Tips and Tricks

In the Tips and Tricks section of my page, you will find a few tips that will make your quest through Hyrule an easier one. If you are having a problem with a certain part of the game, and need some help, this is the place to be. If you need some tips on something that's not included in this section, or would like to add a few things, send them to me. If you have a good tip or trick, I'll post it.

General
- If you get Epona as soon as you become an adult, the rest of the game becomes much faster.
- You should get the Biggoron's Sword as soon as you become an adult. This way, the rest of the game becomes much easier.
- The walkthrough I have posted is very general. There are many ways to do the things that are in there, and there is a lot more stuff to do in the entire game. I only posted the stuff that you have to do, and only one way to do certain things.
- You should get the Sun's Song as soon as you can. This will make the game faster, because as both an adult and as a child, there are certain things that you can only do during the night or day, and this way you won't have to wait for time to flow normally.
- Another reason to get the Sun's Song (at all) is that it freezes the ReDeads for a short time after you play it near them. This can be especially helpful later in the game.
- When you're on fire, move around as much as you can, and the fire will go out faster.
- When you're frozen, hit "A" and "B" as much as you can, and the ice will break faster.
- If you don't want to waste a bomb on opening a secret grotto, or clearing certain rocks, the hammer does the job just fine.
- Some secret grottos can only be opened by playing the Song of Storms somewhere near them.
- If you wear the Skull Mask around Keese, they won't attack you.
- If Navi turns green, it means that there is a secret nearby.
- If Navi turns green, but you don't know why, try playing the Song of Storms or the Sun's Song and a fairy might appear. If this doesn't work, and you're an adult (especially if you're in a dungeon), try playing the Scarecrow's Song.
- It is usually better to use the Deku Shield as a child, because you can walk while holding it up.
- You can keep getting the 200 Rupees after you've destroyed all the Skulltulas.

- If you use the hookshot/longshot on a wall that you can climb, it will pull you up the wall.

Battle Tips
- You should always have at least one fairy in a bottle, especially if you're fighting a boss, or playing a dungeon that you're not particularly good at. This way, if you die, you'll be brought back to life with full health, and it won't cost any money or time to buy medicine.
- If you defeat a Wallmaster in a room where it can get you, it won't come back until you leave and re-enter the room.
- To easily defeat most enemies as a child, use the boomerang to freeze them, and take your shot. You could also try hitting them with the slingshot.
- To make most fights easier as an adult, use the hookshot/longshot to freeze the enemies, then hit them, or try using the arrows to defeat them from a distance.
- Don't get intimidated if you're in a room with more than one Stalfos, Dinalfos, or Lizalfos in it. As long as you have one Z-Targeted, the other(s) won't attack you.
- To make the flames around the Blue and Green Bubbles go down (faster), use the boomerang, a shield, the hookshot/longshot, bombs, Deku nuts, arrows, the Megaton Hammer, or bombchus.
- Use the hookshot/longshot on Skulltulas when they're facing you for a quick and easy kill.
- One hit on either side of a Skulltula with the Megaton Hammer will kill it.
Editor adds: Same with a hookshot/longshot and an arrow.

- If you hit a Wolfos in the back, it will die quicker.
- As a child, using Deku Sticks can be better. Do a jumping attack with it, and the blow will be twice as hard as an air attack with the Master Sword.
Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
- Using the Megaton Hammer by a wall of Skullwalltulas will knock the closer ones down.
Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
- To slay the Moblins, hit them in the back with any kind of weapon.
Dave Jacobik funguy_f@hotmail.com
- If you use the Megaton Hammer in a room with torch slugs, they will flip over, making it impossible for them to move, and the fire surrounding them will be put out.

Inside the Deku Tree
- When fighting Queen Gohma, always keep her Z-Targeted. This way, you can hit her while she's on the ceiling, preventing her from dropping Gohma Larva on you, and making your fight with her quicker and easier.

Hyrule Field
- If you walk on the path in Hyrule Field at night as a child, you won't get attacked.
- If you wear the Bunny Hood as a child in Hyrule Field at night, Stalchilds won't appear. If they appear and then you put the hood on, they will attack you.
- Stalchilds die if they touch water.
- To defeat the Peahat Larva, hit them with your shield.

Dodongo's Cavern
- If you're not good at defeating Baby Dodongos, you could try throwing pots or bombs at them, although you have to be pretty accurate.
- After you've hit a Baby Dodongo once, it will leave itself open for another hit by breathing fire at you. Use this opportunity to strike at it again.
- To easily defeat an Armos, put a bomb right next to the statue, and touch it before the bomb explodes. You'll have to be quick, though, or else you'll take damage.
- If you're using the Deku Shield and it burns up, you can find a new one behind the wall that you have to blow up on the bridge in front of the giant dead Dodongo.

Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly
- The platform in the middle of the room always spins in the direction opposite of that in which Bigocto is moving.
- You can kill Bigocto in one hit with a jumping attack from Deku Stick.

