Maku Seed. They will start spinning and the screen will flash. When everything is back to normal, one door will be left. Go through it. A message will pop up on the screen that says "Black Tower Turret". Here, turn left and take the staircase next to the wall. Then move up to go back downstairs. Now take the staircase in the top left corner of the room. Follow the path to the first staircase you come across, then go to the staircase next to the north wall. Once you've done that, take the staircase directly beneath the one you just took, then take the middle staircase. Now move south to reach the last staircase. You'll now be in another room filled with staircases and four flames will surround you. Follow the one that appears at your back and take the staircase that it disappears into. If you've taken the correct staircase, you'll sppear on a platform in a room room filled with enemies. Take the stairs by moving north, then move one screen down. Go around the middle section of the tower and go into the big door. You'll see Ralph holding a sword to Queen Ambi.
Queen Ambi (possessed): You must be... Ralph, of Ambi's line... Hah! I have no time for such a small fry! Be gone with you! Or do you mean to fight me? Don't make me laugh! Fool! This is the body of Ambi's, your ancestor. If you slay me, you will vanish from this world! Do you still wish to fight?
He jumps back.
Ralph: You trickster! Fine! If I slay you, I vanish! Maybe it is terrifying... But if I must, I must. To do nothing and live just isn't me. Then it means nothing! I will destroy you! To protect the people of this age, and to protect Nayru!!!
He runs into her with his sword.
Queen Ambi (possessed): Oh, Link! Because of my kindness, young Ralph still lives. But you still attack me! If you damage Ambi's body, Ralph will vanish. You can't intend to end your dear friend's life by your own hand! Hah hah hah hah!
She disappears. Go to the next room. Veran will appear hovering over Queen Ambi's body.
Veran: You come despite my warning? Do you not value life? Or are you a mere fool? Regardless, it won't be easy! I'll teach you your place! I'll not be as kind as before!
She goes back into Ambi's body. You now have to fight her. Simply do the exact same thing as the last time you had this fight - shoot Mystery Seeds at her to make Veran leave her body, then use the Long Hook to make Veran appear in her human form. Quickly hit her, then repeat until you've won.
Veran: Ughh... I never expected to be beaten by this boy...
Link and Queen Ambi appear in the middle of the room. She wakes up.
Queen Ambi: Link! What happened? I feel as though I've been caught in a bad dream... As if pure evil had inhabited my body... What? I must leave at once! I see worry in your eyes. I should have done as I was told...
She runs away, and Veran appears.
Veran: Well done! I thought I might possess you this time. Perhaps you have a different flavor from that fool, Ralph.
She changes to her human form.
Veran: You've seen me like this before, but this is my true form. You'll regret making me show my true might!
Lightning strikes many times and she changes into a fairy-like creature.
Veran: I'll give you reasons to fear Veran, Sorceress of Shadows!!!
Boss Fight: Veran
When the fight starts, four Dark Links will appear around you. The move in the exact opposite direction you do. It's a good idea to get rid of them while Veran isn't attacking. When she flies by, hit her as many times as you can. When the four Dark Links are defeated, they won't reappear. Keep avoiding Veran's attacks and hitting her as she flies by and you'll win.
Veran: This should not have happened to me...
She blows up. Nayru and Ralph enter the room.
Nayru: Link, are you all right?
Ralph
: Link! You did it! Even I thought it was over this time, but Nayru was there. She can't always remain helpless! I'm going to train so I'll be able to protect Nayru on my own!
Nayru: You've finally beaten Veran. Now the chaotic flow of time should return to normal. Shall we go back to the village?
They start walking away.
Veran: You won't get away so easily!
The screen starts shaking and they all start looking around. Link pushes Nayru and Ralph out of the way as he is captured. He appears in a dark room with the face of Veran looking at him.
Veran: How cold of you to run off and leave me all alone! But, my, aren't you courageous! You've spoiled all my plans! I hoped to avoid revealing this vile shape... You'll pay for my humiliation with your life! Now, Link, it is your turn to taste despair...
The room gets bright.
Veran: and the fear of death!
Final Boss Fight: Veran
In Veran's first form, her turtle form, she will jump up and attempt to land on you. Get out of the way, but stay nearby and hit her when she shows her face. Throughout the fight, Veran may change into two other creatures, one of them, a spider. In this form, she will walk around and shoot webs at you. Avoid them, and throw bombs at her. If you time it right, it will blow up next to her and stun her. Take this opportunity to strike. She may also turn into a bee. When she does this, she will fly around and shoot stingers at you. Avoid them and strike whenever you can. After many hits, you'll have won.
Veran: My... My body withers... But you are too late! My role... was to disrupt the currents of time... To flood humanity in sorrow... The despair that fills this land has already passed through this tower and on to Twinrova! I see it... Burning blue... The Flame of Sorrow!!! Hah hah hah...
She blows up. The tower begins to shake. Nayru and Ralph are waiting outside.
Nayru: Link... What's happening inside..?
The entrance blows up and Link appears.
Nayru: Link!!! I'm so glad you're safe! Thank goodness!
Ralph: You really beat Veran, didn't you? Nice work, Link! You're amazing! ...Huh? Queen Ambi? She saw you get shut in and turned and ran.
Nayru: Let us go!
They walk away. On their way out, they find Queen Ambi surrounded by knights.
Queen Ambi: What? Are you gonna take on Ralph?
They move forward.
Queen Ambi: Link! You are safe! I just called my knights from the palace to help since you were locked inside the tower...
Ralph: Don't startle me like that! I thought Veran's tricks had gotten you!
Queen Ambi
: Link, thanks to you, everyone is back to normal. I thank you.
Everyone that was turned to stone turns back to normal and carries on with what they were doing.
Ralph: Link! My respect for you has grown. I thought it was over when you got locked in the tower. I never thought you'd outdo me!
Queen Ambi: Ralph is my grandson's grandson's ...grandson! You, too, have great courage. You shall be the pride of my people.
Ralph: And you, Queen Ambi! Veran is gone, so now you can be my great, great, great, great, great, great... grandmother! A queen! I'm so proud!
Queen Ambi: How rude! I am still young! Don't call me granny!
Nayru: I am reluctant to part, but we must return to our own age! All is well in this age! You may return without worry. We shall never forget you.
Link is surrounded by a blue flame. He is being watched.
Kotake: Eee hee hee hee! Link! Don't think it ends here!
Kotake and Koume appear.
Koume: Behold, Veran! The troubles you caused have filled the land with cries of sorrow! It has given birth to the Flame of Sorrow, which burns brightly! When this flame brightens the darkness, our wish will be granted! Oh ho ho ho ho!
The message "The Legend of Zelda ~ Oracle of Ages ~" appears. The screen flashes and Link, Nayru, Ralph, and Impa appear in front of the Maku Tree. Next to it is a statue of Link. As the credits roll, different people are shown doing different things throughout the land. Afterwards, the words "The End" appear in front of a picture of the sun behind a tree.
