Best Broom Contest
A few months ago I asked you to design your own broom for the magical community.  I will these four people for having the most creative, exotic, or interesting broom out of the entries:
Contest Winner (1st Place)
"This, up to the minute, magical phenonmenen is now available in your shops.  It has been called the Blazendale by it's creators and is by far the best thing thing the magical community can expect in broom technology these days.  It owns a streamlined, sleak handle made from the wood of a wisteria plant, light enough to fly with no encouragement yet heavy enough to sustain control in torrencial storms, and coated in a fine polish of beetle's saliva, the strongest liquid substance yet discovered by the wizards of this world.

Its twigs are made from the branches of a Whomping Willow, allowing them to read their rider's mind and act accordingly.  Therefore the rider need not even say he wants to turn left, he only has to think it and this broom will instinctively bend it's branches to the right, turning the broom in a left direction.  Wizardists have been working on the telepathy broom for some time now and the Blazendale is the premiere product of their success.

The Bulgarian Quidditch Team have been the first to put in an order for these amazing, but expensive, state-of-the-art models.  This is believed to be because of their failure at the Quidditch World Cup earlier this year.  Viktor Krum, himself, told the Daily Prophet this morning, 'We know where we went wrong at the World Cup, and are well on the way to mending our ways.  Hopefully, with the aid of these new brooms, next time should be a joyous occasion for the Bulgarian side.'  So, the Bulgarian side are hopeful that these brooms are just what they have been waiting for, but will be correct.

The cheif Wizardist of the Blazendost (the company who have manufactured the Blazendale) has expressed a note of caution in his marketing of this new product.  He has informed The Daily Prophet, 'We are indeed thrilled at the final invention of such a broom, but there are some worries we have in selling it to the general magical community.  They are as follows: we are not yet sure if the brooms may respond to another rider's thoughts if these same make of brooms get too close to each other.'

Trials are being undertaken at present to make sure that these brooms will infact only respond to the telepathic command of its rider.  It is also quite possible that the brooms will only be able to turn into a certain wavelength of brainwave.  Consequently, riders may have to train their brooms to pick up their particular brainwaves, for several months.  This also results in brooms becoming sort of private really, as only the owners willbe able to telepathically communicate with them, and the brooms do not respond to the normal commands riders of today are so familiar with.  It is therefore feared that these brooms will only really be suitable for highly dedicated international Quidditch players.  However, after trials are completed to check that the brooms are safe for public use, they will be available to the public at 3300 galleons.  We understand that this is more than the average annual wage is able to afford, but years of dedicated work have gone into the production of these brooms.  If you really want one, you'll need determination, persererance, and more importantly, money!"

On December 31st the newest and most amazing broom ever will be available to the wizarding community.  The "Dragon2001" is a broom that is not only incredibly fast, accurate, and easy to use, but it is actually half alive!  The "Dragon2001" is made using young dragons, which are half transfigured to resemble broomsticks.  Because of this, the "Dragon2001" is able to maintain itself, and, if treated carefully, will begin to respond to its user in a pet-like way.  This special quality is what sets the "Dragon2001" apart from other broomsticks.  Although other brooms may work well, they are only objects: enchanted to fly quickly.  However, since this broom is half dragon, it is alive, and it is aware of its surroundings.  This helps in many ways.  First of all, it makes the broom safer.  In case of an emergency, it can change directions or slow down suddenly.  This certainly hleps, especially when a wizard is first learning to fly.  Also, the broom is able to communicate to its user by using a special dragon language.  So, if you need a broom, get the "Dragon2001" because it is not only a broom, it is a friend!

The Glastior is alive!  Seriously!  It was discovered by the witch scientist/explorer Anna Glastior in the jungles of Bermuda (the native have used it for centuries).  It's exactly like any other broom only with mouth and eyes at the end of the handle and the bristles are a soft tail.  Its thought to be part dragon, but Anna insists it is perfectly safe.  Its eyes are it's most interesting feature.  They change over the years to the color of fire.  In its first year they're red, then orange, then blue, adn lastly white.  This is when it reaches adult-hood and you must find it a companion and within a month it will give you two new baby brooms (one for you and one for the other person's  Glastior).  This means you have brooms for life unless it gets killed before you get a companion for it.  Another cool feature of these are the way you buy them.  They are alot like wands.  In that they choose you.  You try a bunch out and whichever one starts with your command on the first try is your broom.  Although you can ride someone's broom it will never feel the same.  These Glastiors are not just brooms they are life-long pets!

The broom would be called the MoonGlider3000.  It would be so tough that if it fell into the branches of the Whomping Willow, it wouldn't break.  It has extreme storage space for long trips (like taking dragons from country-to-country, or going on family trips).  It comes in a family style with broombelts so that your whole family can be safe, or single style for one person like normal brooms.  The MoonGlider3000 can fly up to 500 mph faster than the Firebolt, and has a built-in compass and headlights.  Its twigs can also be flipped around so it can be used to sweep the floor.  The MoonGlider3000 has an extremely helpful wand-holder as well.  This broom has more than pinpoint turning and extreme acceleration.  It can be used as a racing broom or a travelling broom.  I introduce to you, the newest and best broom yet, the MoonGlider3000!
