Mandrake

The top part of the Mandrake is a plant, which is the part that sticks out of the ground or pot and is exposed to the world.  The lower part of the Mandrake is a human body, which is hidden in the earth.
When a Mandrake is a baby, and teething, it tends to scream a lot, also when it's being repotted into a larger pot.  The screams of the Mandrake are killers.  If you are repotting a Mandrake you need to take extreme caution not to hear it's screams.  You also do not want to be bit by a Mandrake.
Mandrakes, like humans, grow from an infant into an adult.  When they get ready and through adolesence they start moving into eachother's pots.  At that time they are ready to do one thing to help in our magical society...
When a Mandrake is fully ready-meaning it's moving into another Mandrake's pot you can cut it's leaves which will cure anything that has been "fozen in place."
An example would be in book 3 of Harry Potter, (if you have not read that book yet and plan on to do not read on or else it will spoil it) when Colin Creevey, Hermione Granger, Nearly-Headless Nick, Mrs. Norris and another student were frozen stiff when the giant snake met eyes with them.  The way they cured them, is using the Mandrake leaves, then they were unfrozen.
