Glitches
In the Glitches section of my page, you will find cool ways to mess with Zelda 64. If you think you've done absolutely everything there is to do in the game, think again! There are tons of glitches out there, and little by little they are coming in here. Send me glitches and I'll post them up here. If you don't want your name or e-mail address posted, be sure to include that in your letter. Please note that as the editor of this page, I reserve the right to edit anything that is sent to me for content, grammar, spelling, length, etc. as I see fit.
Get Navi Stuck
1. You have to be an adult
2. Go to the Temple of Time and go to the Altar of Time.
3. Jump up there, and stand in between Zora's Sapphire, and Goron's Ruby. Face the Kokiri's Emerald and press A.
4. Take out your ocarina and play Saria's Song. When Navi asks if you want to talk to Saria say yes. Now jump down. Why in the heck is it dark? Is one of Ganondorf's monsters here? No, Navi is not by you. If you go around, it is very dark. There is a reason you have Navi! She gives light. But if you warp out of there she will come back.
- ZeldaTeen spiritlion@aol.com
Add-on to "Get Navi Stuck"
After you get her stuck, turn back into a kid. Navi won't be in the cinema of you changing. Walk back toward the altar, but don't go near it, walk to the side. After that when you are at the entrance to the Temple of Time (inside) try to get Navi out. She won't come out. She is still on the altar, but you can't see her. You can go into the Market without her, just don't go into a shop or a house.

20 Bottles
Make sure you have at least one bottle in your inventory. Then, find some bugs, or fish. Then, select a bottle and put it on a C button. Swing at one. When you see the bottle in mid air, pause, and replace the bottle with a weapon. Unpause the game, and voilą!!! More than four bottles!!!!! You can do this with any item on the Item Select screen.
- Malon ack_007@yahoo.com
Editor's note:
WARNING!!! After you replace an item, do not save. If you save over an item that you need, you can't get it back, and will have to re-start your game.
Getting The Ocarina Of Time Without The Spiritual Stones
You know the 20 bottles trick... Before meeting Zelda for the first time... replace the Fairy Ocarina with a bottle... now go meet Zelda. When Impa teaches you Zelda's Lullaby you will not pull out the Fairy Ocarina, you will pull out the Ocarina of Time.

Swordless Link
I believe that you were wondering how to use the C items while riding Epona?!? Well here is one way that you can do it..... After you beat Ganondorf (final 2 battles), GANON will hit the Master Sword out of your hands. After he does this, SAVE your game, then reset your game.... this will start you at the beginning of Ganon's Castle with NO sword equipped. Now, leave Ganon's Castle and enter Hyrule Field.... Call Epona and get on the horse. Being that you don't have any sword equipped, the game will let you use any item that is able to put into C.
- Malon ack_007@yahoo.com
Editor's Note:
If you go fishing after you do this trick, you won't even be able to use the fishing rod!
First-Person View Trick
First, do the "Swordless Link" trick. When riding Epona, throw a Deku Nut, and take out your hookshot/longshot, which should be frozen in place, then throw another Deku Nut, and you will be able to see through Link's eyes, or pretty close. You can also run and be active in this perspective.

Crooked Cartridge
This one does not require the Gameshark but is weird nevertheless. First start a new file and begin a game in the Kokiri Forest. You know how Mido always blocks you from leaving the Kokiri Forest or getting to the Deku Tree until you have the Kokiri Sword and Sheild? Well you can get past him by tricking the N64 itself! Here's how to do it. First get as close as you can to Mido. While gently pulling up on the left side of the game cartridge while the N64 is on push up on the control stick. Don't pull it too far or the game will crash. If you do it just right you will go past Mido and end up in the passageway to the Deku Tree or even better yet you can get passed the guy blocking the western passage and get in the bridge that leads to Hyrule Field! Remember to push the game cartridge back in so all the garbled noise goes away. Once you enter these places you will have no sheild and sword. You will meet Saria like normal and receive the Fairy Ocarina.
- Malon ack_007@yahoo.com
Add-on to "Crooked Cartridge"
The Crooked Cartridge trick can help you walk through rocks also. As young Link, you can cross the rocks at the entrance to Zora's River or the rocks at the entrance to Goron City from the Lost Woods. I am currently trying to use the trick to enter Gerudo Fortress and scale Death Mountain (where the boulders block the way) w/o the game locking up.

