Walkthrough

This is my Walkthrough for Master Quest, the second quest to Ocarina of Time. Because the only differences between this game and the original are the dungeons I've only included walkthroughs for the dungeons in this section. If you're having problems outside a dungeon, consult my Ocarina of Time walkthrough. The only additional thing you'll need that isn't required in the original game is the Scarecrow's Song, which you can read about in my Extra Stuff section. If you aren't sure about anything, send me a letter and I'll help you out as best as I can.

Inside the Deku Tree
Climb the ladder on the ledge to the left. Run along the path. When you get close to the wall covered in vines Navi will talk to you.
Navi: Look at this wall! The vines growing on it give it a rough surface... Maybe you can climb it, Link!
Climb the wall and look for a switch on the upper floor. Step on it and the cobweb blocking the door will burn as the torch lights up. Go to the door.
Navi: You can open a door by standing in front of it and pressing A. Pay attention to what the Action Icon says. That's the green icon at the top of the screen!
Defeat all the enemies in the next room. Once you've done that a treasure chest will appear and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Step on the switch and jump across the platforms to reach the treasure chest, then open it to find the slingshot. Go back outside and jump off of one of the ledges. Try to land on the cobweb. If you do so, you'll break through it and fall to the next floor. Step on the switch near the gate to light the torch. Shoot the eye above the door and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Light a Deku Stick and take it to the next room. Light the torches near the other door to lift the iron bars. Go to the next room and step on the switch. Light a Deku Stick before the flame goes out, then jump on the moving platform. Duck under the spikes by pressing R. Light both of the torches, then climb on the block to reach the door. In the next room, defeat all the enemies and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. In the room after that step on the switch in the middle of the room. Light a Deku Stick on fire and use it to burn down the cobweb you're pointed at. Crawl through the passage and run toward the block.
Navi: Stand next to this block and grab hold of it with A. While holding A, you can push or pull it. If you stand next to the block and press A while pressing the control stick towards the block, you can climb on top of it. Pay attention to what the Action Icon says!
Push the block off the ledge, then light a Deku Stick and use it to burn down the cobweb in the floor. Fall through the hole. Defeat the Deku Scrubs in the following order: right, left, center. Talk to the last one you defeat.
Deku Scrub: How did you know our secret?! How irritating! It's so annoying that I'm going to reveal the secret of Queen Gohma to you! In order to administer the coup de grace to Queen Gohma, strike with your sword while she's stunned. Oh, Queenie... Sorry about that!
Go through the door. Walk forward a little bit.
(Cinema Scene)
The view is of what Gohma sees. She is coming closer to you. The door closes.
Look up at the glowing eye on the ceiling.
(Cinema Scene)
Gohma drops from the ceiling. The words "Parasitic Armored Arachnid Gohma" appear.
Boss Fight: Queen Gohma

