Jonesy's arrival however, seems to have created a new love triangle in the station between himself, Tess and Jo. Jo thinks Jonesy is the best thing ever, but Jonesy hasn't noticed her because he quite likes the look of Tess. However, Tess is very wary of being hurt again and is still getting over Jack to see Jonesy's interest in her.
Jonesy goes through a lot towards the end of the season as he discovers that Les Anderson may have killed his natural father. This is further complicated by the fact that he suspects his adoptive father, Commander Reg Jones, may have been involved in a cover-up and so Jonesy goes to all lengths, including putting his own career in jeopardy to bring his father's killer to justice.
In season 9, Jonesy has an interesting experience on a fishing trip. In the episode 'fishing for dummies' Jonesy is nearly killed after falling into a river and running into a dangerous family. He also risks Tess's life in 'Teamwork' when he and Jo go off on their own, and Tess and PJ walk into a hostage situation. Tess is saved when Jo fires at the man with a gun toher head, but Jonesy is still in trouble! Jonesy gets serious about trying to attract Tess's attention, and in the season finale, he kisses her in the locker room. Tess returns home after 3 days in Fiji, married, but is it to Jonesy?