Go Below Zora's Ice
Here's the lowdown. I have discovered how to get under the ice in Zora's Domain. For this trick you must have "Swordless Link" trick. First get on Epona and go to Lake Hylia. Go to where the pillars are, and position Epona so she is facing in the direction of the now frozen entrance to Zora's Domain. Equip the Iron Boots and push the Ocarina button so that you aren't on Epona. Slowly walk forward so that you don't cause Epona to nay and walk backwards. Keep going until you fall in front of the entracne. Now push the A button, but right after you do that pause and switch to the Kokiri Boots before you actually mount Epona. You will now be sitting in the water, but re-equip your Iron Boots so you have enough depth to switch boots back and swim toward the entrance to Zora's Domain. If you did it right, you should warp to Zora's Domain. Once there, quickly equip your Iron Boots so as not to rise to the surface. This proves that the mysterious hole everyone is talking about does not lead to the Triforce. Enjoy!

Bury Epona Alive
You have to be adult Link. Enter Lon Lon Ranch *without* Epona. Now, walk to the wide area past the house and the stable. Play Epona's Song. The horse will come out of nowhere inside the fenced area, and start running toward the fence. She won't get to you cause she'll keep running through the fence. When she stops running, enter any of the three rooms in the ranch: the house, the stable, or the small room with the cows. Go outside again. Go inside the fenced area, and you'll find Epona stuck under the floor!! She can't walk or get out of there, even if you play Epona's Song. She'll stay there, even if you get out of the ranch, and get back in... heck; she even stays there is you save and turn the N64 off! You can get Epona back easily by playing Epona's Song in Hyrule Field... you can do this trick at any time of the day. Just make sure that you go into the ranch without the horse. If it didn't work the first time, and you want to try again, get out of the ranch to Hyrule Field, and play Epona's Song. Don't ride her, just enter the ranch on foot and try again. It could be done some other ways, but it's better if you follow the steps above the first time, then you can try your creative skills. It looks cool once you do it... good luck!
- Malon ack_007@yahoo.com
Purple Haze
Do the "Swordless Link" trick. Get out into Hyrule Field. Mount on your horse, and ride to Lon Lon Ranch during the day. Accept Malon's obstacle course challenge, but in the middle of it, use your Ocarina on the horse, and play the Song of Storms. A purple mist will appear for about 15-30 seconds, making everything purple silhouettes.

Making Epona Confined
Take Epona to Lake Hylia and to the place where the Gossip Stone lies near the waterfall from Gerudo Valley (you should have to cross a small ledge to get there). Work your way into the corner behind the Gossip Stone. When you get back there, however, you'll have to restart the game, because you'll be confined to that small area!

See Link Dying In A Wall Of Flame Through Zelda's Eyes
This'll take a bunch of tries; it took me over thirty; but the effect if really awesome.
First Step: Beat Ganondorf, make it down Ganon's tower, make it to the final piggy Ganon battle.
Second Step: Equip Deku Nuts, the Megaton Hammer, and a Fire Arrow.
Third Step: Beat Ganon up to the part where you can go back and get your sword.
Fourth Step: Instead of getting the sword, walk around the perimeter of the platform until you can get a good view of Ganon's tail flopping around while he's resting.
Fifth Step: Shoot his tail with a Fire Arrow.
Sixth Step: Ganon should get up immediately, and the wall of fire rises while you are behind it. You should start bouncing back and forth within the fire (if you are not bounced back and forth in the fire, try again; it's the hardest part of the trick).
Seventh Step: Throw a Deku Nut; the view should go over to Zelda's position, and you should be able to see the sides of her head like in the "First Person Link Trick".
Eighth Step: Watch Link for the remaining few seconds of his life. When he dies, the view will revert back to it's normal death sequence, and Link will be covered in fire.

Lakeside Shop Glitch
Go to the Lakeside Shop and stand over the cage of water and next to the wall facing the thing that measures your diving skills. Jump for it (have the Kokiri Boots on for this to work). You should start bouncing up and down really fast. Try to pull out your sword! It's really fun!