Queen Gohma is very easy. Hit her in the eye using the slingshot. Immediately start giving her all you've got, and repeatedly slash the eye. When she gets back up she will go onto the ceiling. If you hit her again she will drop, and you can hit her some more. If you don't hit her on the ceiling, she will drop Gohma Larva on you. Defeat them and she will drop. Repeat this pattern until you've won.
(Cinema Scene)
Queen Gohma burns up in a blue flame.
Walk into the light.
Dodongo's Cavern
Pick up a Bomb Flower and blow up the wall. Run forward.
Navi: It looks like there are many lava pits around here, so watch your step!
Pick up the Bomb Flower on the center platform and use it to blow up the rock at the far right side of the room. Step on the switch and the nearest platform will go up to the second floor. Ride the platform up, then jump off at the top and run across the bridge. Step on the switch and the iron bars blocking the door directly beneath it will open. Go through the door and blow up the wall across the staircase. Use a Deku Stick to light the Bomb Flower growing on the wall, then quickly toss it in front of the staircase. If done correctly, the Bomb Flowers surrounding it will blow up, lowering it. Now collect all the silver Rupees. There is one under a Beamos, one in front of the door that you have to go through, and the rest are in crates. Once you've collected them all the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Defeat all the enemies in the next room and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted and a treasure chest will appear. Go through the door and run across the bridge to the next room. Set each of the blocks underneath a torch, then light them all. This will cause another torch in the room to light up, and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Head for the doorway across the room and light a Deku Stick. Quickly run down the hall, light a torch, burn down the cobweb, defeat the Skulltula, and light the last torch. Move the block to the left of the ledge to the other side of the room and climb up onto the ledge. Take a flame to the Bomb Flower growing on the wall and use it to blow up the wall. Go through the door and defeat the Lizalfos'. The iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Hit the crystal switch at the far left side of the next room and the fire on the first platform will go down. Quickly jump onto it and turn left. Get the Bomb Flower and use it to blow up the rock on the right side of the room. Step on the switch and hit the crystal switch again, then jump across both platforms before the fire comes back. Keep running forward until you reach a Bomb Flower and some rocks. Blow up the rocks, then use the Bomb Flower to blow up a wall on the ledge beneath you. In the next room jump on the platform next to the wall and it will raise you up. Grab the Bomb Flower and use it to blow up the row of Bomb Flowers growing further down the hall. When you've done that the rock at the end of the row will get blown up. Shoot the eye and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Go to the next room and defeat the Lizalfos'. This will cause the iron bars blocking the door to be lifted. Go through the door and use the Bomb Flower growing on the other side of the room to blow up the row of Bomb Flowers growing up the pillar. The chain reaction of explosions will cause the iron bars blocking the door to be lifted. Go through the door and open the treasure chest to get the bomb bag. Ride the platform to the second floor and jump onto the giant Dodongo. Put a bomb in each eye and its mouth will open. Go inside and run down the hallway on the right. Toss a bomb over the flaming wall to hit the crystal switch on the other side. Climb over the wall before the flames return, then blow up the Bomb Flowers growing behind the Armos'. The chain reaction will hit a crystal switch which will create a block that will let you reach the ledge. Run down the hallway and pull the tombstone back. Step on the switch and the iron bars blocking the door will be lifted. Blow up the brown part of the floor in the next room and drop down the hole
Boss Fight: King Dodongo
Defeating King Dodongo is not a hard task. When he opens his mouth throw a bomb into it. When he turns red and falls slash him with your sword, then run 180 degrees around the room in the direction he is facing. Do this a few times, and you've won.
(Cinema Scene)
King Dodongo starts rolling, but is out of control. He rolls into the lava, and burns up.
Now walk into the light.
Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly
Shoot the cow on the left and go through the door. Jump down off the ledge and dive towards the cow. Climb onto the ledge and step on the switch. Ride the moving platform back up and go through the door that just opened. Run forward.
(Cinema Scene)
Princess Ruto: You! Who are you?! I am Ruto, Princess of the Zoras. What?! Are you saying my father asked you to come here to save me? I'd never ask anyone to do such a thing! "Letter in a bottle?" I have no idea what you're talking about! My father is worried about me? I don't care! Anyway, I can't go home right now. And you... Get out of here! Understand?
She falls through a hole in the floor.
Princess Ruto: Ooooh Noooooo!
Jump down and talk to her.
Princess Ruto: Are you still hanging around here? I told you to go away! I'm OK, I've been going inside Lord Jabu-Jabu since I was little, but... Lord Jabu-Jabu is very strange today... There are electrified jellyfish and strange holes around... On top of that, my precious stone was...but... That's none of your business! Anyway... You! Go home now! Understand?
Talk to her again.
Princess Ruto: You're that worried about me? Then I will give you the honor of carrying me! However...I won't leave until I find the thing I'm looking for. You'd better believe me!
Pick her up. Jump on the switch in the middle of the room, then jump towards the blue switch and set her down on it. A door will open. Shoot the cow on the left and a treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a bombchu. Go through the door that opened and defeat all the enemies. A treasure chest will appear. Step on the switch to raise the water, then climb up and get the boomerang. Get onto the ledge on the other side of the pool and go to the next room. Head upstairs and go to the room where you first saw Ruto. Use a bombchu to blow up the rocks on the wall, then shoot the cow. Head towards the door that just opened and hit the orange block with the boomerang. Climb over it and go into the next room. Go down the right hallway. In the next room defeat the enemies. A treasure chest will appear, the door will open, and a torch will light up. Light a Deku Stick and use it to burn the cobweb outside. Go into the room behind the cobweb. Defeat the Parasitic Tentacle? and leave. Go down the left hallway, and at the end of the hallway, go through the door on the left. Defeat the Parasitic Tentacle? and leave. Go down the middle hallway and blow up the rocks. Use a crate to hold down the switch and go into the center room. Defeat the Parasitic Tentacle? and go back to the room where you first saw Ruto. Fall down one of the pits and talk to her.
Princess Ruto: How inconsiderate! How could you leave me behind?! If you're a man, act like one! Take responsibility!
Pick her up and go into the room down the hallway (on the highest ledge).
(Cinema Scene)
Princess Ruto: That's it! That's what I've been looking for! Throw me up there! Onto the platform!
Throw her onto the platform.
(Cinema Scene)
Princess Ruto picks up the Spiritual Stone of Water.
Princess Ruto: Oh my goodness! I finally found... My mother's stone... I got very upset when Lord Jabu-Jabu swallowed it... While I was feeding him he suddenly swallowed me! I was so surprised I dropped it inside... But, now that I've found it, I don't need to be here anymore! So, take me home, right now!
Run forward.
(Cinema Scene)
The platform flies up.
Princess Ruto: Keeeyaaaah! What is this?! An octopus?!
The platform comes back down with a creature that resembles an octopus on it.
Sub-Boss Fight: Bigocto
To defeat Bigocto, know this: the platform spins opposite the direction Bigocto runs. Hit it in the back with the boomerang, then again with the sword. Do this a few times, and you'll win.
Get onto the platform and it will go up. Shoot the cow and leave the room. Shoot the cow and two crates will appear by the door. Hit both of the orange blocks with the boomerang, then grab a crate, jump across the blocks, and set the crate down on the switch. Go through the door and jump to the ledge. Go through the only door you haven't gone through. Shoot the cow on the right three times and go into the next room.
Boss Fight: Barinade
First, Z-Target it, and use the boomerang to hit it. Keep running around in circles to avoid its electric bolts. After a few hits, the Bari will make a huge circle and move around the room counter-clockwise. Aim for its body with the boomerang. Once you've hit it, repeatedly slash it. This time the Bari will form a smaller circle around it, and Barinade moves around as well. Difficult as it may seem, try to hit it with the boomerang. Once you've hit it, aim for the Bari. Once you're destroyed them all, Barinade will get up, fly around the room, and shoot electricity at you. Once again, hit it with your boomerang, and then with your sword. Do this a few more times, and victory will be yours.
(Cinema Scene)
Barinade puffs up and explodes.
Walk into the light.
Princess Ruto: You... You're late! What took you so long? You're useless! I was just lonely, that's all... Just a little!!
Forest Temple
Climb up the vines on the wall on the right and get on top of the tree. Jump across to the next tree and step on the switch. A treasure chest will appear. Open it to get a key, then go to the next room. Unlock the door at the end of the hallway.
(Cinema Scene)
The four flames will disappear to be replaced by ghosts. The elevator will go down, and the ghosts float away laughing. The room becomes eerily dark.