- When fighting Barinade, your shield does nothing.

? (Dampé's Grave)
- When racing Dampé, don't take sharp turns around corners, because he may have left a flame there.

Forest Temple
- When you're fighting the purple Poe, you can tell which one the real one is, because she spins before they start circling you
- After you've stunned Phantom Ganon by returning his attack back at him, you can reach him quicker by using the hookshot.
- If you stand on the Triforce icons in the corners while Phantom Ganon is jumping in and out of pictures, you won't get hit by his attack, and you'll have a good view of where he's coming from.

Fire Temple
- You can easily clear out flying tiles by standing facing them with your shield out.
- When you're wearing the Red Tunic, you can momentarily walk on fire (but not through).
- When you're wearing the Red Tunic, you won't set on fire.
- You should always have your shield out when Volvagia is flying around.

Ice Cavern
- You should always have a few empty bottles to hold blue fire so you don't have to keep back-tracking.

Fishing Pond
- To make catching fish easier, hold "R", "A", continually tap "B", and rotate the control stick. If the fish is near land, hold the control stick at the top right or top left location.
- The biggest fish is always right beside the log that sticks out of the water as soon as you start fishing. If it bites your lure and then it gets away, it will be hard to find.

Water Temple
- It is possible to beat the Water Temple before the Fire Temple.
- Dark Link is extremely easy to defeat with the Biggoron's Sword.
- To defeat Dark Link with the Master Sword, wait until he strikes at you, then use the Jump Attack. Be careful when using this, though. If your timing is off, you will be momentarily defenseless, and he will hit you.
- Never thrust your sword at Dark Link. He will jump on it, and sometimes use this opportunity to strike back at you.
- Always Z-Target him.
- Dark Link will always re-appear behind you after you hit him.
- To get passed the room before the fight with Morpha, I would suggest staying on the right side of the room, and going up just after the blade has gone by you.
- When you're fighting Morpha, don't stand at the edge of the floor, or it will fall right back into the water. Stay further back so that you can hit it after you've pulled it out of the water.
- Morpha won't even touch you if you stand in the corner between the spikes. It's tentacle won't even reach you.

Bottom of the Well
- If you're using the Deku Shield, and it burns up, you can find a new one in a room near the far right corner of the main room through a crawlspace and behind a locked door.

Shadow Temple
- Always have the Lens of Truth handy. There are lots of hidden treasure chests, and fake walls in this temple.
- If you're not in any particular danger (or if you're good with them), wear the Hover Boots as much as possible.
- If you're having trouble with fans, wear the Iron Boots to keep yourself from getting blown around.
- When fighting Bongo Bongo, always Z-Target it.
- Once you're hit one of Bongo Bongo's hands, quickly Z-Target and hit the other one.
- Always use the Lens of Truth during the fight with Bongo Bongo.

Thieves' Hideout
- When fighting the Gerudo Thief, Z-Target her, and try hitting her with an arrow for an easy kill. Sometimes she'll block, but you're sure to hit her if she tries jumping at you, or lets her guard down.
- Any guard in purple can be knocked out with an arrow.
Bignacka5@aol.com Bignacka5@aol.com
- Any guard in purple can be temporarily stunned with the hookshot/longshot, but an arrow is your best bet, because if you use an arrow, they're knocked out until you leave the room.

Gerudo Training Ground
- In the room filled with lava where you have to collect all the silver Rupees, play the Song of Storms on the platform next to the one with a fire on it to make blue blocks appear.
- To get all the silver Rupees underwater, try putting on your Kokiri Boots and swimming around (but if you do this, you'll have to keep switching back and forth between the Kokiri and Iron Boots).
- To get the Rupees near the bottom of the underwater part, position yourself so that the Rupee that you're trying to get is between you and a target, then hit the target with the longshot.

Haunted Wasteland
- It is easier to get across the Haunted Wasteland during the day, because the poles are easier to see.
- When travelling with the Poe, you can cut off about half the journey. When you are closest to the red flags just abandon the Poe.

Spirit Temple
- It is possible to beat the Spirit Temple before the Shadow Temple.
- Anibus always moves in the opposite direction as you.
- To easily defeat Anibus, use the Fire Arrow or Din's Fire.
- To easily climb the moving wall (or any wall that you can climb) hit the highest part that you can with the longshot.

Ganon's Castle
- In the "Fire Temple", the main floor won't sink if you wear Hover Boots.
- When Ganondorf shoots a few balls of electricity at you at once, use the Spin Attack to send them back in his direction. He won't be able to block this.
- If you follow Zelda as closely as possible during the escape, you will be less likely to be hit by falling rocks.
- You can use the Biggoron's Sword on Ganon instead of the Megaton Hammer after he knocks the Master Sword from your hands.
- To hit Ganon (easily), get close to him, wait until he raises hit swords to hit you, run through his legs, quickly Z-Target him, and hit him.