Float On Sand
If you wear Hover Boots across the river of sinking sand at the Wasteland, you can walk on it as long as you want without sinking.
- Rockxpac1028@aol.com Rockxpac1028@aol.com
Editor's Note:
You can wear the Hover Boots on any kind of sand without sinking into it like you normally would.
Lone Door
The moment a gamer waits for since the game comes out (well... at least some of them... okay... none of them) - discovering a glitch. And while the title of this glitch could use some work, I've experienced that moment. This glitch takes place in the Fire Temple, in the giant maze-like room; the part behind a wall of flame that doesn't go down (you have to step on a switch to get there). To get through this part, you have to blow up a wall with a door on it. If you hit the door with your sword, it will fall down and pick itself back up. If you plant a bomb in front of the wall, and just before it explodes, hit the door with your sword, the door won't blow up, but the wall will. You can walk through the door, and knock it down. To blow it up, just plant another bomb. No biggie, but hey, a glitch is a glitch.

Self-Repairing Sign
This isn't anything big, but it's wierd. The best is it's EASY. Destroy any sign as much as you like. Now walk away from it but make sure the camera is on it. When you're far enough away, it will suddenly repair itself.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Make Link Do A Mid-Air One-Eighty
Go to any place where you can leave a part of Hyrule and go into another. The best spot I found was the entrance to the Spirit Temple. Stand close to it with your back towards the doorway and do a back flip. Link should stop in mid-air, turn around, and start walking into the next area.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Make Link Do A Sword/Hammer Trick
I'm not too sure if this is a glitch, but it's kinda funny. You need the Biggoron's Sword and the Megaton Hammer. Put the hammer on one of the C-buttons and equip the Biggoron's Sword (if for some strange reason you haven't already). Keep switching between the hammer and the sword and it will look like Link is twirling it.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Gravestones Drag Themselves
First, go to the graveyard and anger a Poe. When it's about to hit you, start pulling a gravestone. If you're knocked away, the gravestone will go the rest of the way by itself.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Hovering Blue Tektites
To start off, make your way to the room in the Water Temple with all the dragon statues that go up and down when you hit the crystal switch in the middle. When the water is raised, use your hookshot/longshot to paralyze a Tektite, and then lower the water before it starts moving again. The Tektite will be hovering above water.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Strange Walking
You don't need anything for this to work. Walk forward and rapidly press "Z". Link will twitch on one foot while sliding on the other.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Link Can Run With Iron Boots
I have found a way to prove Link can run with his Iron Boots on. He just normally doesn't feel like it. Wear the boots before entering a cinema, and Link will run around with them on.
- Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
Get On Blue Roof
Go to Kakariko Village as a kid and climb up that big tower. When you are at the top, make sure you are facing forward (toward the chicken lady's house). Then use Z-Targeting and sidestep toward the house with the blue roof. As you come to the fence on the tower, hit A while you sidestep. You will jump. Try to get on the house or on the fence. If you are on the fence, just walk to the house.
- Atombomb92@aol.com Atombomb92@aol.com
Turn Gossip Stones Blue
I have a funny little glitch. First put a bomb next to a gossip stone and when it turns blue, hit it with your Megaton Hammer. It will just stay like that! To turn it back to normal, put a bomb next to it again and hit it when it's grey again!
- Adam ASTROKNOT4@aol.com
Go Behind the Walls of Ganon's Castle
Go to Ganon's Castle and then hop off onto the dirt ledge at the right of the door. Take about 5 steps and run towards the door. Now take out your Longshot and aim for the pillar that makes the door. You have to aim at the top and as far right as possible. If in the right position, you will fall behind the wall. At first it will look like Link disappeared, but press C↑ or Z and you will be able to see behind the wall, and walk on a hidden castle ledge. Nothing special, just a cool glitch.
- ClayJrJr@aol.com ClayJrJr@aol.com
Repair Signs
Slash a sign to pieces as much as you want then play Zelda's Lullaby in front of the sign and the sign will repair itself. Start slashing the sign as it comes back together and if you get it right then the top will be there but the bottom won't!
- C4HR c4hr@theraces.html
Free Ride
To do this glitch you MUST be little and can't have gotten to Lon Lon Ranch yet. OK first you meet Malon and whatever at Hyrule Castle. Then after you do this, go to Lon Lon Ranch. Then learn Epona's Song from Malon. Then play it again. Don't move. Let Epona come to you. She will walk into you and be pushing you around while walking!!!! To get out of this, just move away.