Run to the top of the staircases and unlock the door.
Navi: Watch for the shadows of monsters that hang from the ceiling.
Climb onto the ledge on the right and unlock the door at the end of the hallway. Pick up the box on the ledge to the right and place it on the switch in the middle of the room. Shoot an arrow through the fire and into the frozen eye. The hallway will twist. Take the box off the switch and exit this room. Run down the hallway and drop into the hole in the floor in the next room. Run forward.
Navi: Link, watch out! The ceiling is falling down!

Go into the north room and unlock the door on the other side. Walk up the stairs, and into the middle of the room. Try to walk out.
(Cinema Scene)
Three spikes go up and Phantom Ganon appears behind you on his horse. He laughs, and pulls off his mask. He floats up. The words "Evil Spirit From Beyond Phantom Ganon" appear. Phantom Ganon flies into a painting.
Phantom Ganon
To defeat him, stand on a Triforce Icon in a corner of the room. Always have an arrow ready to shoot. Phantom Ganon will appear riding his horse in two paintings. The real one will have a purple portal in front of it just before he jumps out, and the fake one will stop before it reaches the limits of the painting. Hit the real one with an arrow before he gets to another painting. Do this three times, and his horse will disappear. Now he floats around shooting balls of electricity at you. Z-Target him, and keep hitting them back at him with your sword until he's down. Once he is, slash him repeatedly. Do this a few times, and you'll have won.

Ganondorf
: Hey kid, you did quite well... It looks like you may be gaining some slight skill... But you have defeated only my phantom... When you fight the real me, it won't be that easy! What a worthless creation that ghost was! I will banish it to the gap between dimensions!!
Walk into the light.