Get Link Stuck
This glitch is kinda pointless, but extremely funny! First you have to be swordless, you know, you have to lose your sword to Ganon and save it. The, while you are on Epona, ride to Gerudo Valley, but make sure you have your longshot on one of the C buttons. Then stop in front of the bridge when it's fixed. Above the bridge should be something you can longshot to, but I'm not sure what it is. Use your longshot and hook to it while on Epona. Then you should see Link sitting on Epona with his longshot hooked to the thing above the bridge. Get off Epona, and you'll rise up so that you are level with the thing you have hooked! You can use the joystick and move out really far, but I am going to warn you, you'll have to reset the N64 after that, 'cause there isn't any way to get off that I've found.

Ocarina of Time Glitch in the Forest Temple
I don't know if anyone has ever seen this one but I discovered this while just messing around in the game because I was bored! But when I entered the room where you found the Wallmaster - y'know the ugly hand that splits after you slash it two times and you have to kill it to get a key! well, I was messing around with the Z-Targeting and found this peculiar eerie light in the wall! It was a shimmering light blue with a black center! It looked like a doorway but there was no path to it! Ok, this is how you see it! First kill the Wallmaster and get the key! Then, go to the right side of the room and use the Z-Targeting to walk sideways towards the right and keep it on Z-Targeting or you'll lose the picture! Make sure that you are facing the same wall with the exit door while walking sideways and leave it on Z-Targeting and you'll see it! You'll see right through the wall and there it is! Well i'm of to find more unfound glicthes! Bye!
- Richard Randolph T_h_a_i2@Hotmail.com
Make Link Invisible
First, you have to do the old carpenter's tent glitch. You know... the one where you parallel Epona to the tent entrance (next to Gerudo valley), and whip her till she gets in? Anyway, when you get into the
tent, play the Serenade of Water. You'll be at the warp point, but
you'll be on Epona and invisible. Get off Epona and walk around.
- Roxie pengoid@mac.com
Princess Ruto Glitch
If you can believe it, after all this time I've discovered another glitch - although this one is probably more trouble to pull off than it's worth. In Jabu-Jaby's Belly, go to the room where you get the boomerang. Once all the enemies are defeated, stand on the spot where the treasure chest appears while holding Princess Ruto. If done correctly, you'll be standing on top of the treasure chest with her. Put her down and she'll start bouncing up and down really fast while making a noise like a machine gun. If you open the treasure chest, she keeps on doing the same thing. There is no way to pick her up or stop her without leaving the room. To get her back, simply leave the room and go back to where you first met her.
- LinkFrek linkfrek@ignmail.com
Hyrule Castle is Really a Lake
I wouldn't really call this a glitch, more like a trick to get behind Hyrule Castle. Most of you have most likely read about this on other Zelda sites, but anyway. To get behind Hyrule Castle, first go over close to where the Great Fairy is in close to where Hyrule Castle is (of course). To the left of the sign that says "Dead End", there is a really pointy wall/land thing that is at a certain angle. You have to slowly walk up it. First slowly walk so that you get on the tip of it, then slowly walk up. if you want to be sure to get all the way up, go to first-person view and have the top tip alligned with the center part of the sword icon thingy. It may take you a couple of tries but hopefully you get on the grass. On the grass you can see a couple things. If you go to the edge, you can see over the graphics, which is a lot like the end part with Link and Zelda talking, only at the bottom there is blackness. Also if it's getting close to sunset or dawn, you can see the moon or sun. If you fall down then it will take a few seconds but you'll die. If you look to the left, you can see that behind the graphics of the castle, there is also nothing. Anyway, walk along the edge and get to the last tip of ground to the left of the castle. If you don't stay on the edge, then at a part where it really slopes, you'll fall and land on the other side of the gate, having to start all over again. When you are at the tip of ground, you can see that there is absolutely nothing behind the castle. Anyway, look down a bit. You should see a part also where the water goes to a point. You want to jump so that you land right infont of it and swim under it. And now you will be in invisable water. You can dive as deep as you want but you won't hit anything. Also the camera messes up a bit. After you dive in the water and are behind the caslte for a few seconds, the camera will stay in one place. What's really funny to do is swim out away from everything. The funny thing is, that this lake is so big that you can swim out so far, that eventually Link will just be little dots moving only a tiny bit. If you go out too far then you'll reach the end and fall. What's also funny is that, you know when you jump off a high place and Link does that yell, well, he'll do the yell but it will be a few seconds when he's done yelling that he finally dies. That's all there really is, have fun.
